Is it any wonder that the Hawks have sucked for years now, and will continue to do so for many more.

There does get to be a point where you look past the stupidity of their roster moves over the years, and just plain feel sorry for their fans.
My sympathy is with them in this deal... as it's now going to be a much longer time before the Hawks become a potential playoff team again.
Then again, they can always resort to
And yet if they dont trade for JJ, the have the exact same team minus Joe Johnson and are even worse.

    PG:someone good
    SG:Joe Johnson
    SF:Marvin Williams
PF:Al Harrington/josh smith depending on who will stay
    C:Collier
    Its more like...

G- Joe Johnson l Tyronne Lue
G- Josh Childress l Salim Stoudemire
F- Josh Smith l Marvin Williams
F- Al Harrington l Esteban Batista
C- Zaza Pachulia l JasoN Collier

        What a horrific trade.

        Diaw tonight 14/13/11

Someone mentioned this and I thought the same thing...Why did the Hawks even need to do a Sign and Trade. Wasn't Phoenix saying they wouldn't match the deal?

:y4: Yep... but they wanted to give the Suns "something" for him. And boy, didn't that work out wonderful for the hawks

You act like Boris Diaw is a mvp candidate. Relax man any wing player in the Suns system with Nash at PG will thrive. I'm not knocking him, but you can't say its a horrific trade. Joe Johnson a 6'7 1-3 position. That's nice, he had a hardtime playing the point with his turnovers. But the man can do just about anything in the court and help guide this young team.

Still not a bad deal for a player who was going to leave the team for nothing. Diaw is averaging better numbers in certain categories than Johnson was when he was here and I would think that has more bang for the buck than Joe Johnson.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

It was said that they would match anything for JJ.. probably a lie, but that's Billy Knights decision.. Boris showed absolutely nothing here in Atlanta, it is good to see that he is blossoming in Phe. Joe has been putting up the numbers that is expected of him, not a bad move for either team as the picks are lottery protected, and as a Hawks fan, I really don't want anymore young players anyway. If the Hawks would just fire Mike Woodson, I think we will be in good shape.. (Oh yeah, and get us a friggin PG)

Phoneix was saying they WOULD match any deal to JJ to scare the Hawks from out right matching JJ and then putting the Suns in a tough position to let JJ go for nothing or sign someone to a MAX deal that didnt want to be there in Phoniex.

                        Why is he selfish?

Because he was a 24 year old kid that wanted to become the best possible player he could be (And he is currently proving he could be a big time player in this league) and was smart enough to see that he wasn't going to develop in Phoniex and in that system?

He was the 4th best player in the PHX system behind Nash, Amare and the Matrix and with all locked in long term, things were gonna be like that for the reaminder of his contract assuming he signed with PHX.

Do you really expect him to be happy with that? Would you be happy with that?

I just don't understand this thinking.

I dont blame JJ one bit for making that decision and when Atlanta actually gets Joe Johnson some help, his fame will grow. The guy is putting up 20-6-4 this season on very good shooting numbers as the lone threat on the team.

As far as the trade, its so muc bigger than comparing JJ and Diaw's stats and saying who got the better deal. Atlanta will seek the benefits in the next few years from that trade.

Bingo, RockinMike. I just think that IF Atlanta took CP3 instead... the JJ trade would be looking A LOT nicer.
