Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Heading into my 14th season, I am not very sure about the season. We only have 1 player on the team who isnt a Freshman, he is a SR SF. But, we have great talent. My 5 star FR 7'3 Center is my 2nd best player. I have 4 guys over 80 3pt and 7 guys over 85 Close, so I can have a guy mixture. I have 6 guys over 86 Speed, including a 4 star FR PG with 99 speed. Since my team is loaded with Freshman, I will run a 11 man rotation to see how they all fit in scheme.I only have 1 scholarship and NO needs at any
position. I will just get a player who wants to play for us.
We have a 87 Off, 85 Def, 92 Shot, and 89 RB and we Are 87 OVR. Our best player is rated 83. Our 2 Centers who are both 7'2+ should really help us dominate the low post and add the physical presence we lacked in the playoffs.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Im 6-1 in 14th season (2nd with Texas) with 99% FR. I only played 2 games so far. 1 against #3 Arizona(L) and 5-0 unranked UCLA(W). The Arizona game was my 1st game(I think our 4th game of season) that I had played with Texas. It was a blowout at first because I wasnt sure how to play with Texas. I didnt really check ratings when I set up rotation. Most of my FRs(12 of them) are rated between 70-78. I just set them up by overalls, so when I tried to play how I wanted it didnt work out. Then I changed up subs and starters in half time and changed how I was playing, and we was able to tie up the game. But, their defense was upstoppable. Their Full-Court Pressure really hurted me. I also had a real tough time against their PGs. I always have a difficult time against
PGs. So, they were able to blow us out.
The game against UCLA was a complete opposite story. I changed my rotations up and turned off Team Unity effects. If it wasnt for my SR(who is the only non-FR on team), Our Team Unity would be under 10(at 22% right now). We pretty much had the game under control the whole game up. We played great.

      Current Lineup:
PG- 2 FRs. 1 with 99 speed and 1 with 85+ 3pt. I am starting the 99 speed, even though the PG with high 3pt is more fit for scheme. His speed really helps. I havent seen the 3pt PG yet.
SG- 3 SGs. A SR who is best player. He and other FR SG are similar with good mid-3pt shooters. 1 is RSed
SF- 2 FRs. 1 doesnt really fit my scheme, but I think he is athletic. I started him to began season. But, the current starter fits scheme more. Small, but good 3pt.
      PF- Small, but decent rebuilder.
C- 2 FRs with GREAT size. One is a all-around talent(5 star), and the other I dont know. I gave him 15 mins a game, but I havent seen him at all.

My IUPUI Jaguars are currently 25-2 and ranked #18 in the major Top 25 poll. Our RPI is 11. We have two games left in the regular season before we head into the conference tournament. One game is against UMKC who beat us earlier in the season at home. Hopefully we can pick up a win in their gym.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

The IUPUI Jaguars win the conference tournament and finish the regular season at 30-2. They receive the #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and are paired up with New Mexico State who came into the tournament with a 14-17 record. IUPUI thought they had things easy going in the first round, but what happened next shocked them.

IUPUI went into halftime with a 53-39 lead over the Aggies. The Aggies came out in the 2nd half scoring 45 points, and holding the Jaguars to 25. The shots just weren't falling for the Jaguars, and they were stunned by the Aggies 84-78.

Definitely not what we wanted to happen, but that's how things go sometimes...

Simming through the tournament, New Mexico State is unable to pull another tournament upset against the North Carolina Tar Heels losing 89-76.

Simming further through the tournament, #7 seed North Carolina, #1 seed Florida, #1 seed Kentucky, and #5 seed Kansas advance to the final four with Florida and Kentucky advancing to the championship. The Florida Gators would overcome a 51-41 halftime deficit and defeat the Wildcats 93-92 to win the National Championship.

While getting ejected out of the tournament so early was a huge loss for the Jaguars, they look to welcome in their Indiana Mr. Basketball recruit. Expect the Jaguars to make another run next year.

That was my third year of the career legacy. The first two years were spent at St. Francis (NY). The first year, I got the Terriers to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated by the Buckeyes. The second year I simulated just for the heck of it and we went 7-22. During that off-season I took the IUPUI job.

So now I enter my fourth year of the legacy, second year with the IUPUI Jaguars. We're happy to finally bring in the 3* Indiana Mr. Basketball. Unfortunetely, I don't have a lot of prospects interested in comoing to IUPUI right now. This is kind of bad for me because I have 5 scholarships to hand out, but no realy good prospects to hand them out to. I'm not sure what my in-season recruiting plan will be right now, but hopefully I think of something.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

just put the game back in, don't see taking it out anytime soon

i had to put together a new playbook as my old one (with some awesome custom plays) corrupted and was causing my game to freeze . so i created 3 new plays, not as good as the ones i made before but thats alright, i'll create more as i see fit. i'm playing with UC-Riverside, this is my second year (simmed the first for recruiting) and i recruited 5 guys. 2 point guards, a 6'6 sg (3 point specialist, scorer) a 6'6 sf (playing power forward for me) and a 6'10 center. i'm starting all 5 freshman. i am liuke 18-11 or somethin right now, one more game left in the regular season and then conference tourney, played every game this season. played 2 last night and 1 sunday night, am 2-1 in those games. got my *** WHOOPED by orlando johnson last night lol

look to be getting a 4* SF with my only scholarship offer. not sure whether i will start him or bring him off the bench for any one of 4 positions. i don't have any big wins this year, and i'll have to win my conference tournament to get into the big dance.

