Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Hey all,
Posted a while ago about my Legacy with Norfolk State. Here's a quick update.
Well it's been a fairly successful first season at Norfolk St for first year head coach Drew Barker. The team is currently 17-9 with one game to play in the regular season against NC A&T. Bracketology currently has the Spartans with a 16 seed facing D Rose and Memphis in Round 1.
On the floor the Spartans are lead by senior SG Tony Murphy who has exploded for 36 and 40 points in two of the last three games. He has been on fire from three in the wins. In the loss, however, he was ice cold from distance and the team fell apart without his contribution. Live by the three, die by the three.
The only other reliable scoring option is our big C Joseph Dorsett-Jeffries. The sophomore stands 6'11", weighs in at a whopping 300 lbs and is a beast down low. When he is on his game and T Murph is raining 3's this team is nearly unbeatable in conference. However, when they are on the bench or having bad games it can get ugly for the Spartans in a hurry.
With a projected #1 seed in the MEAC Tournament the Spartans should be able to go dancing but that will fall on the shoulders of T Murph and JDJ.
Stay tuned!Comment

New Kansas Open Legacy
I restarted my open legacy after picking up a used copy of NBA 2k8. I wanted to start an association in NBA 2k8 and keep track of draft classes so I can have legit draft classes year after year. Using the latest rosters, I simmed about 4 seasons (playing the NCAA tourney games) just to get most of the real players out of the NCAA (the good players are archived in the draft classes I saved).
Simming 4 seasons also allowed me to get more experienced with recruiting, which I truly believe I've mastered, at least for my particular school, if you look at what I've been able to do recruiting-wise. You guys can email me if you want tips on recruiting. In the last year I simmed, I had to let 3 HSAA with KU top on their list, go due to lack of scholarships.
At any rate, this season, season 5, is where I have finally begun to play my new open legacy with players that I've recruited and signed myself. This will also be a parallel experience with an association in NBA 2k8 in order to see what players actually turned out to be good, bad, or great in the pros. Here we are so far.

First thing you'll notice looking at my roster is I got a ton of good SG. I'm not quite sure why my recruiting ended up the way it did, but good SG were always wiling to commit to my school year after year. And when a HSAA is knocking on your door, you let him in even if you are already stacked at the position.I was surprised to nail another #1 recruit after just signing one 2 years prior. He was a 6'5" PG named Julian Thomas, who was Freshman of the Year as a freshman, but during his So. year he led us into the deepest tournament run of the legacy so far by getting us to the Final Four game against Boston College, which we unfortunately lost in a close, down to the wire bout. Maryland won the title that year (last year) and Julian Thomas left for the pros after that. Anyways, I'm hoping my new #1 recruit will lead us to a championship this year. I get the idea that some of those good players on my team that aren't Sr won't be there next season...
Aside from that, look at my bench. It's so deep! It kind of reminds me of my first legacy ever playing as UNC. I had to play a game against Duke and I paused the game one time to look at the box scores. I found that Duke had 5 bench players in the 80s. No wonder I was losing by 25. lol
Current Record for 2011-2012 Season: (7-0) Rank #4
vs. Prairie View W 85-43 (Season Opener Blowout. No one had great stats, but everyone did decent. Points were distributed across the board. Still figuring out how to play ball with one another, but a blowout did wonders for team chemistry.)
at Creighton W 70-55 (Bradford 28pts, 8 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl: Opener for the Paradise Jam tourney. Win wasn't easy, but our shots were falling.)
at Marquette W 73-67 (Bradford 21pts, 7 reb: Rd 2 of the tourney. Marquette has an HSAA Mr.BB Senior named Sterling Byrd that was tearing it up from behind the arc. The guy had 5 3-pointers, but we got the win.)
vs Butler W 76-55 (Clarke 19pts 14reb: Final Rd. of the tourney. Recently discovered reserved B-I-G (yes, literally) on my roster explodes, but I think most of it had to do with his height. :P)
vs ND State W 78-22 (Clarke 14 Pts, 15 Reb: lol at the score The game where I discovered beforehand the 7'2" bench warmer center I recurited for size was 7'6" now and put him in the game for the second time. ND State had an extremely bad shooting night, and it didn't help that Clarke prevented them from getting second chance buckets as he totally locked down the paint on the defensive end.)
vs #14 Washington State W 63-62 (Bradford 36pts 7reb: I thought the only reason you'd have Washington state as a 14 seed in the country would be because they struck gold with recruiting. I discovered that though that wasn't quite the case as they did nail a 5* recruit who tore it up with 20pts, it was their heart that made them so tough to beat. They had the last shot of the game with a makeable contested 3-point shot that didn't fall their way. Bradford was on fire. The funnest game of the season so far.)
vs Southern W 57-55 (Bradford 26pts 4reb 5stl 3ast: Man, this was the toughest game I've had thus far, yet it was the most realistic basketball game I've had so far in this legacy. Shots weren't falling for us (beside Bradford, of course) and Southern was hot most of the game. A late game steal and bucket got us the victory. What made it more realistic for me was players taking time to set up their offense instead of chugging up fast break 3-point shots like I've seen in some games. I really started feeling confident given the blowout we had against ND State, but we are having a lot of close games lately against non-power conference teams. Contrary to that, we are beating good teams like Butler and Marquette by decent margins. That's something to be a little worried about, at least as far as a possible upset is concerned.)

