I have to admit that I was completely amped to download the 2K11 demo this morning. I even contemplated staying up late in order to download it. The intros looked cool, the player models looked good, so I was getting really excited...

Until I won the tip off and I had to move with Derek Fisher. I moved the joystick to the left, and Fisher reacts about a second after I move the stick. I said immediately, "Nope, 2K is not going to get me..." I now remember why I never really loved 2K8.

I am very excited for Elite's demo to be honest. Very excited. 2K11 is the same thing, but with a new cover of MJ. Do I like that concept? Absolutely. For Elite to keep up (or beat 2K), they need to do a few things:

Better marketing: Put out videos not of simple highlights, but show more 5 vs 5 gameplay. I don't care too much to see Wade in a practice facility doing crossovers. I can do that at the YMCA. Show me how Elite has progressed, what the gameplay looks like.

Commentary: I love the new switch, but thus far I haven't been too impressed. Van Gundy is a maniac when he speaks, and is always excited, so replicate that in Elite. That's what makes it feel more authentic. 2K's commentary got better because it sounds as if they are actually on the sideline together having a conversation.

Presentation: Won't say too much here, but pleeeeeease add a new intro. I'm tired of seeing some guy go in for a lethargic layup while jogging back to the rebounding line or the spin move where he chucks it off the glass and it doesn't even go in! What about showing guys stretching, or Dwight taking post ups with a trainer, or someone feeding Kobe balls as he's moving? Have the commentary team talk about the previous matchup, or about a great performance someone had. There's so much you could do here to make it feel more alive.

That's just a quick post (lol), but I will probably post later. I'm pumped for elite!

I actually get what this guy is saying...I downloaded the demo as well and although I played 5 "games" on the demo (which is way more than "one move to the left with Fish"), I came away feeling the same way...whether you want to call it "momentum" or not, the game feels sluggish to me...and I have played 2k9 and 2k10 btw...don't get me wrong - 2k11 is improved but playing that demo has actually made me MORE excited for the Elite demo...I'm not saying I will like it but it does make me realize that responsive control is important to me...

That's cool pdawg. I can respect your thoughts/views. At the end of the day as long as we get what we want out of which ever title we go with is all that matters anyway. I'm pulling for both with the comp. as a no-brainer purchase at this point and hoping Elite becomes the same type of purchase decision as well. Peace!!

2k11 has definitely improved control....I can even tell the difference between it and Live 10 movement wise...Live is just a better moving game then 2k, no doubt about it. Problem is, they controlled all thet freedom with wonly contact animations last year...Im eager to see how it feels this year...

problem for me is, after I see how great it FEELS, then what? Seems even more generic than last year.....and im not interested in "well improve that next year" lol

Well most people who thought live 10 was a great game felt alienated because by adding more control they removed some elements that they thought made live 10 great.

Personally for me its still a wait and see/feel.

I just couldnt agree with you more. I wanted to like 2k 11 but i just cant. to me 2k is great at graphics and presentation but the gameplay is just boring and no fun at all to me. Im VERY excited for the elite demo assuming it comes out before the game is released I think this game will be fun. will it have better graphics? probably not, but to me graphics dont make the fun, gameplay does.

I know there are a lot more "lurkers" who feel the same way you do. I've received PM's from many saying they love the new direction and can't wait for the demo.

Yes, there are a lot of people who are interested, but have you guys set a date for releasing the demo yet? I know this is your first year developing the game so it might take extra time to do things, but a ETA would be helpful to people. I know people are buzzing after the last video, which looked like a huge step ahead. I know that I am excited about it, but a lot of people wont buy a new game if they haven't at least played a demo yet.

Personally, I feel the same way a previous poster said about 2K. The animations are so lagged it seems like. They always have been and players just don't move correctly. That is a huge game breaker for me. Elite actually looks like it's going to be incredibly smooth and close to real life. Remember, people can make a game a lot better with sliders, but they can't change the way the players run or react...

Yes, they've set the date. They won't tell anyone until they announce it through press.

Good one. Really helpful post to the discussion. Anyways, the demo will be released soon I'm sure. EA is not stupid, they've been making games for a while. Anyways, people who are going to buy 2k will always hate on Elite and that's the way it is. They can have a roster update with Jordan in it this year and Elite can have a new engine that hopefully is the next big thing. We'll see.

ARe you even thinking before you post, all the footage they've showed us showed the guy from the thunder doinga layup drill by himself...you just described Elite as well..the intro's are limited in both ..in 2k though i think there was a bit more like dwade gripping the rim and Dwight practicing his postups..i think this thread is turning into a 2k hate thread because some of the stuff there saying is in both games or just vague. You speak about 2k's commentary..dude its better because they actually have a conversation together. What are you talking about thats what they do in a real game. Van gundy does have a lot of energy but he sounds way scripted in those vids they showed . The guys speak as if there not even next to eachother .

Would you rather have cool looking intros are a good solid gameplay game? MLB the Show is beat in Commentary and Broadcast by 2k and The Show is FAR superior. Just one example.
