Originally posted by sirjamActually its just like Mike said on steals and blocks, occassionally you can get some of rebounds but its rare. Also you have to have numbers like he said and you can get some nice breaks, especially if you steal near half court.Comment

If you get a rebound and try to push it the fastbreaks will not work and the players will stop at the three-point line and turn adn catch the pass. But, on a steal or block and fastbreak is under way. if you get a steal your guards will sprint up the court and streak towards the hoop, catching the ball on the run. Same if you block a shot, pass the ball up because your players will be streaking. Also, your players will not streak to the hoop if you don't have numbers.
I think that EA does this because they don't want the game to become a run n' gun type on every play. They want you to give the ball to the point and set up the offense.
Not to mention it has to make an animation to justify everything that happens..... in doing so, it forces animations to happen, if you want an example of that, take a look at those fake gliding blocks any player with a block rating above 60 can do.
My only problem is, games are almost as competitive on All Star than on Superstar, and the fast breaks are more realistic on that level....... the computer gets more fast breaks on All-Star, too.
But I get around, this is the first game since Live 2000 I can get realistic stats on 12 minute quarters, with blocks as an exception.......Last edited by PlayaHataSupreme; 01-30-2005, 11:56 PM.Favorite Teams:

Re: Do people not realize that the fastbreaks DO work in Live 05?
Yep, I haven't had problems with fastbreaks in this game personally.
Sonicimage, I get realistic assists. Try Playmakers sliders and his playbooks. I know people didn't think playbooks were working, but that's because they were changing from Dynamic. You have to change the quick plays, coz that's what the CPU uses. CPU averages between 15 and 20 assists a game against me. I have had nash, kidd etc get over 10 assists against me a few times.Comment

I average around 4 with McGrady and my PGs put together average around 7....... so that may be a slightly low number.........
The computer sometimes gets 12 assists with their PGs, other times they struggle to get more than 5. I would like to see more 15 assist nights from CPU PGs, Brevin Knight style........Favorite Teams:

Re: Do people not realize that the fastbreaks DO work in Live 05?
One thing I have come to like about Live over ESPN is that you really have to work to get your assists and fast breaks. I play on Superstar with slight slider tweaks and a downloaded roster and I manage a few here and there. Sometimes I instigate it by taking control of a player and sending him down court as soon as the cpu releases the shot and others just naturally come. When I play good defense and get a steal near half court, I can get fast breaks. Also, the fast break button really does work in comparison to just the pass button or icon passing.
In my games on 9 minute quarters, I average around 30+ assists a game as a team even if I don't get to the century mark point wise. Also, on Superstar, the cpu does a good job of getting assists with their point guards and the numbers vary depending on how good of a guard they are. Earlier today, I got a triple double with Kobe, Lamar had six assists and Chucky had five. I can get assists and rebounds too easily in ESPN, when I get triple doubles in Live, I feel like I really earned it.
So about the assists and fast breaks, it just may be the way you're playing the game.Comment

Re: Do people not realize that the fastbreaks DO work in Live 05?
I can run the occasional fast break. Most times it doesn't work...occasionally it does.
My biggest gripe is the CPU is absolutely f********** terrible at running them. In fact, they can't. Sure they get the odd block that leads to a break.
That is not a true fast break.
I have purposely pulled my defenders away and let the CPU have a 3 on 1. They'll have KIDD, CARTER and RJ in the open court...and Kidd slides like an old man while RJ and Vince walk like blind ducks to the three point lines.
It's beyond bad.
Anyone stating otherwise doesn't know what the hell a fast break is...and obviously doesn't want it fixed for 2006.
Bottom line, it's time for EA to fix it as it was crap in 2K4 also.Comment
