If I was a GM I would offer Joe Johnson the max over 6 years just to cap out the suns.

Exactly. You either get a great player or limit what the competition can do in the future.

As far as Hughes' possible signing with the Cavaliers. Look at it this way: You're not only gaining a talent, but taking away a key part from another up-and-coming team that rivals you in your conference.
