wow, you guys crack me up. Heres a 40 year old man dropping 27 on the defending world champs and best defensive team in the country, and doing it better than any shooting gaurd before him. You must not watch any nba games, because look in the post, there is a foul on every play. Look at the point gaurds, the are all over each other. Look at Rip Hamilton, he has learned everything from Reggie, and does every trick in the book to like Reggie. Dont tell me he is not one of the most exciting players to watch, he has more work ethic than most teams combined.

Reggie is a smart player, dirty but he does what u need to do to win, he said it he tried always thats what matters. i was expecting gin to say something like this but you need to know he does what he needs to win he would never sit out a game even if he knew there where going to lose cough.

Sure, but we can say the same about half of the stars in the NBA today.

I dont want to get into this debate in this thread though.

I saw this quote in the Indy paper today, but I think it about sums it up:
"Get up, guys," Pistons coach Larry Brown yelled to the players on his bench. "Everybody, get up."

They got up, and everybody in the House That Reggie Built got up, and nobody sat back down for what felt like hours. Miller, walking solemnly off the court, hugged his teammates, hugged Pistons players, hugged Carlisle. And just when it seemed like the ovation had reached a crescendo, just when it seemed like the roof might blow off the place, Brown, who coached Miller for four years here, made a classy gesture.
"Thank you," Miller said as he stood up to leave the interview room for a final time.

        No, Reg.

        Thank you

See Ya Reggie.... boy I hate that he had to leave like this. No matter what you say about him, he was a true competitor.

              Sad to see him go.

To me, this is definitely an end of an era for all the NBA as far as players like him goes.

              Thanks Reggie.

It is indeed the end of not just one era but two!

                1) Reggie was the link to the great stars of the 80s. He was the last guy to play against Bird, Magic, 'Nique, Jordan, Worthy, Drexler, Hakeem etc etc

                2) He's basically the last guy to spend his entire career with one team. Tim Duncan might do that but you never know in this NBA if that is a sure fire thing.

                    Re: Reggie Miller Tribute Thread

Congrats to Reggie Miller for 18 solid years in the NBA.

Although I'm not a fan of his, he was a competitor, and was always down for whateva with his team. He worked hard, played hard, and gave 110% every night (That line reminds me of Bedazzled when Brendan Fraser is a baller). To me, he was a class act. . er, for the most part. He played pretty dirty, but which one of the greats didn't. And Reggie, for all the dislike I have for him, is truely one of the greats. If the game was on the line and Reggie had a chance to touch it, the Pacers were always there.

And even tho I'm glad he is retired and not back for one more leg-kicking, foul-drawing, 4-pt play making year, I think he was cheated out of a chance to get to the Finals or even Conference Finals for a shot at the title that has always eluded him. Cause seriously, for the Pacers to get to the 6th seed (let alone the playoffs itself), then to get to the second round, and take the defending champs to a game 6, and very closely to a game 7, it's truely amazing. If they had their whole team the entire year, and the brawl never happened, I think they would be up there with the Heat, Pistons, Spurs, and possibly the Suns/Mavs as title favorites. Well, it is what it is. He's had a great career.

                    Happy retirement Reggie.

He just called in to the Dan Patrick show on ESPN Radio... He's a sure lock for a career in radio or TV as his next endeavor... In fact, once, he and Mark Jackson were on the show at the same time, and they were going back and forth on everything in sports, college football, college basketball, baseball, whatever... It was highly entertaining. I'd love to hear them on their own radio show.

That would be an awesome radio show.

He was a clutch shooter and played hard every night, but class act? I don't know about that.

Yall must not watch alot of bball, MIller was a class act through and through, he played the game guys, the game, he didnt"get away" with anytthing, he did whatever it took to win games and flopper or no flopper. Yall said it best, you hated watching, which means you will never appreciate what he did for the sport and the position. And I am not even a pacers fan.
