Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I went 25-5 in my first season with North Carolina A&T. Had the perfect combo for me to start out. A real solid post player, a quick guard who can hit the 3, and a slashing small forward. Went to the tourny after winning the conference championship and ended up getting beat by 2 in the first round - my buzzer beater got blocked.

Second season I decided to play every game. (signed a 3*, two 2*, and 2 1*) Went undefeated. Only real games I had during the season was a huge upset against Duke who couldn't hit a shot, and against KSU (and I have 2 6'10" guys that just killed Beasley). Got killed in the first round by Memphis. (Irony, Duke lost in the Championship game)

Starting third season with a new team. Boise State. Starting to get some real skill, I won't have to worry about running plays every time down the court. They had already signed a 5* recruit before I took the job so I should have a real solid team, but will be playing harder teams. They went .500 the season before so I am expecting atleast 22 wins and getting to the second round in the tournament.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

is there anyway to to change a career legacy team into a different conference, but still use them?

Whenever I tried moving Elon into the ACC and play with them in career legacy, they were no longer one of the choices of schools.

I wanted to do this so the regular season games would be more fun and I would be playing the big name players that I know.

Finished 25-11 with Kentucky. Lost in the first day of the SEC tourny. Got to the sweet sixteen as a 4 seed and slammed into #1 Kansas ( Deja Vu?). I lost that game.

Recruited the #1 SF in the country along with the #2 Center. Helps a ton, they are starting already. Around 81 rated for both.

Start the next year ranked #11 and Patterson is a Pre season second team AA. Meeks is a top pro-prospect. So I'm kind of scared whats going to happen if PP and/or Meeks leave early. I signed the #9 PG he is deadly from the 3pt line which will give me some better offense next year.

Other then the bugs/glitches I'm having a great time.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

After finishing the ABL season, I finally started my regular season, with Northern Colorado. I lost 69-65 to VMI in a Pre-Season tournement game, because I couldn't contain a Michael Redd clone who dropped 27 on me. It was great because he is a SF, and in years past the CPU would never get enough looks for their top player if he was a 3 or a 4.

Its going to be a struggle throughout the whole year, because none of my PG's can score at all.

Thanks to the knowledge provided by Da-Czar, I checked out the scouting report on VMI, and they played stylistically exactly how the report said they would. I was prepared for what they did on both ends of the court, but I just could make enough shots, or stop Redd Jr.

I am currently 2-2 (MOP setting)with wins against Hartford and Maine, and losses against St. Johns and Hofstra. Each game has been tight into the final two minutes.

I plan on recruiting a "Fab 5"(PG***, SG****[foreigner], SF**, PF**, C**) with the five scholarships I have with a focus on size and skill as this team lacks both, and plan on staying until either the Temple or Syracuse jobs open up for me as those are my goals.
I'm thinking of starting one with St. Francis. My old high school coach is an assistant there (Blackwell, although I'm not sure if he still coaches there).

Right now I have a Syracuse legacy, and I'm 15-2 I think a couple games into conference play. Lost to Virginia and some other team I forgot for some reason.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Started one with St. Francis, I'm not through ABl yet, though. I'm playing all of those games... I like the scouting aspect of it. I've already found some 2-stars on my list that I like better than some of the 3-stars on my list. I like reading about the rotations everyone uses with St. Francis, I can't wait to get some reps in with them and see how I want to play.

What is everyone's startegy or plan for moving on from their first school? Do you have a particular school you are aiming for, or just taking what you can get? Any restrictions?

Since 2k6 I've just kind of gone wherever the coaching carousel takes me. In 2k6 I started with New Hampshire, enjoyed 2 years there, then moved on to Miami (OH). (Sidenote: I think a lot of people ran with UNH in 2k6. That squad was fun to play with.) I took them to one Final Four before moving on to Rutgers, who I took to two Final Fours. That landed me the Kentuckey job, which I played half a season of before accidentally deleting.

Last year I started with North Florida and saw no hope there so I got out of there as fast as I could by taking the James Madison job. I spent maybe 4 years there, getting as far as the Sweet 16 before taking the Missouri job. That is as far as I got before an Open Michigan legacy and work got in the way.

My only restrictions for this year are to try to take jobs in conferences I've never been in before. I'd like to move up to a job in the MVC, and maybe with an ultimate goal of taking a Pac-10 job.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Doing an open legacy with NDSU. Started out 0-2 with about 15 point loss at Florida and then an ugly 20+ point loss at Rutgers.

In my 3rd game, I go to Tennessee Tech and am having a game with them. A grind-it-out slugfest in the first half, and then the 2nd half it picks up. Unfortunately, I'm starting to fall behind farther and farther. It gets to the mid-teens, and then I make a push to cut it to about 5. They hit 2 straight 3s and then I think I'm in trouble. With about 2 minutes left, I start making my comback....one last push....

