    A high Standing Dunk rating actually creates more dunk opportunities, like a tendency rating. This has the effect of creeping FG% up artificially, so that post players are more dominant than they should be.


    One of the upsides of these sliders is that big men that should dominate actually do dominate, but otherwise it is a guard/forward driven game. In previous versions, I always struggled to get a power forward to be the go-to guy. In Version 6, I have seen every position on the floor dominate for different teams.

      It has been a while since I checked in. I am posting my current working set below.


      I am giving up on fixing personal fouls right now. Guards are unfairly punished, especially good/elite guards. The absence of illegal screens, block/charge, and over the back calls means we have to compensate with the Reaching Foul slider. Some of my former slider sets may give decent foul numbers but suffered from shot selection and "look and feel" of real college basketball. I prefer to post all of my iterations (with notes) so you guys can pick your own poison.


      If I just cannot deal with foul numbers, I can always resort to edits. I predict I would edit PF and C positions to '99' Foul ratings to start. I am not excited about that prospect.

      Edit each coach Prior to the Game:
      - Def Pressure = 90
      - Fast Break = 35+n/10 (where n is original Coach rating)
      - Crash Boards = 40+n/10
      IN GAME
      - Take control of each team, set 'Double Team' to "NEVER" for each player.

      NOTES
      - Team Shot Selection more in line with simmed games, team stats.
      - Have seen top scorers from every position except center. Set does favor hot-handed outside shooters.
      - Fatigue sliders have moved to balance lack of fouls for rotation purposes
      - My last couple of games have had a great feel to them and good moves to the basket. FGAs are trending upward, but this is expected as a result of fewer fouls. Unfortunately, it appears that bigs will again dominate rebounding numbers.
      - Offensive Rebounds were too strong, so I evened out rebounding. I want to push the Crash Board setting on pre-game Coach edits to get more players involved in rebounding, which means cutting back Fast Break settings. Work in Progress.

          Do these sliders affect "simulations" or just when you play the game yourself?

            Pretty certain these are only in-game sliders. I have never noticed any effect on simmed games. Use Sim Half Length to adjust sim stats.

                - Fast Break = 40+(n/2) (where n is original Coach rating)
                - Crash Boards = 40+(n/2)

                - Take control of each team, set 'Double Team' to "NEVER" for each player.

                    I have a couple of questions. What brought you to the adding 40 and dividing by 10? For me most of the settings would be 10. Was that the point. It's been a long time since I've played, so I don't remember if it was more or less the same. Also do we still do the 2-3 matchup? And do we not set matchups to tight anymore?

                      The equations should read "40 + (n/2)." I also put parentheses in to clarify the order of operations. The idea is for 40 to be the bottom, and move up one click (5) for every 10 points in rating. Sorry, that math was terribly wrong.


                      And, you are correct; no longer set individual matchups to 'tight' anymore. Higher rated Gs have so many steal attempts that they are always in foul trouble. The new ratings do a decent job of making it up on shooting fouls.

                          EDIT: I think I'll probably just play an open legacy and restrict my number of points used.

                          I want to take advantage of your thorough work but in a closed legacy. Which set do you think would work best without being able to edit coaches?

                            Is the only way to see the player tendency numbers on the player edit screen? I seem to remember this is the case. I know you can see the graph on each player's screen, but it's not very precise.

                            When you edit, what's your actual process for seeing which players you actually need to do something?

                            I know myself, and I don't think I can stomach the player edits. I'm just not a roster editor. I hate it. I know that every time I get to the point where it's time to edit, I'll end up procrastinating and not playing at all. Eventually that results in never coming back to that save.

                              Okay, I am definitely with you on this. I end up taking a little break in the offseason because I hate the edits. Oddly, it gives the game more life to me because it feels like a real season when I play through and a real offseason when I am done. I find myself more invested in winning when I have a chance because I know next season is still a ways off.


                              But, to your real point, to speed things up I look at the graph of tendencies and use the roster screen to cycle through the top 10 players. I am looking for shooting ranges, because I know I only need to edit certain players. For PGs, I also look at ballhandling and passing. If you edit height, look at freshmen that need adjusting (if you do this each season, only freshmen need height changes).


                              You will start to see a trend. Small schools require much more edits than power conferences. You could only edit conferences of teams on your schedule, but if you edit a team, edit the whole conference to eliminate bias. It really may not be worth it to edit every single team each season.


                              Finally, I edit every conference with a one-and-done type freshman (HSAA) before the "Season Preview" in week 1. I also edit every power conference before that Preview. If you do not watch that or care about it, then just edit as you go.


                              When I play my first game, I have edited my conference, every power conference, every conference with a special HSAA, and the conference of my first opponent at the very least. Then I may play a game, edit one conference, play another game, etc.

                                Thanks. 2 other questions that have come up as I'm getting back into the game after a few years.

                                1) The coaching setting for Offensive Tempo... is this kind of a modifier on overall tendencies? Like the probability for a specific player to shoot at any given time is a function of (player tendency) * (tendency slider) * (offensive tempo). That's vaguely how I see it, but I'm interested in your take.

                                2) Have you ever tried using custom playbooks, i.e. from the esoteric information thread?
