I love both games this year, but for different reasons. Live gives me a great sim game, I like to play it when I have plenty of time on my hands to strategize. 2K is great for the my player mode and for times I want to unwind and have a fun arcade game inky association.

Right now for me Live is just for online play...but im a huge offline guy. After the beauty of the mid range jumpers, good looking boxscore and smooth offensive sets wore off...Live just lost its appeal to me....The fact that I can experience the atheleticism and speed of the game in 2k is what keeps it in my tray...and with the right sliders...i can even get a good sim game going...best of both worlds imo. Dont get me wrong, the half court game in Live is near perfect when it comes to running plays and all that...but thats not the entire game of ball. Too often do I feel like im playing percentages then the game itself..

I'm enjoying both games, however playtime is about 85% NBA LIVE 10, 15% NBA 2k10.

I still enjoy the online of Live 10 a lot better than NBA 2k10. Just more fun IMO.

Problem with NBA 2k10...sliders. After a while, I just get SICK of having to tweak, retweak, and tweak again my sliders to get a decent game. Gets old, quick.

Pick and roll defense is non-existent in 2k10. Apparently they'll be addressing it in the patch.

Quick Pick and Roll = money. Help D is not stepping up on the cutter.

I enjoy both games as well.

IMO, 2K10 is clearly the deeper of the two games. From a game play perspective, commentary, game play modes, etc. It does need some slider tweaks but I'm close to settling on a set that suits my play style.

Live on the other hand is ADDICTIVE as hell. Even though 2k is deeper IMO, I've played probably twice the number of games in Live! The silly turnaround 20ft. jumpers, players standing out of bounds, obvious scripted game play, and quite a few other things. Why do I keep playing this game? Maybe it's a quest to get it to play right. Whatever.

2K10= a more complete BBall experience.

Live10=more ADDICTIVE

I'm enjoying both games as well. For me, playing Live is like playing an RPG. Why I use that comparsion is, similar to what others have said. Live is not a game you just pop in for mindless entertainment.(I.E Action title) You really have to be on point when playing that A.I. You have to to put away time so you can be fully engaged to play it. Strategy etc.

2k is just more fun to play right now. With subtle tweaks, I can get my sim experience(to a point). Which is why you almost have to have both games this year. They offer completely different experiences which is just awesome for a B-ball gamer like myself.

If Live can add more contextual animations, not neccessarily signature ones, I think it would be an absolute beast. Live has a solid "foundation" or base gameplay mechanic thanks to the dev team this year, they just need to build more bricks around it. IMO of course...

I enjoyed the hell of out of Live for a week while I got aggravated with Nk10's issues on the pS3 and returned the game...now, with a working and frankly beautiful version of 2k10 on pc I now find Live repetitive,scripted and very basic.

Not sure what my play time ratio will be for awhile.

A lot of it depends on what you want / need in an NBA game...and me and you are very similar 24. I am pretty much the same with the point in bold...athleticism. The NBA is the most athletic sporting competition in the world, but in LIVE i don't even have to defend 95% of the time off my own misses...the CPU walks the ball up so slowly. I've even completely not bothered defending, and they still walk it up and set up a play 99% of the time. Fast break points are almost non existant.

However...whilst LIVE 09 didn't have any fastbreaking, at least LIVE 10 has 'something'...once or twice you see the CPU run some sort of fastbreak. Hopefully they can add more with a patch. CPU fastbreaks + rebounds + blocks fixed and LIVE would be great. At the moment though, those are three massively important aspects of basketball that are done very poorly by the CPU.

If you are playing online or with friends...none of these are issues.

If you mainly play the CPU though...............

Anyone else feel like we need the two teams to come together and make a basketball game united?

I mean both are lacking exactly what the other HAS. It's annoying for each year. I think the perfect NBA game is only made when these two come together.

I tried. I tried reaaaaal hard to enjoy 2K but the glitches just killed it along with the already mentioned complete inability to defend the PnR when they double the ball handler every time,the poor AI game management and the lack of help D & fouls even with the slider at max.

Got some nice highlights at least,there was some good tunes on there and the dunk contest was fun for a bit so it wasn't all bad and had a few good points but other than that it wasn't a pleasant experience.

I'm enjoying 2K10 more and more... got a few slider sets and just toning down the shooting craziness did a lot for my enjoyment of the game. I'm like Mo where player movement and stuff like that still bothers me often, but the overall package is pretty good and 2K still has that "looks like a real game" charm that Live doesn't really. My Player has picked up and I haven't run into so many glitches after the initial startup, so I'm enjoying that as more as well, crazy shot %s and all.

I've been playing random NBA Today games and having a good time. I tend to jump on the CPU on Superstar difficulty and don't have a problem winning with even the crappiest of teams, so I think Live is still the more challenging game thus far. I haven't played 2K10 in a regular game online yet, but I plan to do that soon and see how it plays with another sim opponent... it's tolerable for me offline w/sliders, which is an improvement over 2K9, which was barely tolerable, even with those awesome nogster rosters.

Heh, lets just say that I'm very happy spending $75 to get both games... worked out about as well as I could've hoped. Now I have 2 games that each have their strengths/weaknesses to play.. I could deal with both games as-is and probably would play both through October, but I'm expecting further improvements after the patches drop. All in all, a good year to be a basketball gamer. I'd feel a little burned if I paid $120 for them, but $75 is a GREAT deal for all this entertainment. Thanks Best Buy/Wal-Mart!
