Re: The "I like live but gone back to 2k" thread

I played LIVE last night and switched Ty Lawson to Center.

Ty Lawson...the 5 foot nothing point guard.

I played Cleveland...and using Ty Lawson, I could back down Shaq.

If you don't believe me, go and try it.

Put Nate Robinson at center and back down Dwight Howard...you can.

I am not going to post this in the LIVE forum as those fellas are having fun and I don't want to ruin the "illusion".

There's no physicality in LIVE...no strength...

Ty Lawson beasting Shaq in the paint =

LIVE needs to address a hell of a lot of areas. The movement is superb, but things like the post game are horrible. Beyond bad. How can you have a game where post strength doesn't exist? It's basketball. How can a 5 foot 5 point guard back down and beast around a 7 footer

Right on CV I just wish the points you and I bring up are acknowledged by Mike or the new producers somehow so that gives us a glimmer of hope at least

See, the thing is man, when CV and others bring up points like the one he just made, posters in the Live forum try to write it off as lies. I've seen Court_vision attacked multiple times and call a 2K lover. It's not that he loves 2K, he just wants the best game possible! They start attacking the source whenever they say something, making it impossible for a good point to be found in a thread. I remember when people first brought up the 3 pt glitch, everyone wrote it off, I even believe some people got infractions. The community needs to stop being so argumentative and just hear out what people have to say without calling them a 2K homer. If we come together, we can try to get the best out of these basketball games.

I was initially impressed with Live, especially the upgrade to the controls and atmosphere, but I'm back to 2K. 2k just has way too many realistic animations and the assoc mode is too deep. Another thing that I just got completely put off by Live is the fact that the players and also the shots feel like they have no weight to them. 2k feels very realistic in that aspect.

My god theres a new generation of clueless gamers.

Dude, those animations, ha..ha..ha you know...THEYRE UNCONTROLLABLE, as in they happen without any trigger. Do you like to watch basketball game animations or actually trigger them and control them?

And man you are so clueless talking about weight to jumpshots, first off Live has momentum gathers which is "weight" if there even is weight to jump shooting, but in 2K the players are on puppet strings and magically lift off the same way from any motion.

And btw, dont tell me you're talking about the two step shuffle that gives you a sense of weight, its the most frustrating thing out of 2K.

2K has no momentum in jumpshots and Live does, and its customers like you who are clueless that bring down the quality of video games because you accept the status quo.

Ahhh, love the personal attacks. And new generation of clueless gamers??? Funny man. I go back to the atari, colecovision days. You can probably call me daddy.

So anyways, look here little jordan...... carry on with defending Live with all your might. Won't change my opinion. I own both games and think Live is very solid. Just cant take over 2k for me.

Give credit where credit is due. Don't come on boards spreading false information hurting a game when it doesn't deserve it. Live is bad as it is but at least let it have the limelight in the categories it excelled in.

And as far as age goes, is that really your call to credibility? I mean I know guys that lived long that don't have a clue about anything let alone video games.

I'll judge you by your words and your words are quite ignorant. It's not personally aimed at you but towards all consumers who need to stop being ignorant and see it like it is.

If anything me calling you out is a plea to reconsider what you see in these games and at least ponder my point of view.

Lol at anyone not agreeing with your views being ignorant. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if people like these games for what they are there is nothing about that which makes them clueless or ignorant.

                  Grow up please.

Opinions about a particular game play aspect that isn't there? That's quite an objective topic, either its real or its not, we don't play the game blind.

I didn't even comment on what game he should like or not like.

                    Reading comprehension please.

Perhaps but the level of importance placed on certain aspects is totally up to the individual. For example you find the faults in both of these games to be "game killers" where as i see them as minor annoyances that still allow me to enjoy both products.

Simply because you feel these problems are more serious than i do does not make your opinion more valid and it certainly does not mean myself or countless thousands of others who like these games have "serious mental issues" as you so eloquently put it. You seem to be under the misguided impression that your opinion is more important than anyone else.

Count me in with liking 2K better. The players in NBA Live are too fast and don't have enough momentum to them. Also, while the game looks very nice, the colors are too bright and "videogame" looking. 2K looks and plays much closer to realistic basketball IMO and is the game I'll choose most of the time. With that being said - NBA Live is probably more fun to be had with a few buds and brews.

The playbooks are useless because guys take so long to set up the play - it doesn't work with a 24 second shot clock even if you call a play the instant you inbound the ball. Plus actually getting your ball handler to where he needs to be is an incredible chore, so many plays just die/break because of this. I basically dump it into the post, call a pick and roll or try to clumsily iso-motion past my defender. Having real limited control over my guys and not being able to run plays is absolutely killing 2K10 for me.
Honestly I found this description misleading if compared to how the game really plays

I really like both games and play both of them a ton. I am just giddy to have two games that offers everything for me. This "phenomenon" hasn't happened for me as a sports gamer for a few years now.

I honestly don't know how a war could break out over which is better; man, both games are good enough to offer something for everyone. Bottomline for me...both games are fun to play.

agreed, i find myself playing both for obvious reasons stated. live's player movement/play calling/court spacing and 2k's association/post play/fast breaks/customization options are what matter most to me.

initially bought live thinking i'd play just that. but bought 2k as well to complement. think more WTF moments happen in live than 2k, but the stuff live does well just too good to ignore. it's just a pain in the *** switching from one control scheme to the other!!
