Re: Which is better and why?
I can`t tell you what to buy because that is your decision and everybody has their own preferences.
But i will tell you mine. The more i play the live demo the more i hate it. I was really blown away by the wow factor when i first tried it, but now that i am more or less used to the game i absolutely hate it. I hate the animations when it comes to blocking and certain moves. Players still seem to stand around when rebounding i have seen numerous times when the rebound still falls to the floor and everybody is just standing there. Live is still using the same PA announcer since 99 it seems.
As for 2k i cant say nothing about it because i have not played it but it does look pretty good from the screenshots and the video.
But i will say this to me live is not even better than 2k8 right now.
Funny thing is i love the practice gym in live and the way the player moves, but for some reason it seems to turn into a completely different game when you play 5 on 5
I am not persuading anyone to buy either game that choice is up to YOU.
i would love to hear from others and what they have to say -
Re: Which is better and why?
live has terrible AI and i dont support ea games.
2k is a very well done game.
nba 09 should also be mentioned here, as i think it will be a lot better this year with the life feature.
2k takes it right now, but id be on the look out for nba 09.Comment

Re: Which is better and why?
It all depends on what's important to you and what you like.
After playing the Live demo I would say you can't go wrong either game though. But if you've never played a pro game before I would go with 2K. It seems like most people's complaints about 2K9 are that the game play is going to be essentially the same it's been since 2K6. But it'll be new to you if you've never played any 2K games before!"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Which is better and why?
I love the live 09 demo. The playcalling/pick n roll system is brilliant, a lot of new animations this year that are nice, great graphics and authenticity, fun factor is through the roof, groundbreaking features ( dynamic dna etc. ).Comment

Re: Which is better and why?
Hard choice because everyone like different games... I would say you should rent them before you buy. Or just take a lucky guess and buy one.
Id go with the game that has the most gameplay options along with which one has better graphics.
Check out this site. NBA 09 The Inside looks sweet. Ill also tell you which one id never buy "LIVE"

Re: Which is better and why?
Live is a great game. It's probably teh best NBA Live game ever. Ever played Live? DId you like it?
Even if you take out the glitches of 2k, I still like Live better. This year is Live's. I am not a fanboy of either I just call it like I see it. There is a lot more you can do in Live...
The main thing that 2k has on Live is much better animations. Live's computer is harder and smarter and their online play does not lag at all.
PS: Dynamic DNA... roster updates all the time. That is AWESOME.

You said Live offers more...? What does it offer more besides updating rosters quicker?Comment

Re: Which is better and why?
Seems like both of the games have some glitches. Live has never had great graphics. As far as playing the computer...you can make them hard or as easy as you want. Im yet to play NBA09 The Inside online yet but as far as everything else goes with the game I have no complaints.

Re: Which is better and why?
I have played the game online....and even though it is 1080p 60fps... the game stayed the same online.... this is what I want from next gen Sports games.......no lag... its frustration to play Madden online....its better this year, but still not as smooth as it should be...Comment

Re: Which is better and why?
I think it depends on what you want. They all have something that is done better than the other. I have all 3 and play all of them equally although with Socom now out I will have to make up my mind soon.
2K - Animations are truly life like. Maybe difficult to do moves if you are not use to 2K BBall games. They should have put in more of a practice arena in the game. You can practice by yourself or with 5 on 5 or 5 on none. 1 on 1 or fast breaks would be good to show how moves are done. Graphics are also great. Players look like players as far as size goes. Unis look great when in motion, look just like the real uniforms they wear. Halftime/Post game shows are really well done.
Live - Graphics are great. Player faces look like really good. During some cut scenes make the players look like they have vaseline on them. Very shinny. Unis seem to move way to freely. Shorts kind of bunch up when the players jump. Academy and practice are really done well. They show you how to do moves and play D. 5 on 5 and everything. Moves are easy to preform but, work nicely when you combo them together. Presentation is ok but, 2k did a better job with this. Although play by play is a lot better in Live then 2k.
The Life needs to get one. BUT, if you are into up and down kind of style with very little D being played this game is for you. The Life mode is really well done, maybe to short. Next year I can really see them expanding this feature and my sway some gamers to this. I don't like the graphics in this game even though its in full 1080 HD. Players seem very week. Like high schoolers. No muscle to the players. Lives players seem to muscular but, 2k did a good job with this. KG and other skinny people look like there life counter parts.
2K and Live both have online play with 5 on 5 but, they are both having online issues. So I guess we'll find out about those features later when the companies get the servers together. I haven't played The Life online.
All games are really good and offer something for everyone. It's your money so don't let some one that "doesn't support 2k or EA" sway your decision. Download the demos and choose for yourself. Either way have fun. It's a great year to be a basketball fan. Choices for video games are great.Moderator

Re: Which is better and why?
i have always been a 2k b-ball fan since the dreamcast. i bought 2k9 just because i knew i would like it etc. but when i popped it in, it was what i expected an awesome realistic style of b-ball. but i got bored quickly, like its a been there done that before type feeling. i duno why, great game but something just felt the same.. which maybe not a bad thing.
i then downloaded the nba 09 demo and played it a good bit, it was like a breath of fresh air for some reason. maybe i just needed a different type of game, a change of pace.. now im considering buying the full version of nba 09, selling my 2k copy and then maybe just picking up 2k9 for the pc at 19.99.. that way, i can get both my nba game fixes for just $80 instead of $120.. plus im a casual nba fan, i watch probably 65 Cavs games a year. attended maybe 2 of them at the Q etc. ugh, its good to have choices i guess lol.Twitch
