Is the 72 wins in an expansion year better than the Laker-Celtic teams of the 80's winning 65 games. Phil's first Laker year did they win 69 games? Good debate for sure.

Harps says if the game was played by today's rules this Piston team would beat the Bulls teams. While we may never know, it isnt fair to assume the Bulls teams would just kill them. And Air how can you say that the 91 Pistons is better than the 06 Pistons. They were on their last legs and I believe they even lost to the Knicks in 5 the next year in the first round. Not better.

OBM makes another good point. Their defensive year in 04 was one of the best ever. Look at all of their playoff opponents. I think they held each team over 10 points below their regular season average except for the Nets in rd 2 which I believe they held about 9 under. That is amazing no matter what the situation.
Let's see the Pistons win this year or even make the Finals before they are better than a team with the NBA's best record ever.

True, although I never said they are better. Just isnt fair to automatically assume it. How did you like that beatdown the Pistons gave the Nets the other night. Just adds to the bitterness huh

Agreed. That Bulls team had the best scorer and the best rebounder in the history of the NBA. If you put Jordan in this era under these rules, cancel christmas. If the Bad Boys couldnt stop him, what chance does this team have? The current Pistons arent even close. Give me a break!

I love the "If Wade was healthy" excuse.

Am I the only one who remembers the Bad Boys beating the Bulls in more than one playoff series? I think that qualifies as stopping him.

And the guy who thinks the Heat with a "healthy" Wade would have beat the Pistons last season is equivalent to me saying the Pistons would have won it all in 2003 if Chauncey Billups didn't get hurt. But I would never say that because injuries are a part of the game and excuses like that are weak. Players get banged up all the time.

Didnt he average around 30 a game vs the Pistons in spite of the cheap shots?

                  lol.

last time they beat him in playoffs was around 1990. many yrs before the 96 team that went 72-10 with mature scottie and adding rodman, current detroit would not beat 96 bulls in a playoff series.

LOL-- I never said anything about the current Piston team beating the '96 Bulls. Reread my post. The previous post said that the Bad Boys couldn't stop Jordan, which I disagree with since they beat the Bulls on route to consecutive championships.