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
I'm in year eight of a closed dynasty, and I'm in my 3rd year with SIU. We've followed the momentum from last years sweet 16 run into the first few games, running a record of 5-2 with a few key wins, including a big win over #7 Florida in Gainesville. We just lost a heartbreaker to a hot Dayton team 88-84, but hopefully we can bounce back against #10 Ok St. this upcoming week.
The fun part about this game is when you really get a feel for your team. This team isn't as fun as last years because our run was a but out of nowhere, but in the same way I think this is a better team. We go into the year as conference favorites. I'm returning my freshman all american center Griffin, and my SG Bruce and SF Gates have been great support options. My big weakness is at the PG spot. My starter is a freshman, and his backup isn't a true PG. Because of this we struggle to get into our offense when the bench comes in.
All in all, I'm looking forward to a good season in the MVC. I've never been ranked in the top 25 in my 8 seasons, but I think this is the year we finally break in. We'll see what happens.KaBoom

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Dang, I just realized this thread is for Closed Legacy. haha Oh well, I'll still post my progress unless someone comes along and complains about it.
Part 1
Current Record for 2011-2012 Season: (12-0) Rank #4
at Alabama (9-4) W 66-60 (Bradford 23pts, 12reb: Close game. Many lead changes. Came down to final two minutes of the game where we hit a much needed three point shot that forced them to foul us. We made our freethrows and got the win. First double-double for Bradford.)
at Gambling (3-10) W 76-51 (Bradford 18pts, 10reb: Easy game, easy win. We simply outshooted this team and it shows in the stats: the highest scorer on Gambling's team was their starting senior SG Tyler Brittian, who scored 11 points on 4-13 shooting. He was the only player on their team to score double digits.)
vs Jackson St. (1-11) W 76-44 (Clarke 17reb: Major blowout. Many players contributed with Bradford scoring 13, McLemore scoring 14, Shazier with 10 and Reid with 11, so four players scoring in double digits. Most importantly was a career high 17 rebounds from the tallest Big in the country: Marko Clarke. Our starting C, Dennis, got injured early on in the 1st half, and Clarke played the rest of the game afterward. He kept Jackson St. from getting second chance points, which helped us reach blowout territory early in the game since our shots were falling.)
vs Howard (1-10) W 77-51 (Bradford 17pts 9reb, 4ast: Probably our worst shooting night from behind the arc with 2-17 3PT, but we still managed a blow out due to second chance points and the fact Howard had a hard time scoring against us. I know in this game, you can still use injured players seemingly without any penalties to their stats when their injured, but I choose to sit them out until they recover. So I placed our starting C, Dennis, on the reserved list and put our 7 sixer in the lineup. He had an decent performance (11pts, 8reb), but it's his first time playing as a starter, so I'll give him some time.)
vs Florida (7-7) W 82-55 (Shazier 18 Pts, 6ast, 3stl: Florida totally fell off during my 4-simulation year period in my legacy; they're not even ranked. They even have a freshman PG who is an 89 overall, but is on the bench because he's only shooting a meager 13% (18/129) for FG and 7% (5/64) for 3P for the season so far, which is totally laughable for a HSAA Mr.BB caliber player, almost impossible in real life if you ask me. Can you say college bust? This team was so easy to beat I almost felt sorry for them because they were missing layups as well as freethrows.)

