Re: is it safe to say
Originally posted by SarahI would say Chauncey Billups. I think he is harder to defend than Nash because he is stronger plus it is also difficult to score against him.Comment

Honestly, they are about equals. Chaunc' with an eff rating of 21.8, Nash with 21.5. I still take Nash though.Comment

Re: is it safe to say
stats aren't the end all and be all.....
but you put nash on the pistons and he has simliar numbers.
you have a healthy amare.. and he has similar numbers.
bottom line is that billups may be have a better season (although not even by that much), but nash is a game changer.Comment

Re: is it safe to say
Both are great players but lets not forget that the Suns lost 3/5 of thier starting lineup and have had significant injuries which really affects the Suns because they focus all of their attention on Steve Nash. As of now Billups may not even be the biggest offensive threat on the team.Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.Comment

Re: is it safe to say
Both Chauncey Billups and Steve Nash are about equal now if we're discussing best PG in the league. The difference offensively is that Billups is more versatile because he can call his own number and post up smaller guards for scoring. But Billups also has trouble finishing layups from time to time in cases he doesn't draw a foul while Nash doesn't really have that problem. And Nash is still a better passer despite Billups improvement in his assist numbers. Can't go wrong with choosing either one to run a team. It mainly depends on pace and makeup of the team on which way to go. Running a primarily up-tempo open-court offense with a team full of athletes favors Nash. Meanwhile running a more structured halfcourt offense that emphasize post play favors Billups.
However, defensively it isn't that close. Nash gets abused in the post on a regular basis. His teammates have to help him out way too much whenever he gets backed down. Billups has trouble keeping smaller, quicker guards in front of him. He gets beat with the dribble penetration, but not as often as Nash gets beat in the post.

Re: is it safe to say
I might be wrong but I still think that Jason Kidd and Steve Nash are better. If you traded Kidd for Billups, I don't think the Pistons would have a drop off but the Nets would certaintly be worse. Similarily, if you trade Nash for Billups, I don't think Pistons would be worse but I don't see the Suns being nearly as competitive as they are now.Comment

Billups is exactly what the Pistons need, they've done a great job molding him and Joe Dumars did a great job assembling that team. He's the league's premier PG, no doubt in my mind. Steve Nash might get the press, Chauncey Billups gets the wins.Comment
