Maybe the dudes across the pond can take Euphoria and make Backboard-Breaker for anyone who is dissatisfied with the current basketball offerings.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I'd take any of the above

Someone else needs to step in. A totally customizable basketball game would be nice.

I just can't get into either so I just started a season with Live 05 (PC) with the latest trade deadline roster from nba-live.com and I'm having some good fun again.

We need someone new definitely. Or let them take a year off and make something new. The same frustrations for a decade is called complacency.

Now that Live definitely is not competition 2K11 will just be more add ons to entice the lazy sports gamer who just wants a quick fix for $60.

I think back breaker will be the new breed of sports gaming and what sports gaming needs. Hopefully a new company with the NBA license will also license euphoria and create a new breed of basketball games.

If I had the money to invest, I'd invest in NBA euphoria.

I cant get with the arcade way myself man. NBA Jam just has little appeal to me for my gaming needs. Its sad that you are being driven to this though...defnitely not the best time in the bball gaming world.

Re: Done with Live and 2K...

Haven't played Live since 2008, but NBA 2K10 is a great game IMO. Sure, the 2nd patch made things quite difficult, but I'm past that frustration as there is still a fun/good game of basketball to be had.

Does there come a point that we, the consumer, desire/expect a certain unattainable/unrealistic expectation in sports video games?

The very nature of a sports video games, w/ these titles coming out every year, and having a shorter development cycle than the Halos, Mass Effects, etc give way to the games not being up to snuff w/ other genres of next-gen games.

So what do we expect companies to do? Put a game out every 2 years? And how will they fund salaries on a 2yr game when the sports divisions of EA, T2, etc expect annual profits?

I would be all about the sports-game developers perhaps taking the even years to iron out bugs/issues, and the odd years would be a new game w/ new features etc. However, there's a larger profit base yr-to-yr than every other year when the new/"updated" game would release so how do we expect video game companies to lessen their chance of making more money for the sake of putting out a quality product when they put out a less-than quality product that people still buy yr-toyr.

Lower the price. Is it that hard to understand they are over paid for the quality they put out? Sports games are not worth 3 year dev time games like Mass Effect 2..

                              Consumers are just STUPID.