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
well, what I feared has happened. I was terminated from URI. I finished my last season at URI with an overall record of 13-20, 8-8 in conf play(my best showing, as headcoach of URI). I completed 5 seasons all under .500, no NCAA tourney bids.
I was offerd a job from Central Arkansas and accepted the 4 year term.
However, I wont start another seaosn till maybe July or August as its time to put CH2k8 away for the spring and part of summer. Its time to start focusing on my MLB the Show and MLB2k virtual seasons.Comment

Just started a new Career a week ago with the Southern University Jaguars. I'm using raidersfan's 2012 roster and m's sliders with some minor tweaks. I'm going to be doing write-ups as the season progresses. Check out my dynasty write-ups and let me know what you think.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
So after almost getting fired at Elon in my lastest coaching legacy, I finally made it to 2023, and took the UNC job, they haven't been to the tournament since the year after Roy Williams retired, I was debating writing about rebuilding UNC, but got anxious and already went through the first season (cut like half of the team), now with the #3 recruiting class coming in (5* PG, 5* SG, 4*SF, 3* C) we're looking to make some noise, I was able to sneak into the tournament my first year, but not by much, I was probably the last team in. Coaching Career was as follows
07-08 Elon 6-24 - No Tournament
08-09 Elon 16-15 - No Tournament
09-10 Elon 12-20 - No Tournament
10-11 Elon 20-9 - NCAA 2nd Round
11-12 Elon 26-4 - NCAA 2nd Round
12-13 Elon 30-1 - NCAA Sweet Sixteen
13-14 FAU 20-12 - NIT 3rd Round
14-15 FAU 24-8 - NCAA 1st Round
15-16 FAU 28-4 - NCAA 2nd Round
16-17 FAU 29-5 - NCAA Elite Eight
17-18 FAU 30-2 - NCAA Final Four
18-19 FAU 31-2 - NCAA Final Four
19-20 FAU 29-4 - NCAA Final Four
20-21 FAU 31-2 - NCAA Sweet Sixteen
21-22 UNC 20-12 - NCAA 1st Round
22-23 UNC ?-?Support Local Sports

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
I started up a legacy with North Dakota State. I only recruited and simulated all the games. NCAA Tournament games were the only ones that I would play. After about 30 years I had won the conference 15 or 16 times and had turned them into a Summit League power, even getting an at large bid a couple times. However, no matter what my record was or how well my team was rated I could never get a good seed. My best was a nine seed while I usually got a 12. I kept saying I would continue to coach there until I could get them to the Sweet Sixteen, but after 18 tournament appearances and failing to make it once, I got frustrated and left.
From there it was to Evanston. Northwestern had been trying to get me for at least 15 years and they were on the list once again. They were awful. The first season I went .500 in non-conference and had about 3 wins total in the Big Ten. That first offseason was when I learned the perks of being in a power conference. The recruting budget was HUGE and despite the fact that I was flat out awful there were still some four stars interested. I had no chance at any five stars but I decided I'd take a different route: If you can't get the top skill, might as well try to get the top size. I started looking for the tallest recruits I could find at each position. The first couple years were a mix of three and four stars but I was gaining more ground with the four stars.
My fifth year I was beginning to turn it around. I had a decent non-con record but went middle of the road in the Big Ten, having to play Thursday of the conference tournament. Remember I'm still simulating at this point: I go on a four day, four game win streak including a win over #2 Michigan State in the championship to give Northwestern their first tournament bid in school history. That's right, in 2043 the Wildcats made their first tournament, the drought only lasted 104 years.
Selection Sunday comes and I'm in the tournament as a 12 seed. I play the first game and I realize how this team can go on a hot streak. My center and point guard were my shortest players. My starting lineup went: 6'8, 6'9, 6'9, 6'11, 6'8. Needless to say I dominated on the boards. The 6'11 forward reminded me of Dirk. He could do it all. I didn't find out he could do it all until the Elite Eight. Before that I was using him as a beast in the post but it turned out he could hit the three like the best shooting guards in the nation. The hot streak continued and little 12 seed Northwestern went on to win their first national title in their first tournament appearance. The 6'11 kid ended up being Player of the Year and scored 45 for me in the national championship.
The next few years I was raking in recruits but couldn't put together a deep tourney run. I was the 1 and 2 seeds and got bounced in the Sweet Sixteen both times. In my 40th year the game told me it would be my last season. I got the 3 seed and made it to the Elite Eight when the season came to an end.
I finished with 800+ wins, who knows how many Summit Coach of the Year titles, 1 NC, 1 FF, 2 E8 and 5 S16, about 25 tournament appearances. I plan on doing it again sometime, but it can get frustrating in the beginning. I think next time I'll start at a program in a more populous state so I can get local kids easier.Comment
