Re: Who is the better overall player, Kobe or T-Mac?
Kobe missed 16 games and had plantar fasciities for a good duration of the season. This is about equivalent to T-Mac missing 14 games and his current back issues.Originally posted by Brankles
Where did this come from? I shouldn't even respond to this, because it doesn't really have much to do with anything... but I will.
Kobe missed 16 games (TMac's missed 14)
Odom played 64 games (so... 18 missed, compared to Yao's 21 and counting)
No one expected Vlade Divac to even play last year.
George is a bench player. You had Caron Butler starting.
Your coach quit because of Kobe Bryant (don't bother responding to that, I already know what you'll say.)
Odom the final 18 games of the season (lakers went something like 2-16), which is about equivalent to Yao's 21 missed games.
I for one expected Vlade Divac to play last season, as did many others. He didn't get hurt until training camp. He ended up missing basically the entire season. He was supposed to be the Lakers starting center, but we had to throw Chris MIhm in there instead. This is almost as equivalent to Bobby Sura's injury.
Brian Grant was suppose to be our starting power forward, but he ended up being injured for the majority of the season. He was only able to start 8 games for us and could never go for more than 20 minutes. This forced us to play Lamar Odom at the power forward position against the Western elite. This is equivalent to Rafer's injury.
Deveon George, one of the Lakers best bench players, missed 67 games. He was the only other guy, besides Kobe, to have played in the Triangle for more than 3 years. This is equivalent to Jon Barry's injury.
On top of all this, the coach had to leave the team in the middle of the season, when quite frankly, the Lakers were at there high point. They had their best record of the season, were in 6th place, and had gone 1-1 with Kobe injured. I'd put money on the fact that he didn't leave because of team issues.Comment

I was just playing Devil's advocate on the last one. Mofasa didn't even know how to respond to a post that was practically handed to him. (lmao at his response below). Like I said earlier, I was responding to some clown that said TMac couldn't win with Yao when they've played like 12 games together this year.
The Lakers definitely had injuries last year... but a lot of people (myself included) expected the Lakers to do better than they did.
Also, I dunno if I would compare Bob Sura to a 376 year old Divac, Jon Barry to Devean George or Yao Ming to Lamar Odom, as I think each of the Rockets player is more valuable to his team... but I can understand your point.
I still think the Rockets have it worse off than the Lakers did last year... and their record shows. It's only halfway through the season, too. It can only get worse (injury #'s wise) from here.Comment

Personally, I don't think it's fair judging Kobe Bryant as a player/leader based soley on last season. If he continues to have similar results 4-5 years down the line, then something can be said about it. Likewise, I don't think it's fair to judge T-Mac as a player/leader based soley on his last season in Orlando (he did get them to the playoffs before) or on this season (Houston made the playoffs last year).Comment

I don't think it's fair either. Years of watching TMac (good and bad) and years of watching Kobe (rings and lotto picks) have allowed me to make what I think is a valid judgement of each player.
Kobe is doing exactly what I thought he'd do on the Lakers, except with a slightly better record. No doubt he is uber-talented.Comment

you know whats bad you guys try to rile up stuff when you know better and that post didn't deserve a response cause you of all people know better, Ive seen you post you try to be fair most times then just go off because you feel the 'need to balance things out' so to speak.I don't think it's fair either. its really unecessary just chill out and say what you think, cause why would you post that knowing it to be false or inaccurate? It makes no sense, i didn't reply cause you know the truth, everyone does (whether they admit it or not), and thats the important thing.-Jerry West“It’s so senseless to me to say he shouldn’t take over like that.
