Don't know about top 15 but I'd put him in the Ruben Patterson/Joe Johnson/James Posey category....a "dirty-work" guy who can be any given teams top perimiter defender. A guy who can handle the opponents best player by himself without getting completely molested. That alone puts him in the top 25 or so, IMO...not every team has one of those dudes.

HMC, he said he's one of the best. Again, he said he's one of the BEST. NOONE ever argues Varejo or Patterson, or Posey is a top 10 defender. Caertainly not one of the best.

The rest of the guys you named are just what I said Bell was, above average, and hardly all nba defense. I dont consider those guys the best, good yes, but hardly the best as he said. I think that was clear enough. If you dont have any proof to back up what you say, you are stating an opinion only. The facts speak otherwise of what he says.

Its funny how he goes on to tell me how this one of the best defenders cant even get minutes. Thats so laughable I didnt need to continue.

That was a cheap shot by Bell. What an idiot. He will no doubt be out for game 6 considering how the league handles fouls nowadays, and maybe even game 7. Way to cost your team.

Look bro, we dont need any smart comments about the discussions in the thread as if it needs your approval to be legit.

It was about a player in this particular series, and that is pretty much on topic. Arguing or debating, you call it what you will, but I actually enjoy having discussions here, until someone comes in making comments like you just did.

This is the OS NBA basketball boards. You have no right to come here and question any posters post because they have just as much right as you do put their thoughts on the boards according to the TOS.

If there is a real issue, allow us to handle it, but if not, and if you have nothing to contribute, your ranting serves no purpose.

You know, I actually felt bad for Kobe when he got clotheslined by Bell. That was a bitch move by Raja.

Then... Kobe had to ruin it by standing up and brushing his shoulders off and shaking his head at the crowd like he wasn't fazed.

2 minutes later, Kobe is thrown out of the game for pushing his teammate into the ref.

Raja obviously got into Kobe's head, and will remain in Kobe's head in Game 6, regardless of if he's playing or not. Kobe's going to take it way too personally, and try to take on the world by himself.

Kobe has no control over his emotions. Basketball is a game of controlling yourself, and rising above the situation, and I don't think I've seen Kobe do that yet in his career (Sacramento, taking no shots... NBA Finals against the Pistons, shooting his team out of a championship).

It will definitely be an interesting game 6, to see how Kobe reacts. The first 4 games of the series, he's surprised me. Maybe he'll come out passing, playing good defense, and not complaining if he doesn't get the ball, like he was earlier. Or maybe he'll go back to Old Kobe, and start shooting fadeaway turnarounds over two or three defenders with 10 seconds left on the shot clock and teammates standing wide open like he was in the second half of Game 5.

Either way he plays, I'll still love him. He's like a brother to me.

The bball discussion is cool. Thing is we were actually talking about a basketball related topic, "is raja really one of the best defenders in the L"

Calling that into question is beyond me because one, you can ignore the topic, or two add the posters to your ignore list.

The difference here is, there was no name calling, no personal attacks, no flaming, and therefore no TOS violations.

I know lots of people here can't handle another person to have a different opinion, but thats their own problem. As long as they abide by the TOS.

Wow, you are a piece of work, but anyhoo. I love how Kobe took the foul, that's how you're supposed to take it, get up and brush it off Brett Favre would have been proud. He kept his composure unlike Bitch Bell. Bell was still smarting from the flopping and getting called for the hack and he lost his composure. He even admits it. Those of you defending this are defending a guy who already confessed. Kobe has no problem with physical play, he thrives off of it. Obviously Raja does not, some guys can dish it, some can take it. That's all this is.

Kobe was thrown out of the game just minutes after this foul.

He was obviously effected, as you could see his style of play change from the team game to the "I'll show them!" game.

No one here is defending Raja Bell, there's no room for what he did in basketball. But what he did do with that foul was get into Kobe's head (in the cheapest possible way), whether you want to admit it or not.

Jerry Colangelo left a phone message as soon as Tuesday night's Game 5 ended.

The Suns' chief executive officer wanted to get a dialogue started with Stu Jackson, the NBA's top disciplinarian. The Suns' postseason hopes are at stake.

With 7:33 left in the game, Suns guard Raja Bell grabbed Kobe Bryant around the neck and threw him down as the Lakers star drove to the basket. Bell earned a technical foul, his second of the game, and an automatic ejection.

The Suns fear their best perimeter defender could be suspended for Game 6, a possibility that put a damper on a 114-97 win at US Airways Center.

"We don't believe this was an isolated incident or play," Colangelo said. "There were a number of things that led up to that flagrant foul. Things that have happened the whole series. A lot of elbows. It's been a very physical matchup between Raja and Kobe. I think Raja was pretty explicit. He lost his head. He overreacted, but a lot of things led to it."

Bell, who has battled Bryant all season, took the blame.

"At that point in time I had caught another elbow in my jaw," he said. "I've been hit in the face multiple times during the series, and it was an overreaction. A bad play on my part."

Bell said he didn't know what to expect from the league. Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said he was concerned, but he chose his words carefully.

"We've been on the short end for a lot of things, and whether that comes into account, I don't know," he said. "Whatever, we're going to win it with him, or we'll go and win it for him."

The skirmish was the third in a series that seems to grow more and more heated. In Game 2, Steve Nash shoved Sasha Vujacic aside. In Game 3, Tim Thomas took exception to a hard foul by Luke Walton, and Kwame Brown sent another Suns player to the floor with a forearm.

After Tuesday's game, Nash said in a televised courtside interview that he didn't see why the league would start suspending players at this point.

"Kwame Brown (knocked) Boris Diaw to the ground then stood over him with his crotch in his (Diaw's) face," he said. "If they start suspending guys now, I think that'd be unfair."

That's why Colangelo placed the call, to try to get his side in before a decision is made.

"When the red flag goes up, you don't wait for the sun to rise," Colangelo said.

                      -----------------
In this article they refer to Bell as a defensive specialist for those that want to challenge the contention that he is known for his defense. Also, Kobe was kicked out because he was on his second T-fall. He was not ejected for losing his cool, but the referee did not like his toneage. He was not t'd up for pushing his player into the ref, the ref knew that that was not his intent, he said something that drew a Technical, big difference.

Raja Bell is a punk. If he isn't flopping, he's clotheslining people. I hope he gets suspended if only for the fact that it'd mean I wouldn't have to see his "fish out of water" imitation he calls defense.
