Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just grabbed this game last week. I played 2k7 for awhile, but could never get past year 3 without getting fired (without cheating...).

Started a closed legacy with St. Francis NY. My first game with 2k8 was the first game of the season. I've been getting drilled any time I play a game (using AuburnAlumnis sliders). Usually I'd get down by around 20 and sim the rest of it (sometime in the early 2nd half). I only use player lock (PG) to keep it challenging.

I like a mixture of play and sim. I've started about 75% of the games, but like I said, usually end up simming once it gets out of hand. I sim some OOC games, any some serious mis-match games.

I have 5 regular season games left in year 1, and I'm 6-18 on the year (with 2 wins in games played...and about 12 losses). It took me a while to get a hang of the controls and learn the new plays, but I'm pretty competitive now.

    Recruiting is horrible so far.

It's not cheap, you bought the game, you play it how you want to.

I do the same thing, but I also edit other teams I play as well, making their tendencies fit their best shooting attributes and editing coaching setteins according to personnel (on the front menu).

Later on when I find a mid major team to finish my career I create recruits for my style that come in around 75 OVR.

I only had two scholarships available and locked up two great prospects that should make my team VERY dangerous next season. Here's the write-up I have on them:

I've enjoyed following your dynasty for a while, you do a really good job, it is a very fun read.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I played half of my 3rd season at Tulsa, getting to 12-3, all 3 losses against ranked teams. I decided to sim the rest of the season to see what kind of jobs would be opening up. Turns out I still wasn't very high on the list, even though I made the NCAA tournament again. So I ended up moving forward with the game after the sim instead of re-loading and playing more games.

I had already signed two of the top 10 centers and had a 3 star PG at 100% when I started simming, the PG signed to complete my class. I went after the PG because his ABL 3 point stats were off the charts, he hit 50% with > 40 attempts. My scouting said his 3 point rating was a 70, but when I went into the next season it was an 86(after the season I fired one of my assistants and brought in a guy with a scouting rating of A).

I played my first game of season 4 and I am loving the team. The two centers are both better than my old center, I have a new starting SF who was redshirting last year, a converted SG who has good dribble and layup ratings, a classic slasher with a decent 3 point game for a SF. My team is 85 overall, the best team I've had in my career so far, I easily beat a good Utah team by 20+ on the road.

I may end up staying at Tulsa longer than I thought, I have 3 recruiting classes in there now and I really like the mix of players I have, could be my best year yet, and I am only losing one contributing senior.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Restarted my UConn legacy last week with 09-10 rosters. I also moved Miami and BC back into the Big East and removed DePaul and USF so now I look forward to every single conference match up. With this legacy I'm going to skip all OOC games cept for one, I really want to focus on Big East play and nothing more and don't have the time to play cupcakes that I'm going to crush anyway.

I won my first game at Seton Hall, held Hazell in check though Pope had a nice game. I won by double digits though it was a 4-6 point game through out, lead grew when The Hall sent me to the line a bunch in the last minute.

Second game was at Notre Dame, I opened with a 14-2 start and Harangody was ice cold. Dyson had a huge first half, 19 points and was unstoppable. My team relaxed like crazy in the second half though and before I knew it was a tie game with 3 minutes left. Tim Abromaitis went nuts, he finished with a career high 28 points and hit four threes. The ended up winning by eight points after some FT's iced the game for them. I was absolutely destroyed in the second half, my offense was lethargic as was my rebounding (scarily similar to real-life UConn this year). Dyson had just four in the second half. Kemba Walker was outstanding though, 24 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

Next game was at GTown, they were executing very well in the first half and their D was outstanding. They led by double digits most of the first half but I went on a small run to cut it to eight at the half. Dyson had 7 at the break, he exploded in the second half though. He started the half on 15-2 run on his own, hit 4-4 from deep and gave us our first lead of the game. We went up by 10 with less than four minutes to go but of course they came roaring back and eventually tied the game with under a minute to go but each team missed their chance at a game winner. In OT I went up by four but the Hoyas hung tough, eventually cutting it to one with :50 seconds left. Kemba got to the FT line and hit both, making it a three point game. Wright came down and missed a three with about :07 left, GTown got the rebound but went right up with to make 75-74 with a second left. I inbounded the ball and they couldn't foul me before time expired. Huge road win, 2-1 in the conference.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I also just started a UConn legacy with the 2009-2010 updated 360 rosters which I edited a bit so players were much better, and the big schools wouldn't get upset quite as easy.

