dude if you had 1 season to win a championship and had to pick a player to get you there, who do you pick? micheal jordan? no, you pick shaq, duncan, kidd, mcgrady, kobe, pierce, garnett,payton......mj is a solid player that has great leadership, but best player in the game? there are plenty of players i would rather have then the former best player ever.

I won't get into who's the best player in the league is. I mean really who cares. All that matters are the "W's" The Lakers have won the last 3 championships end of story.

I think the Lakers should tinker around with other types of offenses till Shaq comes back. Obviously the triangle isn't working now. With Shaq out I don't think they have the right personel to run the triangle. Yeah, Jordan ran it without a dominant center, but he had Pippen. Kobe doesn't have someone comparable, heck he doesn't even have Fox!

Yes he's one four titles

Are you conceding the title to the Lakers this year? If not, Kobe only has 3 rings.

Right now the Lakers do not even look like a playoff team...

So if I was in Lakerland.. I would praying for healthy Big Toes!

and if I started a team right now.. I would go with Tracy McGrady!

Kobe's attitude could be a cancer to a team.

Tex Winter on Kobe --- Needless to say, this did not go down well with Tex. As he drove me back to my hotel, he proceeded to harangue Kobe all the while. The adjectives came flying out of his long diatribe: "Out of control ... selfish ... stubborn ... uncoachable." And worse.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. A few things to remember. Tracy McGrady has more talent around him than Kobe, if you don't count Shaq and Grant Hill. The Lakers have lots of good role players, with players who step up when it counts. Robert Horry, Rick Fox, Derek Fisher, Brian Shaw all fit into this. Robert Horry and Brian Shaw hit big shots, and are consistent, but usually they have to rest during the regular season because there older bodies can't hold up. Devean George may have just as much talent, but Mike Miller is the more complete player now. They also had Troy Hudson as a reliable scorer. At the center Position, Andrew DeClerq, Steven Hunter, and Pat Burke(who I must say has been an excellent pickup) blow Soumalia Samake(who has only played ball for like 3 years, and it shows) and Samaki Walker(waste of talent) away at the center. One more thing about McGrady carrying the team. Darrel Armstrong really helped him out, as he is a great defender, and heady point guard. Pat Garrity, while not the best PF, is an excellent shooter, and you can't leave him open. Even Michael Doleac, and John Amaechi had good seasons down there at the center spot.

As for the Lakers, they will be fine. A please shut up with all the Kobe is selfish remarks. Does anyone seem to remember Michael Jordan when he first came in the league? As greedy as they come Geez, it makes you wonder if because of all of MJ's success, that people forget he had his growing pains too. By the way, Kobe was much more effecient the second game, shooting 50% from the field. You think he's the only one who's forced shots and had obscene shooting numbers? All of the stars do. If the Lakers are going to be tentative(and they played like it until the 4th quarter of the Portland game when the second squad seemed to gain a lot of confidence), then I can live with Kobe shooting a little more. Trust me, being out here in LA, the rest of the team WILL take shots at him in the newspaper if they think he shoots to much. Just remember back to that second championship season with all the bickering if you don't believe me.

Trey
PS, I would pick Kobe to start my team other than Shaq, though I like McGrady almost as much. But Kobe's refusal to lose(like he showed in the playoffs) would put him as my number one. That and he's a better jump shooter.
Trey's Teams to Watch:

UCLA Bruins B-Ball
American Eagles B-Ball
LA Lakers
Arsenal Gunners

Re: Lakers already bickering

Both Kobe and McGrady have respectable teams, out of the big three, Iverson had the worst and look how far he took them. There is no excuse for McGrady not being able to get his team past the 1st round and there is no excuse why Kobe can't get his teamates together and get some wins without the Diesel. Yeah Jordan was selfish in the beginning of his career, cause he had no help. Kobe had Shaq and was being selfish. Phil had to damn near trade him in order to understand the logic that he isn't the #1option. Kobe has change from then. Kobe has the weapos he needs within his teamates but he just has to learn to use them.
