Im about to start a different kind of legacy for both NCAA BB and FB. Ill be letting the CPU control everything and just act as a reporter, but with Wisconsin, UNC, Florida, Notre Dame, and NIU. Hopefully it goes well!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Well Im into my 5th season, my 84 rated SG (Duke transfer) went pro. My 3* SF I was playing as my SG broke his foot in our first game leaving us with NO 2 guard depth AT ALL! My 2nd unit is a back up PG and 4 C/PF's. We manage but its not ideal. We'll see how it goes though..seems like my affinity for the 7fters has crowded my roster a bit HAHA..Rather than complain about life, take responsibility and do something about it..Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Just beat WKU to break the tie for conference leader. 5-0 Start to conf. play. 11-1 OVR. Was a good one they had us down by ~11 pts at the half. Still trailed by 9 at 4 min mark. Long story short, 77-77 with 40 sec. to go, I run my money play, SF comes off a brush screen, cross court pass for 3. GAME!!Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
You'll want to throw out schollies to players you want as the CPU won't do it like they do in NCAA football and College Hoops 2K4.... Or at least...every time I let the computer do everything in recruiting (other than scout), I always get an awful recruiting class, and that was even in open legacy with teams like Duke and Ohio State and such.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
I'm in my 8th year overall, 4th year with the Buffalo Bulls. I made some settings changes....well, okay, not really. I have everything at default, and the difficulty at the lowest for the sake of the AI running in a more basic manner rather than always seeming to go for the aggressive three and draining it all the time. It just didn't feel real. I've watched some really fun games with default "sim" settings and difficulty on walk-on. First game of the year, we torched a team with 119 points running and uptempo Princeton style, but we didn't get over 100 for the rest of the year...
Anyhow, I've had my best coaching year as I've recorded my first 20+ win season (watched 8 games and summed the rest. Finally a good season in conference). We got to either the 2nd round or lost in the championship game of the conference tournament, but our regular season play was good enough for a 7 seed.
First round, we beat 10 seeded Florida. Second round, we beat 2 seeded Ohio State. Sweet Sixteen, we beat Colorado, but I forget their seed (11th?). Elite Eight, it was the battle for New York as Buffalo battled Syracuse. Well, we won that game too and advanced to the Final Four. A battle between to Purdue-related coaches, me and the Kevin Stallings-led Vanderbilt Commodores. We beat them, and are on our way to the national championship against Texas Tech. I'm expecting a power conference job during the off-season, but I recruited my first 4* player here at Buffalo. Not sure where I'll go from here....but I'll figure it out after the NC game.
Also, has anyone else had any ridiculous injuries? One of my guys has a broken patella (kneecap for any who don't know, I didn't at first), and he's out for 250+ days..... Poor kid, lol....he's only a junior....Last edited by dxdude2004; 02-07-2013, 06:34 AM.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
And the Buffalo Bulls do the unthinkable! They are the 2015 national champions! I didn't win overall COTY, but I did win conference COTY. Dean Coulibaly, my 7'3" center, won conference FOTY, junior guard Ajay Wadood made first-team all-conference. So, we lose 3 players to graduation, and we have a good chunk coming back from the championship team, not to mention a 4* guy and some 3's coming in......
Nobody from a REAL power conference (Gonzaga in the WCC is kind of powerful...but....not a true power conference, lol), so....the Buffalo Bulls will look to repeat!!!
So, in recruiting, I brought in two 4* recruits. Our to top players are a senior/sophomore combo in Wadood and Caulibaly. Our two top freshmen are Herman Carbaugh and P.L. Becker. I'll run through midnight madness and then maybe watch the pre-season reports and report for there.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
hey guys, man I love this game so much and just started playing it again last night! still in my first season with Bethune-Cookman. Wanted to ask before I get too far into it, whats the difference again between open and closed dynasty?
and what are some good slider settings that allow for a fun & challenging experience playing myself but also for simming/coaching since I wanna move a bit faster than playing every game would allow?!
and is there any fast convenient way of getting any newer rosters, since my current roster is with R.Hubbard and T.Hansbrough being seniors, so a few yrs old?!lol

As for sliders, I'm strictly a CPU/CPU guy. I'm currently experimenting with watching games at default "sim" settings, walk-on difficulty, 16 minute halves, and free throw difficulty is on 100. What you'll probably want to do is to look in the other forum areas on here titled "Sliders" and "Rosters" to find what suits you.
