I'll definitely watch it, but I doubt I'll see every game. It was tough enough finding people interested in watching Phoenix-Dallas or even just convincing people to hold off on going out on the weekend until the games were over. I don't think I'll be able to do that if this series fulfills the ultra low-scoring potential it has.

This goes back to the argument I started years ago in this forum when I made a poll asking if ppl would rather see Fundemental basketball or Flashy Basketball. I remember I said I'd rather see Flash and I must of got flamed that entire day.

Dont get it twisted, I'm on the same page as you in a way. I would rather see up-temp bball than a defensive game anyday but at the same time, I can tolerate low scoring, defensive games cause they can create its own excitment.

Detroit and SA are 2 fundementally sound teams that I'm sure will turn so ppl off if they like more flash and shake-n-bake style of ball.

Really wasn't directing my comments at you there, but the other and1 comment above, as I do feel there's a good chance we'll be seeing a boring series. I'm looking forward to see how the 2 matchup, but there's a really good chance we're going to be looking at low-scoring, low FG% games, and to me that is boring compared to an uptempo game with lots of back-and-forth scoring.

I can definitely tolerate the low-scoring as well, but I only personally know 1 or 2 other people that will, so I'll either be watching games solo or suckering somebody into it, and will likely miss a few of them.

Re: Whose actually going to watch the finals

Ill be watchin every minute of the series. I find the matchup between the two teams to be exciting. Great Defense, with Good/Great offenses. To me, the Pistons will be forcing all types of problems for the spurs D. Parker cannot guard billups 1one1 cause he's too strong in the post, BUT Parker will have problems with Rip too because of the height disadvantage. Rasheed's versatility is gonna be a problem for the spurs...who is gonna stick him??? I guess Duncan will, but Rasheed is probrably to quick for him on the outside. Plenty of things to watch out for..This should be a Great series. Dont know who is gonna win.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Spurs are the most exciting "boring" team to watch. I love the way they play.

Of course I'll be watching. Not to offend or to make anybody mad but I get tired of hearing people saying that these finals are going to suck because the Spurs and Pistons don't run up and down the court and score over 110 points a game. Defensive basketball is where it is. Phoenix is at home because they don't play defense. This is the best series we could have had and I'm glad we're getting it.

Re: Whose actually going to watch the finals

to me it's boring to watch these morons run down the court, jack up a shot every 5 seconds, not play ANY defense, and then complain when they lose.

Pistons-Spurs will be the most evenly matched finals since 1998 Utah vs. Chicago.

Thank you very much. Finally somebody who knows what they're saying. This will be a great series. I loved that 1998 Utag/Chicagao series. It was great, fundamental basketball.

I think this will be one of the most exciting Finals since the Jordan era. This could go 7 games and I believe that every game will come to to the last few minutes.

I can't wait for it to start. I also think that every game will come down to the final 5 minutes. Late game execution will most likely decide these games and the team that executes better, makes key shots, doesn't turn the ball over, play sound defense, and make free throws will win.

What would have been great was Phoenix Vs Miami...that would have been a great series but I have a feeling this Finals will be a snorefest.

Are you crazy! A snorefest, you must not watch basketball alot. The spurs are not boring at all, your just tired of seeing tim duncan killing em softly will a calm smile. I think i enjoy watching ginobili fry his defenders and horry hitting big shots, or rasheed knocking down the three, or mr. big shot billups taking over in crunch time as much as i love watching flash create his legend night after night. the finals are in good hands whether its phoenix detriot, phoenix miami, spurs miami. how are the spurs boring? they just finish beating phoenix at their own game... running and gunning except they ( san antonio ) played defense and got stops in crunch time. they averaged over 100 ppg. in the series, open ya eyes slim!

Stop coming in with this crap...

I am real psyched about this series (not just because I'm an avid Spurs fan) but I really like to implement a lot of NBA moves and shots and strategies into my own game. I have Michael Jordan's shot (although its no where near as accurate... I score about 12 per game on Varsity).

Anyway, watching a series like this... I am hoping to learn and implement a lot of defensive skills into my game. The way I should play man-to-man, and then my rotation on defense to help out my fellow teammates. There is so much to learn this series, especially for defense... and by far, I will have my eyes glued to every minute... so in a sense... its not boring at all for me.

Do y'all run the shell drill? That is probably the best drill to use to run man-to-man defense principles in terms of where and when to rotate. And of course you know the basics of always trying to force you man to a baseline and not let him get directly to the rim.

I said it's gonna be a great matchup. But as far as an entertainment standpoint i think it's going to be boring (except Manu). I know it's going to be real fundamentally sound and young players who want to learn more about the game should watch this series. But as for myself playing college ball and going all season being taught to be fundamental i just want a break and see a more exciting matchup thats all!!!!!

Re: Whose actually going to watch the finals

What trips me out is how people complain that the NBA players have no fundamentals (What's Tim Duncan's nickname?), there's no team defense (What are the Spurs Bruce Bowen and the Pistons Ben Wallace and Tayshaun Prince best known for??), theres no strategy (Larry Brown and Greg Pop are 2 of the league's best minds), its all one on one play (Neither teams has this problem), no mid-range jumshots (Rip Hamilton anyone??).

My favorite is, "I don't watch because they don't play the right way". I'm still trying to figure out the right way to play basketball.

Its funny how people say one thing but mean another. They want more team play but according to some, its going to be a boring matchup. They want more D being played, but won't watch because its going to be low scoring.

NOW, you have the finals with the 2 best TEAMS in NBA going at it and people are still complaining. For what?? Sure its isn't "sexy" matchup of indivdual superstars or big market teams, but if you are a hoops fan you can and will appreciate this matchup.

I swear I'll never be able to figure people out.

This is the first finals I'm going to watch every game of since '98.

These are the teams that the NBA needs. Teams that play defense, teams that play together, have great chemistry and teamwork. Teams with great roleplayers who actually KNOW THEIR ROLE. Not 2 stars then a buncha bums. Not a few stars, then 3 role players who think they're MJ and play way outta their game and jack up shots, make poor decisions.

I'm a throwback guy when it comes to sports, especially basketball, and I'm going to love every minute of this series.
