I played a ton of ID 03 last year, and have yet to win a game this year!! I knocked down the 2 point slider down one for me and comp, and I cant sem to hit any J's!!!! O well, gotta practice. I think it was like this for me a while last year, then I hit my stride and started playing good. AT least im not winning every game.

Which teams are you guys using? You have to remember, the game actually has about 10 "extra" levels of difficulty. ie, there's controlling Dallas and LA difficulty...and controlling the Cavs and Magic type difficulty. Poor shooting teams are really hard to use IMO. You really have to play almost exactly to those teams strenghts to win.

You are right Klocks...I don't know WTF the reviewer was smoking saying it's too easy and you can shoot 80%.

Unless he was using LA on rookie level...

Re: I\'m getting frustrated (I suck)

I use the Knicks, and MAN is it hard. I'm 0-3 in my season right now. The Magic were blowing me out the second time around, I was already down by 20 at the end of the first quarter. But I kept changing up my defense, and I couldn't figure them out, until late in the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately it was too late by then. Using a Zone 1-2-2 really slowed them down though.

Of course, Hill was on the Magic still and I didn't remove him from the team so they'd be better than they really are righ tnow. Still, I'm surprised they're rated so highly on defense considering the Magic are not a good defensive team.

Yeah, I am starting a season with the Cavs. I played 2 full practice games before I started the season, one against the Lakers and one against the Wizards. The games against the Lakers, I lost by 11 cuz LA shot 53% from the field. In the game against the Wizards, I won by 9 because they shot 39%. I shot about 47% in both games (moved 2-point shooting slider down 1 notch for user and cpu, moved hook shot slider down 1 notch for both, dunk slider down 2 notches (too many dunks) for both, steal slider down 1 notch for both and player speed down 2 notches for both). They were both great, highly competitive games, but it just shows that if you are playing with a sub-par team (Cavs), you are going to struggle against the top-tier teams and be competitive against the lower-tier teams.

Klocker, just keep playing. If you take the time, and learn the plays that your team uses, and run plays unless you have a fast break, then you will be successful. Remember that in the NBA if someone goes strong for the dunk, normally, you aren't going to deter him from dunking (ala Live), but you usually foul him, so don't feel bad about that. This game takes a lot of strategy, and figuring out what to do, to exploit weeknesses.

I am the Cavaliers, and started out 0-4, but have since raised my record and gained a few wins to come to 3-5. It's all about playing to your teams strengths, and exploiting the opposing teams weakness.

There aren't really any sweet spots so to speak, other than playing some good fundamental basketball and getting the ball to your players in situations that they can do something with the ball. And as far as the 2 foot jumpers are concerned, I have found that if you tap turbo, towards the basket, and shoot at the same time, then you will do the floater animation, and it is more successful a lot of the times.

Hope this helps a little. I would hate to see you give up so easily. You will develop your own style, and learn how to win.

Re: I\'m getting frustrated (I suck)

Having a good shooting team does wonders. On some nights, I can light up the other team and shoot like near 60%. In fact, I have beaten the Spurs twice so far in the season with the Mavs, one by blowout. But I have lost two straight because my defense sucks so much.

Here is an example: I am playing the Hornets and my defensive priority is Baron Davis. I'm gonna make him get his teammates into the action and force them to hit jumpers. Boy, was that a mistake. Jamal Mashburn lit me up bigtime on screens for jumpers and also got deep into the paint, my interior d is pathetic. They scored 33 on me in the second quarter alone. How did I do? Lets just say when your a jump-shooting team and that jumpshot isn't going down even with open looks....your in trouble. So I started stuffing it down to Antwan/Antoine to get easy baskets. Walker is really rated high on strength, at 90, so he can back down almost anyone at his position. I chipped away until I hit the 4th quarter down by 12. I was previously down by 20+. Needless to say, I never got closer then 8 because I couldn't hit open jumpers and I couldn't hit open 3's. Not to mention I couldn't stop or rebound.

While this makes me frustrated, I am delighted at the same time because if the Mavs have a bad shooting night, it will be awfully tough for them to win. This game, to me, is so realistic, I can overlook getting beat by "lesser" opponents.

Sorry it was so longwinded, and hopefully Klocker, you can get the hang of the game. Plays do wonders as ferrel mentioned.

And for those who think rookie is easy, my little brother gets creamed everytime he plays haha.

My biggest problem so far is that I am shooting between 30%-38%. I can hold the CPU to 44%-50% by playing defense off the ball.

The problem is I seem to be off on my shots for some reasons. I go to practice and shoot good shots, but they aren't falling during the game and it gets frustrating.

Now don't get me wrong, I still love ID, I'm just frustrated with my shooting. I keep using different teams playing in exhibition, so it may be a case of using one team and learning their plays better.
