    Garnett: Career / Duncan: Career

    49% of career FG% ---------- 50.7%
    29.9% in 3 pt line--------------19.4%

    Assist: 4.6-------------------------3.1
    Turnover: 2.6-----------------------3.0
    Steal: 1.4---------------------------0.8
    Blocks: 1.7---------------------------2.5

It seems like the difference in stats between Duncan and Garnett is not really very far from each other opposite to what you claim that they are not even close. I got all those listing from Yahoo.com under players. Though Garnett played more games (775 games) compared to Duncan's (586 games). I don't know if it matters.

Yeah, I noticed. Duncan's skills declined and win 2 championships in 3 years and Garnett's skills got better and missed the playoffs in the 3rd year. I know it doesn't make sense but, whatever makes you happy makes me happy.

When Duncan won his third NBA Finals MVP in seven years, Duncan joined Michael Jordan (six), Shaquille O'Neal (three) and Magic Johnson (three) as the only ones to have accomplished the trifecta.

Ya, except Duncan is closer to a center and Garnett is closer to a small forward.

They play different styles, and I would easily take Duncan over Garnett, although Kevin is one of my favorite players and can do things Duncan could never dream of.

Let's check if Duncan choke in the finals.

                Individual playoff stat comparison.

                20.0 R. Hamilton Scoring T. Duncan 23.6
                11.3 B. Wallace Rebounds T. Duncan 12.4
                6.5 C. Billups Assists T. Parker 4.4
                1.7 B. Wallace Steals M. Ginobili 1.2
                2.4 B. Wallace Blocks T. Duncan 2.3

                In the Finals:

                Game 1: Duncan 24
                Manu 26
                Horry 7
                Game 2: Duncan 18
                Manu 27
                Horry 12
                Game 3: Duncan 14
                Manu 7
                Horry 6
                Game 4: Duncan 16
                Manu 12
                Horry 5
                Game 5: Duncan 26
                Manu 15
                Horry 21
                Game 6: Duncan 21
                Manu 21
                Horry 8
                Game 7: Duncan 25
                Manu 23
                Horry 15

Bottom Line: Duncan 20.57 PPG/ Finals
                Manu 18.7 PPG/ Finals
                Horry 10.5 PPG/ Finals

Just looking at the points production, Duncan deserve the MVP. Plus his average is just about the same as his season average, so that tells me that he is consistent.

And if it wasn't for the exceptional game of Hudson and Wally 2 or 3 seasons ago in MIN, they would have not went deep in the playoffs. And if it wasn't for Pippen, Jordan would have not won 6 titles. So what is your point about Duncan not winning the finals if Horry and Manu was not there? They won once without Horry and Manu was on the bench. It was Duncan, Kerr, Robinson, Rose and Mario Elie back then.

Just because you can take someone off the team and without them, they wouldn't have won. That doesn't make them the MVP. That's one of the dumbest things I've seen.

My MVP Candidates (Pre-Season) in no particular order:

Dwyane Wade - Shaq is an advantage, but the kid's getting better and better

Allen Iverson - has carried the Sixers Franchise since he came into the league and probably could have won more MVP's

Tim Duncan - still the premier player in the NBA even though Ginobilli could steal some of his thunder this season

Tracy McGrady - the Rockets will be a very good team this season and maybe McGrady will finally get his first MVP

LeBron James - simply awesome and will be even better with Hughes on the team
