Yup.....trading Q was a HUGE mistake if we let JJ go too. I mean, I just dont understand the logic behind it. We shouldve traded him when it was obvious what situation we're gonna be dealing with; One with Joe Johnson, one without.

I have a feeling that Barbosa is going somewhere, now.

They could've gotten a future 1st from many teams for Q-Rich. I mean, his stock dropped after the playoffs, but not THAT much. For Colangelo to include HIS OWN first was absolutely boneheaded. Talk about no vaseline.

Those 2 future firsts from the Hawks just gives Phoenix leverage down the road. We don't know exactly what it means right now. I'd hold off on the Rod Thorn/K-Mart comparisons.

Sorry Charlie, but Barbosa has no trade value on his own. Unless packaged with Marion, he's staying. And at this point, unless you want to scrap the season, Colangelo should keep Marion and see where this team is near the trading deadline in Feb.

Allan Houston would fit well in that Suns offense IMO. Finley, I dunno.

They should take a hard look at Chandler although I'm not sure how much money they have to play with.

Diaw good but is also bad, he really like that if you watch him play and see, but this isn't bad deal for Phoenix, they need to sign some vets, so they can have balance next year.

They have a bunch of swingmen. 6'4 to 6'8" guys.

I think JJ is a good piece for them. In that offense. They're overpaying him IMO but he's the most legit player on that entire squad. He can have an all-star year.

I think it'll be something small but Barbosa still might be on his way out. I dont know. We'll see what happens.

Finley would fit in great, I'm just worried about his consistency as he's not getting any younger. Him and Nash played together for years, and joining back up would work wonders I think. I'd be real excited.

Actually, they're trying to get him to run the point...

can't blame the hawks for trying - they've been so pathetic the last SIX years people here in A-town really don't give a crap anymore!

                  Re: Joe Johnson a Hawk

Well, I'm still upset we didnt match the offer. Joe was such an integral part of our offense and added so much versatility, that I'm very sad to see him go. Deep down though, I'm sort of happy we didnt tie up that much money. I know that it's very possible to do it (Dallas did it, NY did it) so it's not an issue of being able to do it like others suggest.

I'm starting to take comfort in the fact that we might be able to bring in Michael Finley. Maybe it'll revitalize him. This year was not that great for Michael, but I think that has a lot to do with no Nash there to feed him the ball. Him meeting up with Nash again will pump him up and I think he can be very valuable. My main concern though is that by not resigning Johnson, we're gonna settle for older players and it's gonna slow us down. We were viewed as one of the youngest (if not THE youngest) team in the league and I just dont want the older people to bog us down so to speak.

Then again, we are a much better half court team than people give us credit for. How many times did the pick and roll work this year? Jeez. Innumerable times. We ran a double screen in the playoffs a few times and it was so great, but for some reason we didnt use it as much as we shouldve. I think our half court team will be just fine.

I guess I'm just pissed that we not only got rid of Quentin Richardson, we NOW got rid of Joe Johnson. That Frenchie better come through, dammit!

Oh well, this is just me thinking onto my keyboard.

I love it how a week ago your were 100% sure that the Suns would match the offer.

Diesel......technically we ARE matching the offer.

We sign him to Atlanta's terms, and then we're trading him. Hehe.

I think Atlanta is fine. The worst case scenario (in terms of finding PT for everyone) is they get a capable PG of 30mpg.

                          PG- Player X (30) l J.Johnson (12) l S.Stoudemire (6)
                          SG- J.Johnson (26) l J.Childress (22)
                          SF- J.Smith (32) l J.Childress (10) l M.Williams (6)
                          PF- A.Harrington (34) l M.Williams (14)
                          C- ??????

If they do indeed play Joe Johnson at PG though, they're will be more than enough minutes to go around. Most of their swing players are versitale enough to go down and play minutes at PF (MWJ and Josh Smith) or play some PG (Stoudemire and JJ)

I was listening to local sports show that is very on with Suns basketball and the JJ situation and word is that Sarver called JJ to get a deal done but JJ blew him off also reportedly Sarver, at one point, offered 75 million over 6 but JJ turned that down

Joe Johnson is going to quickly find out that there's a distinct difference between being "the man" vs. being a role-player. I just can't see him maintaining his level of D while suddenly seeing consistent traps and doubles on a nightly basis.
