I was thinking about this and since EA is failing with their basketball series what other gaming company could make a decent basketball game if they tried?

I had the 989 Sports titles I doubt they or any other company will put out an basketball game its either Live or 2k for the most part and 2k is so far ahead right now its not funny

989/Sony (or whoever developed it) never had a chance since they didn't allow any edits. No matter how good their game was/could have been, it would never get to the next level. As if they made sure it wouldn't on purpose.
If Konami kept developing NBA SF after 2005, they might have had a good current-gen game. They were so in the right direction with 2005.

Well I knew about those games, and NBA shootout was just a horrible game! It had a decent career mode for the old generation though! The create a dunk mode mode didn't work right!Comment

KONAMI with the new Fox Engine could rival 2k's basketball game.They can even create a good basketball game with the old engine.KONAMI's PYS baseball game is imo the best sports videogame out there.Comment

Konami....anyone who play NBA starting 5 2005 could see they were heading in the right direction. Plus with what they do with soccer(PES series) and Baseball(PYS Series) I think they showed that they can make great games.It's 'Sconnie not wiscy!!!!!Comment

Or Microsoft could reinvent the NBA Inside Drive Series as an XBOX exclusive again. Those were some solid games.

Agree. Konami has this unique approach towards developing games that always make them special. Thing is that nowadays, if it were just Konami, I'm positive it would have the Asian trademark with either the Japanese or Chinese leagues.
Adding Sony to the mix could be meaningful to bring in all the NBA stuff including the licenses. Would love to see how that could work.Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.Comment

Isn't it amazing to see signature shots, dunks and celebrations in a PS2 game from 2004-05?

Indeed! I was impressed to see Jason Kid's kiss routine on free-throws.
Glad to see many details like the presentation, the arena player introductions and other things like the bench and even the crowd swinging balloons on a free-throw!Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.Comment

If sony put the same effort and dedication as they do with the show, then we're looking at a NBA game that can possibly be better than 2k's. I would like for someone else to come out with a NBA game other than 2k and EA.
