2K should fear the next NBA Live

this part I quoted in red below literally made me shiver in delight, but it should indeed worry the Visual Concepts 2K team because next October, they WILL find out that recycling every year ain't gonna cut it anymore, because brushing up just enough of the game to try to pass it off as "a whole new game" is not gonna produce results any further for their company

"When we rebooted the 'FIFA' franchise, we introduced a whole new team that rebuilt that engine from scratch. We did the same for 'NHL.' We completely rebooted and rebuilt that game....

now PLEASE, I'm not trying to stir the pot like a forum dbag, I dislike and love both Live and 2K equally, and most of us here are true simulation enthusiasts. So no matter if we like Live or 2K better if you ARE a true sim enthusiast this should all be good news, because all that's happening here is 2K made EA step their game up, and now EA is gonna make 2K do the exact same...
THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR FANS OF BOTH FRANCHISES

I giggle like a little girl just thinking about next October when both of these games drop, have a good feeling the simulation crowd is finally gonna see something truly worth the title of "next generation sports sim"

oh and yes I am fully aware I'm puttin all my eggs in one basket, but at this point with all the disappointment we basketball sim enthusiasts have had to deal with, we are pretty much at a dead end, lol, got nothing else to lose

yea but I feel like 2k has more. Like they saved their best cards for 2012. I think the legends were just to battle the lockout and keen interest for next year. No matter the turnout I will most likely get both!

2K should fear the next NBA Live..........as much as I fear drowning in my own pillow drool.

Some people love 2K, some people love EA, and some people just want the best game. To each his own.

EA has a knack for adding some feature or making some aspect of theier game arcady/non sim or a feaute not working/looking like its supposed to. Hell my friends who play FIFA competetively say that EA pretty much ruined the tactics on that game, and that is consensus a great game. I'm still in wait and see mode, though if EA's NBA (insert name here) has good fastbreaks and foamposites I might give them a pass LOL.

Re: 2K should fear the next NBA Live

I'm curious to see what EA is cooking. But then again, I'm not paying EA a dime until I know that their product is on par with my standards (it usually isn't).
But if I were EA, I would stay away from saying "a true AAA EA Sports title". I would just say "a true AAA title". But way to go for telling the truth...LOL. It's definitely rare when it comes to EA.

As for 2K, I'm not sure they need to fear EA (unless there's a real reason for that, and we don't know about it yet). In my opinion, they need something fresh. Saying that 2K11 and 2K12 are great, doesn't mean they don't need some freshness. As much as I like 2K's basketball games, I feel like I need something new. And 2K doesn't change their title enough for me any more. Next year I'll need the full package fresh from 2K (which is why I don't buy brand new copies of 2K's games every year). I won't pay full price for another "great basketball sim" if it's like the difference between 2K11 and 2K12 (regardless of it being considered as the greatest ever for many). It's just too bad that they're probably waiting for the new generation of consoles (though I believe they can still make the game fresh using this generation -but choose not to).

All I want is a Basketball simulation. I can care less as far as which company it comes from because at the end of the day, They are taking my money. The reason I want the next Elite game to be a good game is because it will make 2k step up. There was a time where 2k wasn't basketball king. Plus this is a make or break year for EA, two years in development and if their game sucks, then its just not meant to be.

The thing that keeps me skeptical is didn't EA already rebuild their engine from scratch for NBA Live when it first debuted on next-gen? And we all saw how that went.

On point. I don't give a damn who makes the game, just make a playable sim game were I have complete control over what I do on the court. I'm sick of all the cannimations and sluggish/slow responsiveness! It's 2012 for Fks sake. I'll rent both, and which ever 1 is best I'll run with that. No more midnight launch for b.s. Waste of time, waste of money!

EA hasnt done anything in the last 7 years that even remotely would make anyone Fear them.
Unless of course they had a license EA wanted for thier own.

With that said I also dont care who makes what. Just advance whatever genre it is and I'll be all over it.

the only thing i fear is that Litty kills the series for good.. im curious to see what improvements they have made over Elite. i just hope they still have that great atmosphere they had in Live 10, best in any sports game IMO..

Honestly if EA is still going with Real Time Physics then I believe 2k does have something to fear. People are getting tired of 2k because of canned animations and when the nextgen drop, games is going to be more physic based and by EA implementing RTP in their games now they are setting themselves up to leave 2k behind in the future. Games is coming more believeable now by adding physics to the characters whole body in sports games its not perfect but its getting better year by year and if 2k stick to the way they been doing and think their safe they in for a rude awakening.
