    Where are all the......

Kobe > Shaq fans hiding out?

Got to thinking about it after last nights game and it seems like one of the most horrible trades in NBA history shipping Shaq off.

Anyone think this is in the Herschel Walker range of idiocy? I'm starting to think so.

if anyone should had been traded it was kobe, shaq is the best player i've ever seen, he gets everyone involved making the better. kobe doesn't they could had traded kobe to phonieix and get some good players in return if i remember a rumor back in the day

You know it must be an off day in the NBA Playoffs if someone makes a Kobe thread to get attention. There's a Kobe thread for this ****. So I'm gonna try to get in before the lock (If the mods even keep track of the bball forums still)

Every NBA analyst will tell you the trade had to be made and was a logical financial move. Now, who they got in return is a different story.

the trade was pretty bad. it makes me mad that kobe runs that team and he gets to decide whatever happens. why even have an owner?

That statement is what I find hilarious and deceiving

logical financial move? Please explain the logic in paying a balky knee'd Brian Grant Max money for 3 years

For the fact that Buss lost money through the tv, radio, and arena avenue's I'd hardly call it logical in the least bit.

That wasnt a trade that had to be made, but, they chose to do it, whether they lied to people like you vinceanity or not, they handled it considerably poorly, and are now reaping the benefits.

This is gonna be my last reply in this thread, but I wouldn't pay Shaq at 34, who wanted an extention, 30 million per for over 3-4 years. That's along the lines of a Allan Houston, Jalen Rose type deal that ****s a franchise over if the player is on the decline. That's what I'm saying by logical financial move. For sure if they had kept him they might have made the playoffs. But if they had kept him, maybe he would've stayed out of shape, Then Buss pays him 90 million and he starts to decline then you're stuck with an extremely fat contract(and possibly player) that no one would want, expect maybe for guys like Cuban or Layden(oh right, he's gone). You gotta think longterm. Look at my Raptors...They acquire Jalen Rose cause they wanted to dump Antonio Davis' contract which was 5 years at 60 million. Now we have Rose for another 2 years at around 28 million and have no flexibility to acquire any Free Agents. That's the gamble of having guaranteed contracts in the NBA. You sign a declining player for big bucks, forget it... It will ruin your franchise in the long haul.

                          Re: Where are all the......

LOL comparing an all time great such as Shaq to Allan Houston and Jalen Rose. Do those guys have the impact on the game Shaq currently has?

I didnt think so. This isnt Raptorland. For what its worth, LA had an under achieving year as well as NY and TOR.

Plain and simple, the facts are what they are, and Jerry Buss made a blunder he's now paying for.

What were the logical financial implications in getting rid of Phil?

You let him go, lose money, hire another guy for 40 million who is no longer the coach, pay an interim coach more millions, then you seek the guy who you didnt once want to pay in the beginning for even more money.

Something tells me Dr Buss' calculator is in need of repair.

You pay Shaq or you dont. Keep him and you have a great investment that makes you more money, you wait until his deal expires in 2 years, or he opts out after the 1st and you have money on the books... or you do what Buss did, rush a trade to placate one particular individual and you end the year quota wise red inked, out of the playoffs (as far as extra revenue is concerned), and desperately looking for answers to cover your lies because it was a "logical financial decision"

I'll just leave that with a shrug

Shaq was awesome tonight, definitely worthy of all the overrated praise he gets. Oh wait, didn't they just score a nba low in a playoff game? This God of a basketball player who teams like Dallas refused to give up players like Dirk for?

Still amazed that Kobe haters still talk about this. I cant wait for the playoffs to end, then see what happens next season.

How convienient for YOU to come in and take shots at Shaq after a Miami lost with a shorthanded team.. No matter, as Shaq will remain an all time great reguardless, and while Kobe and his haters, and apologists are waiting for next season, we're all watching Shaq in the conference Finals AGAIN