I started with a win at home against Harvard. I had a 8 point lead almost the entire game, held Lin in check, and eventually exploded for a 24 point win. Then I played Morgan State, and barely won. UConn's offense is tough to play with since there is really no 3 point shooter, or post game. All there is, is Dyson and Walker do iso moves trying to get to the basket. My halfcourt offense sucks, but I am pretty good on the break. Anyways, Morgan State had a chance to win with a buzzer beating 3 but it rimmed out, and I won by 2. I rebounded with a win over Buffalo though by 12 points.

Next, I took on Alabama A&M in the 2k tournament after they beat Kentucky . I won by over 30 points, but the bad news was that Kemba Walker would be out for around 6 weeks. Without a big piece to my offense, Memphis destroyed me. Probably the worst loss I've ever had in 2k8. Just brutal shooting by the CPU, and I had no offense. I lost 83-48, and Dyson scored 25 of my points.

Thats a good idea. I may want to try that. A full season is just too long, so I may just wanna focus on a big OOC game, or maybe 2, so I can focus on pounding Duke instead of those small schools.

Yup, I "sign" a home-n-home deal with one powerhouse school each year. So in my first year I had Texas at home, in my next season I'll schedule it at Texas. Year 3 I'll move on to a new powerhouse for years three and four.

Works out nice with UConn's schedule too since there's one OOC game slotted into the middle of the Big East slate (mid January).

Haha yeah I wanted to copy UConn's real schedule as much as possible, so I put in Duke and Texas. Technically Duke was a tournament game so I guess that won't be a 2 year deal. I will have to travel to Texas next year, as I did put them in this year in the middle of my Big East schedule. UConn finishes their Michigan home-n-home deal this year, so after this year I'll probably choose another Big 10 school to do that with. I always get bored with playing all the small schools, but it's a hassle to your team if you schedule all powerhouses, as I don't think this team is that good. So your idea really works so that I can skip playing the small school games, play all big games, without their being too much big games that my team gets 15 losses a year.

Finished year 1 with St. Franchis (NY) at 7-22. Horrible recruiting season, only signed a JC FR 2 star center (7'1 atleast). Of course he comes with D potential (scout said C).

Just finished up with the ABL, starting season 2. The new class looks more promising (better interest) and I have 9 scholarships to fill. I just hope I can break double digits in wins....and not get fired.

In the middle of season 2 at Dartmouth. Went 19-9 (8-6 IVY) (no tourney, no NIT) in my first season (all hoopcast sim), only had 2 scholarships to give signed one 3-star JC SF.

13-1 right now just before IVY play begins, have 6 scholarships to give out, already secured a LOI from a 3 star JC PG, making progress on several other decent 3 star recruits.

Job security is maxed out and I am keeping a close eye on all mid-major openings (including those in my ideal conference the WCC). Looking to bail if a decent offer comes along (will need some talent already there to work with) because next season will definitely be a rebuilding one if I stay at Dartmouth.

It is tough to get a halfway decent offer only 2 years in unless you have an NCAA tournament bid. I started at Liberty, had two bids and got offered the Southern Illinois job which I thought was a really good offer only two years in. Without the NCAA bids though, it will be tough.

Hopefully you can make the tourny in your second year and something better comes along, good luck!

So let's say things in the Ivy don't work out this season (Harvard won it last year at 11-3 and returned most of the key contributors from that team, I split with them) if I put up a decent record (20 + wins) do I stand a chance of getting an offer from a mid-major school?

I would guess that you wouldn't get a mid-major offer, but possibly an offer from another small conference. A lot will depend on how you are rated as a coach.
