Whose actually going to watch the finals

I know Im not. Its a personal thing but I dont like the Spurs or the Pistons, they're both so boring to watch and I dont really see this series being entertaining. What would have been great was Phoenix Vs Miami...that would have been a great series but I have a feeling this Finals will be a snorefest.

Well if Phoenix was in, obviously I would watch.....but I'm gonna watch the Finals of course. I'm not gonna go out of my way to catch a game though.

Will be watching every minute of every game.
Two great defensive sides...a great PF up against two great post defenders...excellent guards on both sides...

      Two great coaches.

Anyone who calls this boring / won't watch should stick to AND1 vids and not even pretend to be a basketball fan...

        I won't.

Maybe the decisive game. I would of been more inclined to watch had Miami made it.

I'll watch it. I dont see why people don't like Detroit and think they are boring to watch. Is it because they are good?

I love watching Detroit AND SA. Ginobili is always exciting, and Detroit is an underrated offensive team.

I will. It's a great match-up but I'm not all that excited by it. Right now, I'm expecting a low-scoring affair from both teams. Definitely great basketball to watch, but not very entertaining.

*Yawn*, this type of post has been made a million times.

"I want Miami and PHX to win cause SA and Detroit are boring".

Sorry both Sa and Det play the best brand of ball. They play D, they swing the ball and they don't make stupid mistakes. I do hate the Pistons, but it's because of my immense hate for Larry Brown and Rasheed Wallace, but I can appreciate their greatness. It baffles me how anyone can say both those teams are boring. Watch Manu then tell me if he's boring!

Pretty much stole the words right out of my mouth . . . especially the last part. .

As a basketball fan this is what I've wanted since the 90's. How many years were the finals a formality for the team winning the Western Conference Finals or Semi's (ie the real Finals)?

It's all good though, I just hope none of the people tuning out are the same ones David Aldridge described in his article.

Well hey if you don't want to watch the finals, where you will see basketball how it should be played, you are just doing yourself a disservice, if you like basketball, so what if there aren't going to be a ton of scoring. That can be boring after awhile too, seeing a team pretty much shirk the responsibility of playing defense.

People tend to associate SA/ Detroit as boring because they are small market teams without any flashy players. What they do, however is play sound basketball. They play both offense and defense and as a fan, it is always good to watch two evenly matched teams play. Their strengths and weaknesses are about the same, so each team will have to keeping switching strategy on the fly to have an upper hand. Sometimes people tend to forget that basketball is just as much a mental game as it is a physical game. During last night's game, the Heat had a good chance of winning until at the end, they started making mental mistakes (Damon Jones bad pass while in the air, for example) I think it will be a good Final and like someone said, it is not a forgone conclusion who will win.

Re: Whose actually going to watch the finals

Detroit-SA is much better than last years LA-Detroit series. LA was more of a fluke than anything last year. Even though these are not the 2 teams I wanted to see in the finals, it will be good basketball nonetheless.

I can understand the original posters post however. No flashy superstars, no high powered offenses means a ratings hit. Me and a co-worker were talking about this sometime last week. I'm sure the NBA would much rather have Shaq in the finals for ratings purposes. You gotta realize that there are alot of basketball fans who only watch bball for the Lebrons and the TMacs and dont care much for solid, cohesive teams that win games. Hell, SA has been a elite team for the last 7 years but thats the last team you here most folks talk about outside of Texas. So in so many words, yes, these ppl should stick to And1 if they think that the Finals will be boring.

Re: Whose actually going to watch the finals

If I have a choice between the 2 top teams playing uptempo or consistently running long, drawn-out offences, I'll take uptempo every time. Maybe I'm not a purist or a real fan of basketball because I don't get amped for games where neither team scores 40 in a half, and enjoyed the Phoenix-Dallas series much more than Indy-Detroit, but that's a far cry from wanting to watch and1.

I'll definitely watch it, but I doubt I'll see every game. It was tough enough finding people interested in watching Phoenix-Dallas or even just convincing people to hold off on going out on the weekend until the games were over. I don't think I'll be able to do that if this series fulfills the ultra low-scoring potential it has.
