Golden State would also have to give Artest a new contract and lock up more money long term in a player that you never know how long he will play. I like Piertrus for the Pacers since he is a player a lot like Artest without all the drama. The problem is that both Murphy and Piertrus have had the injury bug lately and I dont know if you can count on them to be healthy for a complete season.

its obvious you dotn watch us play, murphy is nto a banger, hes a finesse PF that shoots jumpers, up until recently he has NEVER scored PIP much.

For the person who said you dotn like giving up murphy, im sorry but as much as i love the dude, his defense is HORRIBLE, absolutly HORRIBLE. With diogu even though his defense may be bad now, atleast he gives us the dynamic on offense to throw the ball inside, something we dont have with troy...

I think troy would be good in Indiana because jermaine is a post player and can throw it out to troy to knock down that mid range jumper or three point shot when being doubled... I'd do it in a heartbeat...

Now I am a huge Foster fan, but most of his rebounds are "hustle" rebounds.

He is a great rebounder, but he can get shut down oh so easily when he faces a "big" lineup. DET killed us last year, he was actually benched for that whole series.

Foster also cant hit a lay up to save his life.

But I think GS may get Foster/Cro if that supposed trade goes down

You cant restructure deals in the NBA, so its all a moot point

Minnesota is the team that Artest could fit into well

        A) KG is such an unselfish superstar that Artest is gonna get the touches he supposively wants.

        B) Minnesota needs a 2nd guy on that team and Artest would be that. Not only can he get them 18-20 PPG, but he's gonna score inside, play defense, and open up shots for other teams, not to mention taking pressure off KG.

        C) Minnesota is not trading KG and if they want to compete, they need to make a big move and this is one of those huge chance, but huge rewards type of trade. It could possibly put MIN up with Dallas/Phoenix.

Minny would need a 3rd team to get involved and give Indy the expiring contracts they want.

Troy Murphy...not a bad player, but not what I want.

We need a banger to do O'Neal's dirty work. That's what I thought Foster could give us, but he hasn't. We need that rebounder/defender to play tough against Detriot and Miami. Troy Murphy is not that player...he's Austin Croshere. What is it? Larry loves white, 6-10 PF's with some stroke? Hold out for Digou...ah, that's never gonna happen, but Murphy? Ugh, I feel fourth place starting to slip away already.

Pietrus is a good throw-in, though. Very good. He'll give us a spark off the bench, as well as some very good defense.

I guess this is what happens when the rest of league knows you want to trade someone...you get low-balled. At least we're not trading him for Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, Alonzo Mourning and protected picks.

              Minnesota can offer...

              Michael Olowokandi - 5.9 Million / 1 year
              Rashad McCants - 1.3 Million / 3 years

              for

              Ron Artest - 6.5 Million / 6.5 Million

Minnesota's loses their current backup C and would need to trade for another one after this trade but it gives IND a young guy and an expiring contract. I'd think MIN would even throw in a protected 1st to get it done.

I think that was b/c yesterday was when contracts became guaranteed all year.

Alot of players were cut on Thursday.

It takes 2 business days to clear waivers. If they haven't cleared waivers by end of business Monday they are considered "on the team" and contracts are then guaranteed. So yesterday was the true cut off date and that's why so many were axed. Expect many of these guys to be resigned Tuesday morning.
