Ric Bucher reported on ESPNEWS earlier today that the Warriors are in the drivers seat for Artest offering Murphy/Piertrus for Artest and probably Foster. Good trade for both teams imo. Murphy gives Pacers a PF who can strech the floor and a good rebounder. Pietrus is good young defensive player who could strive in Indiana. Warriors getting Artest would be huge coup by Mullin who yet again would pull of the trade of the year. Artest is a top 10-15 player in the league and would bring the intensity and defensive mentality the Warriors need. Would give the Warriors one of the best trio's (BD,Jrich,Artest) in the league. Warriors play Indiana thursday so a trade could be likely by the weekend.

I'd love to see it happen. Especially with Pietrus. I've always been sort of high on him. It seems he has a lot of talent, and really isn't getting the run there in Golden State. I don't like giving up Murphy from GS's persective. He brings too much to the table for them, too much that Adonal Foyle can't fill.

So JO is gonna move to full time C? Not sure thats he best move, but I think its one of the best deals that IND can get and they should take it if possible. I'm also very high on Pietrus. Not as a star but as a very good role player. He's also got the chance to be a hell of a defender IMO.
However, I dont think IND wants to take on Murphy's contract, not horrible since he is a 16-8 guy but not salary friendly. Probably need to find a 3rd team to send Murphy to and send IND some expiring contracts and a pick.Comment

If Golden State trades away Murphy who is going to play inside. Diagu is a rookie that has looked good in spots but he can't be counted on to put up numbers for a whole season. They still dont have anyone in the paint that can score. Golden State would also have to give Artest a new contract and lock up more money long term in a player that you never know how long he will play. I like Piertrus for the Pacers since he is a player a lot like Artest without all the drama. The problem is that both Murphy and Piertrus have had the injury bug lately and I dont know if you can count on them to be healthy for a complete season.Comment

Artest is under contract till 2008 so he will not get a new contract till then. Ike would be starting PF he is much better in the post than Murphy and unstoppable at times in the post. The biggest concern with Ike is foul trouble he needs to lean how to stay on the floor like most rookies, once he does that he will put up big numbers.Comment

Artest might be under a contract until 2008 but he is way underpaid. I think one of the reasons he wants out is to get to another team that will redo his deal so he makes more money. I think the Pacers said no so Artest said trade me.Comment