Good luck.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
In open legacy, you can choose wherever you'd like to start coaching (in a power conference, mid-major, small conference) and go fom there. Like in open legacy, I could choose to start at Duke if I wanted to just win championships and guarantee great recruiting. In closed legacy, you get a small selection of places to choose from such as Bethune-Cookman, and other small schools, and you just try and build your coach up. I guess the difference is also the approach you take. You could build your coach in Open legacy as well. In closed legacy, you can't watch tournament games except for those tournament games that your team is in. In open legacy, you can watch whatever you want as far as I know.

thx man! so I guess I had started a closed dynasty back when I originally started this one, which is what I prefer! I like to earn the right to coach the big dogs or built my own powerhouse!
i will try to see what sliders/settings might be good, but prolly play a few more games in the meantime to get a feel for what I have so far.https://www.facebook.com/GermoneyUSA

Yep, I started with IPFW, and moved my way up to Buffalo where I won a national championship 2 years ago, and this past season we almost won the NIT (had single digit losses, but still didn't make tourney...not even bubble watch). This year, we're ready to go back to the NCAA tournemant!
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention. A guy from the Michigan Wolverines transferred to us. He's an 85 overall.Last edited by dxdude2004; 02-07-2013, 07:39 PM.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Sorry for the long story guys... read entire thing for full affect or go down to the bottom where I sum it up.
So I downloaded some one's roster a year ago about and last month decided to pick the worst rated team possible and build them up into National Champions. Needless to say this would be very tough. So I picked the Winston-Salem State Rams.
So I look at the roster and of course the best player is around a 58 with a 49 starting about... So I look through all their stats and try to maximize the talent the best I can. I realized that the more up tempo the better and that in the half court more often than not I would go into the post.
Anyways I play around 10 games that first year and we end up going 5-23 (1-16) (approx. I don't have the numbers right in front of me but I'm sure of the wins). We miss the conference tournement because I assumed all teams got in, in the MEAC or whatever conference it was so made a mental note to at least be in second to last place to at least get in.
In my first recruiting class I slam the 4 and 5* recruits that are freshman in hope by the time their senior year comes around they will at least sort of be interested in my school because by then my goal was to make it to the second round. I figured if I could get in the tournament by year 3 I would deserve a coach of the year nomination at least so by year 5 second round seemed reasonable.
Anyways, I miss almost all of my 3* recruits I aimed way too high for and end up with two 2* guys and one 1* JUCO... not what I wanted but it's alright.... Almost all of my team seemed to be sophomores so it's not like they had to start or anything. And one of the 2*'s end up being higher rated than I thought.
Second year goes a little better because one of my guys had a good off-season because he was around 65 by the time the season was rolling around so the average starter was around 58 which was a lot better than 52 it seemed like the year before. I play around 10 games again this year and we end up going to the conference tournament and losing a really really close game in the play-in round. So we finish the year 9-20 (5-12) which is still really flippin good in my book for what I started out with.
Recruiting goes A LOT better this year and I haul in 3 3*'s with one being a JUCO and looking at the rankings I had a higher recruiting class than a lot of better schools, and I understand sometimes they dont have scholarships to even offer, but either way it made me feel like I was really getting somewhere with the program.
The starting lineup for the 09-10 season had a 72 (FR), 70 (SO), 67 (FR), 66(SR), and 59(SR) OVR. This, I felt like could be our year finally.
Once again I play more or less 10 games on the year and as I simulate a lot of their games they are winning some! I am shocked... not to mention they almost beat #5 Duke! It was 85-81 final and I simulated it!
We end up reeling off 11 conference wins (!!!!!) but get a 7 seed in the conference tourney because of the log jam at 11-7 (We lost to all the better teams) but we are fine with it.
We wax Florida A&M 77-52 in the first round. Then beat Morgan State by 20 also because they were chucking 3's left and right all game. And then sneak by Delaware St. 65-63 to go to the conference championship! We meet up with Hampton who beat us earlier in the year by quite a bit and at this point, I'm stoked. This team blew so bad when I took over and here we were one win away from our goal.