oh, and the crowd/atmosphere in this game is so far ahead of its time its amazing. cheering/booing/going silent, all at the right moments! the last game i played i won, and i was on the road, there were ebbs and flows throughout the game and at times i had opened up 6-8 point leads and the crowd was silent, then their team came storming back and the crowd started roaring again. i love it.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I decided to simulate this upcoming season. We finished the regular season with a 22-7 record, only good enough to get into the NIT Tournament with our first game being against Houston. We were eliminated 108-98.

Michigan State wins the NCAA Championship finishing with a 30-10 record. We were the conference champions this year, and I won conference coach of the year.

My contract gets renewed for 5 years, and I have five seniors leaving.... The seniors leaving seemed bad until I saw that we had an incoming transfer. A sophomore point guard from Oregon with a 75 overall rating. Of course I'll take him!

I'm going to simulate to next season to the point where our transfer PG can actually play.

Started off the season by losing to Oklahoma in the finals of the Paradise Jam 69-62. Then had another tough loss against a fellow top 25 team UNLV 94-77. Had a key win on the road against Georgetown, who's top 10 right now but wasn't ranked at the time.

In ACC play, started off w/ a home win against Duke. Then lost at 2 top 25 teams in FSU and NC St by double digits. Went back home and faced Miami, who was winless in the ACC. They were up by as many as 15 in the 2nd half, but a furious comeback and we won 61-60. Then we had another home game against #2 Clemson, who I've personally never beaten in my 12 seasons of coaching.

Early on we were playing great defensively and took a 2pt lead into the half. Then we steadied and stayed ahead up 3 late in regulation when they nailed a 3 to force OT. They were up by 4 in OT but Morkeliunas make a 3 to cut it to 1. Then a turnover and a breakaway layup over the defense by White and we were up 1. We got the stop on D and made our FTs to win 74-69 in OT.

We're currently 12-4, 3-2 in the ACC, and 14th in the nation.
Well, finished the season at 10-6 in the ACC which was 3rd in the conference, but lost the first game in the conference tourney to last place Miami. Got a 4 seed in the NCAAs and beat #13 Eastern Washington 80-65. Then played #12 Campbell in the 2nd round after they beat Georgetown. Was down as many as 20 early in the 1st half and 12 at half but was able to come back and win it 76-73 to get to the Sweet 16.

In the Sweet 16 faced #1 seed Boston College, who'd beaten us earlier this season on their home court. We got revenge and won 74-64 to get to the Elite 8. In the Elite 8 beat Wisconsin 69-57 to get to my 2nd Final Four in 4 years at Wake, and 4th Final Four overall in 12 years of coaching.

In the Final Four we played the worst game of the season against Syracuse who was a 4 seed. Had more turnovers than assists, shot under 30%, and got handled 71-47. Finish the season at 23-10. Syracuse beat Arizona to win the NC 75-58.

                      My overall record is 313-100 w/ 1 nat'l championship.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I put my Vermont legacy on hold for a couple weeks but picked it back up tonight. Playing in the final 4 against #1 seed Cal, it was back n forth the 1st half, with Vermont pulling away near the end 46-38. Cal came out of the break hot, and took the lead 52-50. I made a defensive adjustment from man defense to 2-3 zone that paid off.

I built up to a 73-60 lead in a much slower paced game than I usually play, with 2 minutes left. I go into clock killing mode and commit a couple lazy turnovers, forgetting about the game at hand and thinking ahead to the NC. With the score 75-68 I lost track of who was inbounding the ball and took a 5 sec violation. My ******* thought they were inbounding. Ugh.

So Cal's PG takes it in the lane and hits a runner, plus a foul, 75-70. He misses the free throw but they grab the offensive rebound, he goes up and hits it down low, plus another foul. Makes the FT and suddenly it's 75-73. Damn, let it get way too close down the stretch, need to work on my killer instinct.

45 seconds left I inbound and they don't need to foul, so I try to kill as much clock as possible, but end up with a weak shot and miss, they rebound with 14 seconds left. It suddenly occurs to me that I'm in big trouble. They throw it deep, I frantically switched from my 2-3 back to man D, and in the process left open a shooter from 3... he swishes it with 6 seconds left and I trailed by 1. Holy ****, how'd I let that happen?