I get a bucket and a foul with my C Moorman...he misses the FT, but I get the rebound and another "And 1". I make that FT for a 5 point possession. However, there's about 45 seconds left, I'm down 3, and I have 7 FOULS TO GIVE!!! I start fouling...start spreading the fouls around to protect my guards (Mike Nelson got on fire down the stretch). Anyways...with about 15 seconds to play, Tech is inbounding from the side, my next foul puts them in the bonus, AND THEY THROW IT AWAY!!!

I get the ball inbounds, push up the floor, penetrate and kick to Nelson in the corner for the tying 3. SWISH!! Wait!! His foot was on the line!! Instead of being tied, I'm still down 1 with 5 seconds to play. I foul the inbound and send them to the line for a 1 & 1. He hits them both. Down 3 Again. 3 seconds left...no TOs.

Nelson won't get his butt up the floor, so I inbound to my backup PG Vaughn and he takes off (Nelson is to his side and rear). Just as I cross midcourt, I stop and pop. Horn goes off while the ball is in the air, the ball finds the hoop, and quickly rattles in.

                      OVERTIME BABY!!!

In OT, I absolutely dominate and end up winning by about 10. The momentum from the end of regulation carried over and the guys fed off it. Now I'm 1-2 and ready to take on UW-Green Bay.

When I hit that 3 at the end of regulation, I literally jumped out of my chair and yelled. That's the FIRST time I've ever done that in a videogame. I rarely do it if it happens when I'm coaching, let alone at a videogame.

                      College Hoops 2k8....IT'S FANTASTIC!!!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

A little update: finished first season as South Dakota State 10-19 which included a first round conference tourney loss to eventual champ IUPUI. They blew me out to my suprise because I beat them both times during the season. Lost my starting PF,C, backup C and third string PG who hardly played transfered on me. I got a 3* PG, 2 2* C's (one is 7"2' and the other is 7"1'), and a 2*PF so I thought with the addition of some height I would be O.K. maybe even .500 in my second season. Well I started out in a tourney against N Fla and beat them by 4 after being up 10 and loseing the lead in the second half. My prize for winning the first game was #5 Texas, they beat me by about 30 (Hey if it was the first team to score 12 pts. I would have won!). After 4 more losses I am now 1-5 in season two and wondering why we can't play like we did in the first game, maybe it's because even though you have guys that are 7 feet tall doesn't mean they can play D. I did know that some of those other 4 losses where coming though like the smoke job Kansas and W. Kentucky put on me because I think my overall rating is at 65. Well here's to hopin we can turn it around in the conference and come out at least .500 so I can keep me job!!!!!!!!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

After dipping out of SDS I spent two years at Sam Houston St. posting back to back 12-17 records. Just a complete struggle all around. I got some decent recruits but they didn't turn out as planned. In my last season at SHSU I won the first two conference tourney games and then lost in the championship by 4, I can'g begin to count how many games I've lost by 5 or less points, it's sickening.

After that 2nd season at SHSU I thought I was due to move on and try my luck at a different school yet again. I accepted a job at Western Illinois where I hope to change my career around and become a legit coach. I've only posted 2 winning seasons in my career. Both at SDS, 15-14 and 17-13. Otherwise they've all been losing seasons, and this first season at WIU is looking like it'll be a losing one as I'm sitting at 1-6 so far. It's those 2-3 point losses that are killing me.

I'm hoping to head somewhere completely different soon, Missouri State, UWGB/UWM, or Hawaii would be nice. If I make it out to Hawaii I will play every game.

My roommate is currently playing 2k5 and he's in his 20th+ season. Just spent a long time at UCLA where he dominated and since moved on to Bucknell. We're enjoying our NCAA here.

I just had the oddest thing happen...Im playing with Texas St, I play SMU and I actually lost on a shot at the buzzer after I blocked a shot, crazy ending but anyway...it made me 8-2 on the year. I goto the next week, recruit, edit some players looks and the next thing I knew, my next game got simmed and I won 257-143 and I have played with like 59 points, -113 rebounds and the got was a W but counted as a L and every time I sim past that point, my xbox freezes. I had already saved it because I was editing players and I had no idea it had happened.

So now I have no clue what to do..

I wrapped up my second season with stetson, finished 25-7, lost in the first round of the dance to IUPUI, had 5 seniors graduate and little to replace them.
I head to the offseason and discover that schools are looking at me to take over their program, after the "top" jobs are filled the first offer I get is from N.Mexico, I almost took, but luckily glanced down the list and noticed the gonzaga job was open (Few went to maryland after gary williams retired), needless to say even with my strong desire to stay in the southwest the zags were too good to pass up, now its time to see how i fair against the big boys, or at least mid-boys.(btw: the zags finished the previous season ranked fifth, i cant believe they even considered an "scrub" like me)