The game was back and forth and it was just one team going on 7-0 runs to the other going on 9-2 runs. It actually felt like momentum was in play. So we end up seemingly pulling away with 50 seconds to go when I drain a 3 to put me us up 6. They then go on to miss their next shot and foul my best free shooter. And with a perfect release he misses it. (Wtf!?) and then go down and drain a 3 right in my guys eye. No big deal I think and give it to the best free throw shooter again but for some reason they guy that's guarding him doesn't foul me and I was hiding in the corner and before I get the 10 second call I pass up to another teammate and he gets fouled. He makes the first and misses the second. They call timeout and there's about 13 seconds to go in the game. They nonchalantly bring the ball up the floor and waiting for the 3 I fan my team out. They take it inside for the lay up with about .6 seconds to go. Inbound the ball and I win, right? I swear to God I passed it to my PG that was standing right in front of me by my in-bounder like chucks it WAY over his head and I look on in shock as the ball dribbles all the way across the entire length of the court and it goes out of bounds. Their ball, right where I was. I gather my own compsure because I can't believe what I just saw and think to myself worst case we go to OT. I'll protect the 3 and would almost rather give a makeable shot for 2 then give up the 3. So I see like 2 players of theirs screening for one guy coming around for a 3 and I send one of my guys flying over there to stop it and almost unfairly (not really) the in-bounder passes to a guy that is right by him in the corner... for 3... my defender was too slow.... he drains it. Game over. Tournament gone. Biggest collapse of all time. Wow. I stand their shocked. I look at my players after the shot and they are just saying good game to the other team... wait what? Shouldn't they be dancing and celebrating? What??!? WHATTTT. They didn't get it off!!! Final score was 70-68 I win! I had a heartattack! But we won! I was so stoked. So so so stoked. I was wondering why Vern wasn't acting more excited!! lol.
We were finally going to the NCAA Tournament. I was so happy. I didn't care what seed or who we played but we were in. We were there. (Not to make this sound TOO dramatic but they were literally the worst team in the game.)
This program had never been the Big Dance before and actually in real life WSS went back down to Division II due to poor funding and it being too unfair for the athletics. lol. So essentially took over literally a division II team.
So anyways, I watch the entire Selection Sunday soaking up the moment when we get picked (I'm sure a lot of you first timers did too!) and we get matched up with #1 Memphis as the #16 seed. I knew we had little chance but we literally had nothing to lose. The program had never been better here.
We go into the game obviously extreme underdogs. The first 6 minutes were competitive (I play 12 min. All-Conference) and the game was at one point 15-19, but my sharpshooter went 1-14 from the field (with a couple open looks) and my low post presence went 3-11 with about 6 of those blocked. Also my PG and SG were combined 1-7. I think we ended up shooting about 26% (Ha!) But I played all 5 of my seniors the last 5 minutes that were there from the beginning... quite the moment. haha. And yes I still realize it's a video game but it's always fun pretending! To me this is all like a good book... that you get to write. We get manhandled and lose 80-40 but I honestly could care less. We made it.
I'm excited to get the recruiting up and going again to make it back and possibly get to the 2nd round! I still have those 4 and 5* guys I have been annoying all those years and next year is when it will show if they want to be a Ram!
I simulate the rest of the tourney and Texas wins it. Florida State did my first year and Mississippi State did the next year if any of you are wondering. So I simulate to the end of the season and...
What. The. ****.
Really?
Really??
Really!?!
THEY FIRED ME.
I'm shocked again. More shocked than when I got the phantom game winner made on me.
We ended up going 15-21 (11-7) and I get fired?
Year 1: 5-23 (1-16)
Year 2: 9-20 (5-12)
Year 3: 15-21 (11-7) 1st round
Is that not success? For WSS? The Rams? The now Division II RAMS? The tournament? First in school HISTORY? With obvious progress made all 3 years!!
This is not fair.
This is bogus.
This is stupid.
I look at all my graduating seniors and get sent off to the coaching carousel.
I see the options open and hope some one offers me... because if they do I know who I'm scheduling for the first game next year...
But I go through it all and no one... not a single one... wanted to hire me.
It then tells me it's going to redirect me to the main menu and learn from what happened here and use it for next time I start a legacy.
Really?
I'm not too sure what I learned actually.
Not to try and start at the bottom? Because if you fall there is no one to catch you?
If you read this entire thing I would love to hear your opinion on this situation.
Is it common? I've read through about 50 or so pages of this thread and found nothing close to mine.
I'm so disappointed....
I honestly don't even really feel like starting another one.
What say you guys?
(Seriously if anyone read this all good job!)
tl;dr
I got fired unfairly. After taking over the worst team in all of the NCAA and making 4 and 5 win improvements each year for 3 years and making the tournament in my 3rd year for the first time ever in program history (Winston-Salem State) I got let go for NO apparent reason.Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
The Buffalo Bulls are in the NCAA Tournament once again with a #12 seed. We take on the #5 seed Louisville Cardinals. There is so much pressure on us to win a national championship again after winning it 2 years ago. Buffalo may become my permanent home with the talent we are attracting. We've so far got a 4* and a 3* committed to coming next season. There is also a 5* guy with his eye on us. Buffalo may be becoming a permanent power team here in the MAC.