Anyway, I threw the inbound to half court, passed again deep to my star PF who'd already scored 32, he made a spinning hop step but the defender didn't bite and I tried to pass to an open 3 pt shooter but it was too late, the buzzer sounded as Vermont didn't even get off a shot. Total collapse, and Cal went on to win the Championship. Ouch.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I posted earlier that I had a Campbell legacy going, but I decided to restart as an Open Legacy after reading some of the threads here. It seems that Open Legacy is preferred if you want to keep things more realistic, and I'm all about realism.

I'm using a roster of last year's players, and I chose Florida A&M because their coach has a lifetime record of 0-0 and I want my coach's record to reflect that. I'm also doing something I have never done before and using a custom training program tailored to my style of play. Normally I just let it run with Balanced training.

To that end, I have all guards and SF's working on shooting and ball handling. Bigs work on shooting and rebounding. I also mix in offensive and defensive awareness training for all positions. Everyone concentrates on speed for conditioning.

As before, I'm running an "AD Style" legacy where I manage the team and recruit, but let the CPU "coach" play the games. I'm a big fan of the old early 90's Arkansas, UNLV, and Loyola teams, so my team is running at max tempo, full court press all game, and maxed out fast break.

These guys are horrible shooters though, so I'm looking to recruit some guys that can hit 3's and run the floor. I typically run small with 3 guards and a SF at the PF position and a PF at the C position. I almost never use a true center, unless I find a freak of nature that is big and can run. I like all of my guys to be able to shoot from the outside and don't run a post offense. I created a custom playbook just for this purpose thanks to an idea I shamelessly "borrowed" from a thread here.

Anyway, I just started earlier today so I'm only a few games in now. I really want to see what difference the custom training will make compared to the default training.
Once upon a time, I had a lovely signature. Then it died. The end.

Well things are slowly looking up for my 1-8 Sacramento State Hornets. We upset #9 Marquette 2 games ago (just simmed the game because i figured we'd get blown out by 50 haha) and hung in their with a tough Northern Colorado squad to open up Big Sky play. We've finally started to overcome making big mistakes like turnovers and bad fouls and are now only making the small ones (missed free throws, open looks, etc.) Even though we are 1-8 i still think we can win at least 4-6 Big Sky games.
My goal going into the year was be in the top 6 in the Big Sky standings and play in our conference tourny (top 6 play in it.) If we play like we did against Northern Colorado who are probably the best team in the conf., we have a good chance to accomplish that. Go Hornets!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just started my new career legacy with Sacramento State. I ended up downloading an original named roster (kingrosters 08), using koshis balanced playbook for me / cpu with 10 minute halves.

Spent about 2 or 3 hours sorting out my roster, training and recruiting, but was not overly looking forward to opening my career at Kansas State (68 vs 84 overall ratings).

Well it turned out to be one of the best games I've ever played! Managed to stay with them until the last minute of the first half, when they pulled a slight gap to lead into the break 24 - 19. Second half didn't start so well, and with 4 minutes remaining I still trailed 36 - 28.

At this point I subbed all my starters back in and decided to pick up the tempo on offense, and made a run to get to 40 - 37 with 90 seconds to play. Then came the best sequence I've had in this game. I got a defensive block and went straight for the fast break layup. Then on the next KS possession, my pg who had done nothing all game finally flashed that 91 steal rating that I drooled at in preseason, and got a quick outlet pass to my charging sf for the dunk and a 41 - 40 lead, my first lead all game with less than 40 seconds on the clock. Another defensive stop, and a couple of trips to the line later, my squad were celebrating a 45 - 40 upset, and so was I!!! :-)

Was even sweeter to watch the post game highlights, and see that sure enough the play of the game was the late steal and dunk to take the lead.

                              I love this game!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Continuing my legacy with my friend in year 8 now, my first at Gonzaga after 7 at Chattanooga, it's been an up and downs season. I think I stand at 15-7 now and 4-3 in conference play. I started off rough in conference play at 1-3(maybe 0-3, not 100% sure), all 3 losses to teams I was 7+ points better than, and 2 of them were at home, but my team has bounced back. I lost at Saint Mary's 87-54 even though I was a 91 overall and they were an 84. But my last game I played was against Saint Mary's, this time at home, and I made them pay. I won 100-77. My SG's tried outdoing each other. The starter was 6-9 from 3 with 22 points. My backup was 5-8 from 3 with 21 points.

A few games ago to start my win streak of 3-4 games my PG had 18 assists and my SG had 40 points and shot 12-14 from 3. He was just lights out, but his 3 rating is in the high 80's and they constantly played a 2-3 leaving him open after some quick passes around the arch and some inside out passing. He leads the nation in 3's made, but isn't even in the top 5, I believe, in 3's attempted. It's going to suck losing him, and 3 other starters after my first year here, but I am hoping to have one good run this first year, get some good recruits and hopefully get keep the program where they are at. I don't expect to be a 90+ overall team next season, but I still want to remain the best team in the conference ratings wise and try and keep my overall above 85 every year here.
