Free throw. I could live a year off of $5,000

but I would be tempted to shoot a three. That would be 5 years!!!

Definitely a three, I have about the same chance of making a FT as an unguarded three that I don't have to rush.

        Re: You get one shot...

No doubt I would go with the 3-ball. With no defense I easily make 5 or 6/10 currently. In college, that would have been 7 or 8/10. That was 10 years ago though.

FT sounds easy, but I probably only make 8/10 or 9/10, so I'd play my odds of going for $25K at a 50+% clip vs. the 5K at 80% or so.

Three ball for the easy cash. Hence my screen name. I destroy people in 3pt contests.

As GSW mentioned, depends if NBA three or college three.

Tough choice though, I'd probably go for the simpler 5K and call it a day.

For everyone who is asking, its an NBA 3 pointer. And you can't take any warm up shots.

OK, so $1,000 is for a dunk. Only 6'2" guys or shorter. This should be fair.

I normally kinda do a Shawn Marion-style low release with a lot of backspin and can bank that in at a high percentage.. it's actually similar to Kevin Love's trick shots in that it's almost a chest pass but is more accurate than an arcing jumper.

I can make that from halfcourt too, but there's too much of a margin of error with the ball travelling the extra distance. If you invest $25K wisely, you'll have that $100K in no time...
WTF? After reading that description I think you need to have someone shoot a vid of you doing that.

3pter from straight away although an easy 5 grand would be hard to turn down.

I guess I'd go with the FT since its an NBA 3 and there aren't any warmups. Sometimes I'll come out cold with my shot and it can take me awhile to find my rhythm, so a free throw would be best. Plus as a college student, I'll take 5k anyday.

                            Re: You get one shot...

I'd probably take the three-pointer. A free throw isn't all that much easier than a three-pointer and given that the three pays five times as much, I'd say that the three-pointer is the best bet.

The half-court shot is way too low of a percentage and the full-court shot would have no chance. I'm not even sure if I could lunge the basketball full-court. I know I can from the opposite free throw line, but I don't think I can throw the ball from baseline to baseline.

EDIT: Oh, it's an NBA three-pointer. Well, that makes it a LOT tougher. I'd still probably go for the three, but that makes it a tougher decision.

I'd rank them half court shot (I'm pretty good at getting pretty close most of the time), ft (should be way easier than a 3pter), 3pter, then full court shot (no chance of going in).

In a whole different vein of logic...the full court.

Even if my odds seem greater at free throw, they're tanked by the fact I'm shooting for money. I'm just as likely to brick it hard from nerves as to airball it. The same for a three.

Half court becomes a more of a luck shot so...me personally, I feel less pressure taking it. So I'd just double down and go for the full...almost all luck. I miss then I've lost virtually nothing because the odds were agianst me even hitting a free throw in the first place for cash.

                                Sorry if that's confusing
