I'm pretty sure the only way to get past the CPU in a 1v1 situation is a "pass by" or a defensive slide animation....I dont think I've seen a situation where I was able to just attack at an angle before the AI could square up. They can even slow you down in a full angled sprint.
I'd like Live to put all that great foot planting to use and actually rely on that to determine more outcomes...trust their rotations a bit more....especially with blocking the way it is....

Yeah, I've been working on driving to the hoop more and it largely seems to be ankle-breaker-or-nothing. In other words, you either beat the defender with a flashy dribble move (which feel very nice to pull off, to be fair) or they stop you in your tracks.

I can only speak about Franchise as I play 95% of my games there. The sliders (especially Jostle sliders) , game speed adjustment, and most importantly, Difficulty level ( reminder: superstar is a boss mode) help with many of the issues on the court. Also, when driving with specific players, (Simmons/Embiid in my personal example), can drive THROUGH contact instead of waiting for the "clear" animation/vibration indicating you beat your man. Sometimes the defender is just physically overmatched and can be easily exploited from multiple "engaged" angles For a difficult but make-able insidecshot orvpull up and sometimes even the "and one".
I base my offense around creating mismatches when I need to drive to the hoop in an isolated situation.

Re: Live 19 Patch 1.15 notes
Honestly, I'm having a rough time with this game. When it launched I was able to quickly move from Pro to All-Star difficulty and loved playing on All-Star. It was the perfect challenge. I won some and lost some and all was good. However, somewhere along the way, the difficulty on all star became unbearable for my playing PG in The One.
I bring the ball up and if I wait a few seconds for the offense to get setup I'll lose the ball every time. I've stopped driving as much and try to only make smart drives but it still results in me turning the ball over more often than it should and I only take safe passes now but I almost never get an assist from safe passes and trying to actually make passes to open teammates also results in very frequent turnovers.
I've turned the difficulty back down to Pro but I'm afraid it'll be too easy. I'm going to try it and really give it a chance at pro like I have at all star but if there isn't any challenge I'm shelving this one.NCAA: Kentucky Wildcats

You probably have to throw a cross at them. The thing is, if you are just faced up on the perimeter, like you just caught the ball, you don't have much room to do any moves. It works better on the move like if you start attacking the basket as soon as you can, like coming across half court. haha.
It's also not easy, imo, to get a good J vs anyone. I find it much easier to get into the lane vs people, and as long as they have the auto-blocks tuned down you can start your driving animation pretty far away from the basket.
In the demo, you could play 1 v 1 I'd put it on Curry v Kyrie and be Kyrie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTMXzFDsDtE that's mad early in the game's build, but it's kinda the same idea. But str matters a lot in that bump animation. Like @ :42 that's kind of what you need to do, once you get separation like you get their body off you, you have angles you can take.
Can also ease up off turbo. You basically don't want to create contact animations w/ people who have a lot more str than you. or if you do, you wanna come back away from their body then throw a move and go around them. It seems like if you hard drive into someone and they cut off your dribble move you pick up the ball, but I think if you drive toward them without going so hard you have more leeway. And go wide around.
It's not 'easy' but it's doable. It's way more do-able, to me, than getting a J without a pick, but I generally suck at getting Js, I just pull up right on people, but they go in decently.
Just remember you can bounce off people, like going thru in football, but if you do a hard drive on superstar the cpu can make you pick up your stuff, or worse, they just take the ball from you.
edit: also, play online haha.
Edit2: epic double post.

Yeah, I mean, what I learned playing ball handler in the one is that you need to orchestrate everything, you need to make them shoot. It's really money to pass in to the post and make them shoot, if they are posted up (just make sure they have em sealed or the cpu will steal every time), same with passing throw it out to the guy in the corner from half court and it looks like he's guarded but he's probably going to wet it if he's capable of shooting.
I'm on the fence as to whether that is cheesy, cuz that's how the computer plays. It's basically being the computer and using their strs against them, then of course playing lock down D on their pg so they start their offense late or you might get a steal on the pass back to the pg. And of course push the break.

It could be because I was being guarded by Patrick Beverly. Every other point guard the Clippers had in the game that made me so frustrated felt pretty okay against but Beverly was an absolute nightmare. I had 0 assists and 6 turnovers and every single one was because of himNCAA: Kentucky Wildcats

Re: Live 19 Patch 1.15 notes
This game is annoying. They overdosed on blocks and steals. Passing feel very sluggish. The amount of stolen passes is insane. The amount of on ball steals is insane too. Also I notice fast breaks really don't exist. The catch up logic on fast breaks is crazy. I am determined to make this game play better though, personal challenge of mines since I like to tinker with things. However with the very limited amount of sliders and ratings, it is like climbing up a building with skates on.Comment

Re: Live 19 Patch 1.15 notes
I've been using Thalivekings sliders and they work for me. You have to be smart with your passes but I get fast breaks and you can always reduce blocks or steals by reducing those sliders or reducing shot contest.Comment
