Hopefully it's for good reasons. If they plan to make ID2006 with similar gameplay but with better graphics, sound and presentation then that's good. But I certainly hope they don't look down the path of changing the gameplay so there are more dunks to please the everyday gamer because if that's the case then we might as well choose Live or ESPN.

It is dissapointing that there is no ID2005 though. Because I'd be happy with a slight improvement in graphics and crowd noises along with updated rosters. A few more animations and a better atmosphere (like better player intros) would make it a near perfect NBA experience.

I just pray that they get rid of the everything has to be funny approach to the commentary. At first it actually is funny, but after a while it gets very repetitive.Other than that and issues that you guys have already stated this game will kick [censored].

I think it depends on people's taste. NBA Live has good commentary but gets repetitive pretty quickly. One thing I do get sick of with ID's commentary is the amount of times they say that you should have passed because of the double team, even if there was only one player near you. Also every lay-up that is missed they go on about how those have to be scored, even if you're in heavy traffic.

The playbook in ID2004 is amazing, the player AI is great... but the coaching AI is terrible. And what's with the other team running down the clock while trailing by 4 with 20 seconds left? Doesn't make sense. Oh yeah, control is sluggish, very very sluggish. Pump fakes looks terrible, but whatever, that's just graphics.... but the sluggish controls hurts this game a lot. Its like a lag or something. Lack of updatable rosters don't help. If ESPN has ID2004's playbook and player AI, I'll be in heaven (oh yeah, plus internet enabled live roster updates).

You make some good points. The control-response is definitly poor. It seems like everything is pressure sensitive to the point that it takes too long to execute a jump, block, pass, shot, change of direction etc. Lag is a good way to describe it. Id actually makes you time a lot of moves a half second earlier then the standard that has been set in other games. The AI is great but the Common Sense of the cpu is non-existent. Substitutions and other strategy is often brainless.
If Espn would have an option to play in a truely sim mode it would make ID unneccessary. But there are too many Arcade aspects. Even Id , which is the most sim game available is in many ways too arcade for my tastes, so i am probably in the minority.
