Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
Came across this article from sports gamers online claiming that the Live team has mostly been moved on to other projects with most of them now working on Madden. Does SGO have any credibility? I do not know anything about their site and if they have actual contacts that would have any knowledge. Seems strange they would poach a couple of members from the NBA 2k team just to disband the Live team so I am not sure I believe this article. However they promised to keep the fans updated and we have never again heard a peep so It is certainly a possibility. link below.

Re: Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
I fully doubt it for this year at the very least. I'm not sure they want to give it up. They are still doing well with Live Mobile. They can afford to pay the NBA License. I would love to see a return. Even if it isn't released this year, it would still be nice to hear a status update on the series.
As the OP said, Dugan was a creative director for Live now he is with Madden. But, I don't see where Scott OG and Rob Jones would work if it wasn't for a NBA title. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to rebrand themselves. Yes the NBA Elite debacle is still in many minds, but it'll likely be 4 years since last release. So, might as well rebrand since the Live name has been tarnished.Comment

Re: Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
Yeah I am also just waiting to see if they surprise announce anything at the EA Play event. If not I am just going to put this series out of my mind and probably basketball games in general because I have been so disappointed with the other franchise as well. I really though live 18 and 19 started a good direction with real potential but with the team refusing to give any sort of update I have just about lost all hope at this point.Comment

Re: Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
I've been thinking for a good while that OG and Rob could be on the college football team. Rob use to work on Madden back in the day and OG is apparently very knowledgeable about football as well.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
It's possible. OG has creative director in his Twitter bio. I don't see it being Madden. So, it could likely be CFB. If it is, we won't hear anything from that for at least a year to early 2023.Comment

"July 20 at 10:00am PT / 7:00pm CET: More EA SPORTS!
Look, we’re not allowed to tell you much about this one yet, sorry. But we can say this Spotlight will highlight an extremely cool new addition to an extremely popular and long-running EA SPORTS franchise. We may have said too much already. Just keep your calendar free, OK? "
I seen on Twitter speculate that this could mean a new sports game being added to the EA Sports slate. Some are suggesting it can be a return of a older sports franchise title. Some are hoping Fight Night, NBA Street, SSX, etc. I don't see Fight Night, yet. I think they want to see how ESBC does sell wise, before jumping back into it. I wouldn't mind seeing a NBA Street return, as well as a EA Sports BIG return. Those arcade titles were well received in the 6th generation.Comment

Think it'll be Live, too late to announce college Football and too early for college basketball. And outside of fight night nobody cares.Comment

College football was already confirmed to come back by EA on feb 3. MAYBEE COLLEGE BASKETBALL but that’s a full court shot.

Re: Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
I don't know why I never considered it but it could simply just be the new FIFA. Everyone is assuming it is bringing back a dormant franchise but the actual statement I think only said new addition. They technically have not announced the upcoming FIFA yet and we all know FIFA is their most popular franchise worldwide.Comment

Re: Could Live Finally Be Dead? New Info.
I still think it's Live it's gotta be why did Scott OG and Rob Jones leave 2K in order to work on something that's not basketball?
If it's not Live it could be Fight Night but with ESBC getting the rights to every fighter under the sun that roster would look a bit weak imo. Maybe it's MVP baseball coming back? NCAA basketball? Now here's a wild card what if it's Def Jam the fighting games.Comment

I doubt the ESBC deals are exclusive. But, I see EA waiting to see how successful that game is first before jumping back into boxing. But, I wouldn't be surprised if if ESBC is successful, that EA tries to quickly swoop in and get exclusive boxing deals. EA loves exclusive deals. It's a good business practice, it just sucks for consumers because you'll have to go through EA to get what you want. I don't see MVP coming back. I see EA trying to get the Arcade MLB license for Super Mega Baseball and going that route. I don't see NCAA basketball coming back, initially. I'm not going to completely shut door on CBB, but I don't think the CBB games ever sold that well. If NCAA Football sold around an average of 2-3 million copies, the College Basketball games had to be selling less than that. Yes the O'Bannon case was a significant factor, but both EA and 2k dropped out of CBB before they had to because of sales. Same goes for Def Jam. I think Def Jam fit better in the early 2000s era compared to this era of Hip Hop.
I can see EA wanting to expand its sports division. But, I do think that July 20th announcement is about the Hypermotion tech for Fifa. When it says "new addition to a long running franchise", that points to something new to an active game.Comment
