surprised some other crappy team wouldn't be willing to give up more than cato and a lottery protected 1st to get him. a couple years ago, he was a consensus top 3 pick, and while he sure as hell hasn't lived up to it, he hasn't really done much to declare himself a bust, either. he's had the "misfortune" of playing on a great team full of veterans.

It doesn't make much sense for the Pistons to just give up on the guy they picked 2nd in the draft 3 years ago. Especially considering he hasn't been given a chance. It's not like they are getting back anything for him now. Then again its not like they will have a need for him any time soon.

I think they've done pretty good without any of them...plus those are stars...this team wouldn't operate well with a star.

Probably too soon to give up on him, although it doesn't seem like he has the best attitude.

Maybe if he gets on a team where he has to play he'll begin to develop.

Bout time. I'm not patient liek them. I'm sure he doesn't have something that they're looking at everytime they practice. Yeah, he shows spurts of life and stuff, but what if he isn't worth his pick? I honestly don't see a reason to keep him on a team that isn't using him. If they get him again, cool. They should be trying to fill a guard spot or something to give Chauncey and Hamilton some rest.

I think they've done pretty good without any of them...plus those are stars...this team wouldn't operate well with a star.

I was thinking about thatas well, wonder how they would function if they had a BIG STAR on the team.

Detroit should have traded Darko last year when his value was higher...not that they need it. Hopefully this trade goes through cuz you know Stevie Francis is on the move if it does.

If this proposed trade goes through, the Pistons are getting 70 cents on the dollar.

The trade would free up more room for the Pistons to sign Wallace but they invested a 2nd overall pick in Darko (and of course the original price was Otis Thorpe).

Ben and Rasheed will be 32 years old next season. Both will most likely no longer be in their prime years (you could argue Rasheeds already past his prime). I'd be tempted to hold on to Darko.

I know people are going to slam the Pistons because they could have drafted Wade, Melo, or Bosh but the bottom line is that they won the championship the next season.

I was watching the Pistons/Nets game tonight and they showed Darko on the bench. He looked bored. Even the Piston announcers were saying there was a legit chance he would be dealt soon.

Its going to suck for his new team...he'll be up for an extension at the end of the season, and they won't really have much floor-time to use in their evaluation. They won't know how he reacts in big games, how he'll react to big minutes...whether or not he can become a franchise player or not.

Based on his draft status, supposed potential, time with a championship team, raw ability, and the inflated big-man market, he's going to get huge money, reguardless. Hope it works out for whoever he ends up with, or we could be looking at the next Danny Ferry, a guy whos contract suffocated the Cavs for years.

They'll have 30 full games or so Macca and practise.

All the talk used to be how Darko was killing them "in the gym"...that's all stopped completely so you wonder if the Pistons are seeing him get burnt even in gym sessions...

Worth the risk if you're Orlando...the kid may well have simply got tired of not playing and given up somewhat.

Side note: I know every Detroit fan says "hey, we are doing okay as it is"...but man, can anyone even IMAGINE the Pistons with Dwayne Wade as their 6th man

For two, they'd be favourites for the next five years...

There's no way to sugar coat it...the Darko pick was a disaster when you think of how strong that draft was. The strongest draft since the Hakeem and MJ draft...and all they'll have to show for it is Kelvin Cato. That's a disaster.
