Totally forgot about OG and Rob joining EA. Hopefully it's not another case of EA buying something just so the other company won't have it (remember how many years it took them to actually use the ESPN license...?).

The problem is that every generation they start over and over again. You never know what you are going to get, if you are going to get it, there is no consistency.

And also, EA tends to make their game look mediocre. With proper edits, some Live games play great, but EA will make you go through endless hours of editing to showcase it. They just don't care enough about their basketball games. It's a "Take it or leave it" attitude, that I could never understand.

I've been editing and playing Live 18 for months, and it's a great game. But it takes a lot of time to make it shine.
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

Even then, EA has barely utilized ESPN over the last 15 years. As far as I know, they used ESPN in the NCAA series, Head Coach, and Live. They primilary used ESPN license for marketing/advertisement. I feel like they coud have utilized more in games. Even if they wanted to keep EA broadcast, they could have had ESPN news hubs in menus.

Would have to imagine that they will move Live to the Frostbite Engine. Still don't like that EA mandated that their titles uniformly use the Frostbite when it was intended for Battlefield.

The question is how the Frostbite engine can improve the game. Is it just a buzz word or is it really going to take the game to the next level? I think much more important than the engine, is how much they care about their basketball title. The last 10 years they didn't really care much about it.

Another question is has Frostbite improved Fifa and Madden outside of visuals? I don't believe NHL ever transitioned from Ignite.

I mean they have to at least somewhat care about NBA Live. The game only had like 5 releases from 2010-2020. Any other publisher would have pulled plug. The licenses are far from cheap. But, like I said before we don't know EA's NBA License status is. Yeah EA has deep pockets, but would they pay a 7yr 1.1 billion deal for a struggling series.
