I have blown so many quarters playing this game in the mid 90s. I would still rather play this game over any other bball game. It was made by Konami in their Jamma cabinet, and for a time I was trying to get the kit, and a cab to actually own it, but I'm not handy enough so I ditched the idea.
With the xbox live marketplace and playstation network, they could unleash this puppy again, and if they did, it would be glorious. Even though I heart this game, I have no idea how popular (or not) it was/is, do any os'ers remeber this title? Did you like it as much as me? Was it a 'hit' and/or widespread?
Some cool things about the game: Dribbling was context dependent, so that if no one is guarding you bringing it up the court it was normal dribbling, but if someone was in front of you and you are still holding 'up' you would start to do dribbling 'moves' and coudln't move forward much if you were being guarded well, but it felt fluid and just about right.
Put-back jams were monstrous.
It was 2d animated, but 3d at the same time, hard to explain.
Had a quasi college mixed with pros feel.
I hope I'm not the only one, this game rocked and I would love to force konami to put it on the xbla
