Re: Which Game Is More "SIM" After Patches For Each

What the heck happened to this thread? WOW! See, this is what I'm talking about. A new member who is now banned starts calling out people that have been here for years. Some people need to really check thereselves...

Anyway, can we get back on track?

Now, that the other patch is coming out for Live tomorrow or I guess today depending on were you live. Wait... We really can't compare a game that well have gotten 2 patches vs. a game that's had 1? Or could be. You know what, I know it won't happen until Jan sometime but, I'm gonna wait until then to finally compare each. I will say this though, if EA fixed some gameplay issues reb, transition game, etc... they could really make this interesting...

As of right now, 2k is really playing a great game of bball after their patch. I'm really impressed with it. The amount of things that were fixed is just mind bottling. Hopefully for EA's sake they have the same kind of patch. We'll see though...

LIVE definitely has the Suns down perfectly (to control).

I am back playing both games. My Mrs is pregnant and sleeping early most nights...so I'm enjoying playing both late at night at the moment and hoping the LIVE patch is good. Next season I'll likely have way less time, so I am just trying to enjoy them this time around

SIM is a hard word to define...LIVE definitely "sims" the Suns well...2K "sims" a lot of other teams better than LIVE.

Even if Live patches a lot of things I don't see it beating out 2K10 as a whole, Live will still struggle to have lasting appeal because outside of Dynamic Season there isn't much to keep people coming back besides the game play.

That being said, I still plan on playing Live throughout the winter because there are elements about it that I love - but it won't be more than a DS game here and there. It will be interesting to see how exciting Dynamic Playoffs get come April and how into that I am.

2K10 frustrates me with its player control, primarily ball-handling/perimeter stuff. I'm going to keep working it at, I've mostly been spending time in practice mode working on post moves and isomotion. But the game does a lot of things well so I plan on sticking with it too.

From a "sim" perspective I'm not sure there's anything that I absolutely love about 2K10 but the fact that the only thing I don't like so far is the LS controls and isomotion is huge. It's like everything is good-to-great in 2K10 with nothing that's absolutely amazing IMO (though the CPU's offense is up there) - but nothing is dreadful or will repeatedly make you shake your head. Live has two or three areas that are absolutely amazing but a lot of sub-par areas. 2K10 is easily more well-rounded, but that should be expected - we can't lose sight of how bad the Live series has been and how much ground they have to make up. Live 10 has made a very large step forward but I think people are sleeping on how big of an improvement 2K10 is over 2K9. While not as large as Live's one year leap (and it didn't need to be) I think it is the biggest improvement in a single year for a 2K game. Almost every complaint I had with 2K9 is gone with 2K10.

Great quote there...I think you just nailed my exact same feelings on these games

Most of my best moments this season...the absolute "wow" moments...most of them have come in LIVE. The things it does well it absolutely is brilliant.

But all of my "WTF...this is garbage" moments (and there's been a lot of them) have also come in LIVE.

2K10 is kind of like Tim Duncan...you never really get any great "wow" moments, but all the fundamentals are so well covered and the basketball IQ is superb.

LIVE is kind of like Lamar Odom...it does some amazing things and gets you out of your seat ...but then it does so many boneheaded things that you wonder how they even released it.

Note : I am a big LO fan...but you'd take Tim Duncan every day to build a team around obviously.

Great post Ehh, agreed on all points.

Even the whole "dynamic season" thing has kinda been worthless to me. I thought that when i first heard about this feature it would be something i would use a lot but it really has gotten my attention in any way. I guess because the core gameplay still needs a fair bit of work these extra bells and whistles don't carry as much weight.

Re: Which Game Is More "SIM" After Patches For Each

I'm voting 2k10. I can't get passed the WTF moments in Live. It's just driving me crazy, I really wanted to like this game but, I can't get passed some of the craziness that happens. <O</O
<O</O

I love the player control in Live, 2k drives me nutty when trying to do certain moves.

If I could switch the controls from Live to 2k I would give 2k a 10. But, to answer the question. I hate using "sim" so if you asked me what game feels, plays, looks and resembles the game of basketball the most. I'd have to say 2k. Live is getting there but, not yet...<O</O

Re: Which Game Is More "SIM" After Patches For Each

More sim in the post = 2K10 by a landslide.

Live probably has one of the worst post games I've ever seen. You've all seen Guru's and Dre's videos of Shaq getting monstered around by Chris Anderson...Anderson pushing Shaq around like a rag doll...

You can actually do that with *any* player...even Nate Robinson can push around Dwight Howard.

Live and "sim" should just never be in the same sentence when the words "post game" are used.

Perimter game in LIVE = a very good SIM of NBA ball.

Post game in LIVE = just don't even go there....beyond bad.
