Bingo. I read something from Rip I believe that stated they would love to win 70, but without the ring it dont mean a thing. Of course they want to, but the goal is a title and nothing else. Anyone remember those T shirts the bulls made for the playoffs as their slogan in 1996? The P's played horrably besides CB1 yesterday and still almost won against a quality team on the road.

So many things have to happen each night to win games like this when you play poorly overall as a team. Just didnt get it done. This team has proven they can win on the road in the playoffs and with home court no team will beat them IMO. Nets have an interesting team, but they can't even win consistenly in the weak East, so to say they could possibly beat the Pistons in a 7 game series is a stretch IMO.

Maybe in other towns...but not Detroit.

Remember... we saw the Red Wings set the regular season record for wins and then bomb out in the playoffs. If you don't think Mr. D, Joe, and Flip haven't talked about that already...you'd be wrong.

Last I heard, everyone wants a NBA Championship. As good as that team is, they most certainly will be in the NBA Finals. They've already won 2 and are proven to be an elite team, why not chase the record? I'm sure they wont just go out there and say they will but I know in the back of their mind, they're tryna chase history. Who would'nt. Not enough pride in the world can take away from being apart of history.

exactly . a nba champion is crowned yearly . if that was my team , my goal would be to win 70 and win the chip , and go down as one of- if not the greatest team ever. . what happens if they dont win 70 and still lose.
And with the third pick - I made the earth sick

That's flawed logic because winning the ring IS making history.

Without Google... who has the most wins in MLB history? Year?

What about NHL? Which year? What was the record?

How many people remembered the Bulls record and year off the top of their heads from the 72 win season?

Championships are the ONLY history that matters.

            Ask Peyton Manning

I remeber when Phoenix and Seattle chased the record before the Bulls did. Cant tell you about NHL and MLB.

I see that you guys are all brainwashed into believing that this season is strictly for a title. Is'nt every season?

I can already see the ppl using the excuse of them not wanting to chase the record when or if they dont beat the record. The record chase is one of the biggest stories in the NBA right now, its hard to avoid. Its as if they're doubting themselves in doing it so they're content for a ring instead. I say its a hogwash story that makes for a golden boy image because we all know the Pistons are'nt the Bad Boy Pistons.

I could care less about the Pistons record half way through the season. Kobe being insane, tons of high scorers, and Ron Artest are bigger stories than the Pistons having a great first half.

God forbid the Pistons' #1 goal be the pinnacle of the sport that they play. If they go 73-9 and don't win the title, it is a failure of a season.

                  Wake up.

                  69-13 + NBA Championship > 73-9 and no title.

Period. End of discussion. But I suppose I'm just a brainwashed Pistons' fan, right? :y4:

Obviously that's the ideal scenario, but I personally don't see it as being a realistic possibility. And the Pistons aren't thinking about it yet, either.

This is the sign of the ridiculous Sportscenter generation. What a pathetic testament. There's not a player in the NBA that wouldn't rather have the ring. Furthermore, any logical NBA fan would feel the same way. ESPECIALLY people in cities other than San Antonio, Detroit, LA, Houston and Chicago -- the teams that have gathered all the rings for the last 20 years.

                        Knicks fans? Record or ring?
                        Boston?
                        Cleveland?
                        Nets?
                        Philly?

                        Records mean nothing.

                        Stats mean nothing.

                        Championships mean everything.

                        In EVERY sport!

                        Ben Roethlisberger... 24 for 26 - 328 yards - 3 TDS in a loss or 12-22 - 181 yards - 2 INTS in a win on Sunday?????

Colts - Best record in the AFC -- at home golfing
Pittsburgh - Squeeked in with a wildcard -- playing for the trophy

                        Please... you're defending the indefensible.

have to agree with clay here if the rox where to make it in the playsoff with a sub 500 record and they won the championship i would be greatly satifised, even if tmac avg 10 points for the finals lol

you forgot to read my first post , i said in no way is the record more valuable than the trophy . im actually rooting for the pistons to do it (get 70 wins and win the chip).why , i dont know .
