Re: All Div 1 Teams?
Looks like all the Div 1 teams are not in, this is from the Sportsgamer message board:
EA has never been that good about making sure every D-1 school is in the game, here's a few off the top of my head that I'm wondering about...
Northern Colorado (Big Sky)-yes
Winston-Salem (MEAC)-no
Florida Gulf Coast, Kennesaw State, North Florida, South Carolina Upstate (Atlantic Sun)-no
Presbyterian (Big South)-no
Central Arkansas (Southland)-no
Centenary, IPFW, North Dakota State, South Dakota State (Summit)-no centenary. the other are
Cal State-Bakersfield, Chicago State, Houston Baptist, Longwood, NJIT, NC Central, Savannah State, Seattle, Texas Pan Am, Utah Valley State (Independents)-they didnt' have a category for Independents.
This is why they can't really have authentic schedules, Duke played Presbyterian in there first game and they are not even in the game.
North Dakota State, South Dakota State, IPFW, Northern Colorado, North Florida, Kennessaw State, Central Arkansas and Utah Valley State all completed their reclassification period last year. They are all eligible for the NCAA tournament this year (N. Colorado was eligible last year).
I know there were a few schools that were represented on CH2K that did not have their logos and full school names or something like that. I believe Centenary was one of those. But they were represented. The eligible independents should be on the game!
As far as thinking none of these teams have a shot at making the tournament... North Dakota State is a preseason #2 pick in the Summit behind Oral Roberts and returns all 5 starters, 4 of which have started for 3 years including upsets over Wisconsin and Marquette in previous years. They defeated Oral Roberts in the final game before the conference tournament but were unable to participate because of the reclassification.Go Bison!
FCS Champs!

Re: All Div 1 Teams?
Hey thought I'd jump in on this one
You'd be surprised at how big an impact leaving these schools out is sometimes. For the last three iterations of NCAA Football for PS2 Northern Colorado has not been included in the Big Sky. This has been terribly annoying for those that go to not only Northern Colorado, but Big Sky schools as well. These schools aren't small institutions, they all range from about 8,000-15,000 students, and a lot of these dorm kids play the games.
I played College Hoops 2K8 as well and they only missed on NC Central, Presbyterian and re-named Centenary as UL-Calcutta (though that could be edited). It's just nice, because it shows how thorough the producers are. Granted, allowing them in tourneys right away is not realistic, but you could still include them and impose the same real-life restrictions. At the very least, 2K made sure every single conference was stocked full (at the time NC Central and Presbyterian were Indys).
The real mess is in a conference like the Atlantic Sun. You end up playing a schedule that has eight fewer games because of the oversight of four conference teams. That is just a strange decision...
I know the argument from some of you is who cares, why does it matter. I remember when that same argument was used in the old days of March Madness. I remember when EA included about 90 teams. People didn't necessarily care that much then either. If we went back to that, nobody would buy the game.
I'm sure EA made a fine game this year, it's just the completist in me that would like to see all the D-1 schools in the game. For a lot of people it's fun to take some of these fresh schools out of the water and try to do something with them. They got interesting uni's, funny nicknames (Presbyterian is the Blue Hose), and a giant underdog status.
Funny about Chicago State though, they have been D-I for at least a couple decades. They were in the MCC (before the Summit) and split a couple years ago. They actually had been in a March Madness game before because I would always take them in my dynasty for fun. Did EA just hit the delete key on them?Weekend Roady - http://www.weekendroady.com Sports and Travel. I'm a fan of the Nationals (MLB), Capitals (NHL), Wizards (NBA), Commanders (NFL), DC United(MLS), Crystal Palace (EPL) and too many college teams to count...

Re: All Div 1 Teams?
Besides the wrench this throws into scheduling and recruiting, it also leaves some smaller conferences with half their conference gone. It makes it silly to be a Summit League or Atlantic Sun team when they don't even have enough teams to field their postseason tournament. It also knocks off half your conference games.
And I know you have a thing for the game or EA here, but this stuff matters to a lot of people. People who want a realistic college season. We're not talking about something difficult to implement, it's a dozen or so teams.
If people want to know why CH2K had such a loyal following, it's because they didn't miss this kind of stuff. These little things were always added. Heck, this thread would have never needed to be made. So while EA can change their game's name to fool people at the stores, all I've seen so far is the same laziness and lack of attention to detail that made this series the laughing stock of sports gaming. All the excuses made for them just insures us of more years of crap.Last edited by bears5122; 11-18-2008, 03:25 AM.Comment

Re: All Div 1 Teams?
Glad to see this new game has missed so many little important things....how do you leave out half a freaking conference?! I'll be downloading the roster update off 2k share and sticking w/ my College Hoops game....at least they know how to develop a true college game and give an amazing presentation of legacy mode...
Stay classy EA--If you need it, you don't have it. If you have it you don't need it. But if you need and you don't have it, you want it. If you don't have any of it, then you really don't know how to get more of it to get started then anyways now do you? --Comment

Re: All Div 1 Teams?
None that matter, people would just like to throw in that College Hoops had teams in it that nobody gave a damn about. It's to give them reason to hate a game they never planned on getting anyways. And more gas for their fire of hatred towards another EA sports game.
College Hoops is dead because of Take-Two, not because of EA. Get over it people!
The teams that are missing aren't even Division 1 teams, prospect teams of lower schools that don't matter either way in the brackets shouldn't even matter.
All Div 1 teams are in the game, the ones that are suppose to be!Comment

Re: All Div 1 Teams?
And if you feel that schools who don't have an impact on the brackets shouldn't be in the game, why not just have the major conferences in the game and ditch all the small schools? I mean they don't matter so why waste time having them in the game?Comment

I'm not a 2K fan boy and I'm not trying to argue over which company is better. I just wanted to know what teams were missing from this game. I read that nearly half of one of the smaller conferences is missing and if that's the case, that sucks. You might not enjoy playing with the smaller schools or playing against them, but personally it's something I've always enjoyed. From previous posts, I can certainly tell that you love EA Sports basketball and that's your preference. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I merely just asked which teams weren't included in the game because I did like the fact the 2K included nearly every school last season and I've always been disappointed with EA's lack of schools. I still plan on getting the game and I enjoyed the demo. I was just looking for someone with the game to answer my question. No harm no foul man.Comment
