Re: When Are The Lakers Gona Wake Up?? Tomorow? Next Week? 2005?

Idiotic statement arenas809? ok so the begining of the season matters right? ok, well what ever happened to the clippers and their playoff run that people were talking about at the beginging of last season? What happened to Tdot last year? What did the lakers do to dallas this year? but i thought dallas was the best? According to your theory they are.

i'd really like to take the time to thank you for the bball 101 arenas809, it's been really helpfull. It's really great that you have payed attention to all the commentary guys who do games, but what would media be without drama or people selling their products? Who would watch the nba if they told LA was going to win another championship? What are the odds of the lakers winning a championship again this year? And why haven't those odds changed one bit?

like i said i don't like the lakers, but i'm not going to deny that they are something special. 10-17 means nothing, there are 82 games, playoff seating and home court advantage mean nothing when you put it up against a team who is prettymuch unchanged and has dominated in the playoffs for the past 3 seasons.

Yes in my opinion your statement was beyond idiotic. Anyone who even plays sports knows that if a team doesn't show up to play and isn't just handed a win. No one is scared of the Lakers anymore, and they will not just hand over games to the Lakers because of what they've done over the years. You really must not know a lot about sports in general because NEWSFLASH the regular season DOES matter. Teams use the regular season to prepare for the playoffs. You need to be playing well, especially going into them because you'd like to go in with some kind of momentum. The regular season play determines seeds are given for playoffs in all sports, which determines who in fact has the easiest road to the championship. The NBA doesn't just say hey Lakers, you've won 3 straight titles here's the #1 seed in the West. And you're welcome for the Bball 101 lesson because its beyond obvious that you need it. In fact take some remedial classes in sports and competition period. I definitely don't need to listen to commentators as I have played sports competitvely my whole life, and have learned that players, teams, coaches, etc. that use your attitude of "wait to the playoffs" or "we can win when we want to" lose, and the players, teams, coaches, etc. who are hungry, truly hungry to win will be successful, that's just sports, and you know that from being a participant in some form and gaining knowledge of the game, not from watching pregame shows and reading how to books.

It's obvious here which one of us has a real idea about sports, and who doesn't, and I'd bet 9/10 sane people would agree with me.

      The end.

Shaq to me looks like he will begin his downfall. He simply is too big to continue to dominate in the NBA. His points may still be there but as it is pointed out, he's a big liability on defense. Sure he can block shots, but teams are attacking the Lakers with pick and rolls, and Shaq is too slow to help out on defense. If the Lakers lose Shaq, they lose their advantage, and we saw what they can do with Kobe only.

All I can say is that if you can sit back and chill and turn it on when you feel like it and win it all, then the league is in a SAD state.

Man are you sure about that. And look at last year, did they dominate the playoffs then, I dont think so.
Its exactly what arenas said, teams are not scared of them anymore. I believe that the Hack-a-Shaq and Beat LA are real defenses that teams use nowadays. and your record does matter. It determines your seed, and with a bad seed they will go up against a good team that will whip dat ***.
And I'm not gonna say they are out of it yet UNTIL christmas v. the kings and if the Kings blow out the lakers, kiss that 4th ring goodbye. If they hang tight with them then I'll give them to Feb during the Allstar break.
But they just dont look hungry at all, thay may have a trick up there sleeve. Naw, I aint gone lie, there bench is losing thier games, Shaq is right. Him and Kobe cant carry the entire team.

The reality that I don't think Laker fans are considering is that Shaq is done.

Not that he won't continue to be a good player, but his days of dominating this league were 40 pounds and a toe injury ago.

He doesn't look like the same player, and with the supporting cast to Kobe and Shaq looking older and slower by the second, it just isn't happening for them.

The will be no NBA title in L.A. this year, playoffs or not.

arenas101 i'm really glad you play sports, i do too, but you need to pay more attention to the teams and not their records because a teams record means nothing come the playoffs. You seem to think that it does, but i'll explain how it doesn't for you, since i'm such a nice guy, and i'll just ignore the comments that your making about my knowledge of the game.

so lets say for example Dallas ends up #1 in the west and LA ends up #8. Now in your theory Dallas has the easiest road to the championship, but in reality they have the hardest (everyone will tell you this, not 9/10, everyone). Dallas is an unproven team in the playoffs, the lakers are proven. Check this, even though Dallas is #1 going in, and LA is #8, why is LA favored?

take the time to read what i write btw, i'm not going to reply if you can't understand what i'm saying, maybe it's just over your head or maybe your just new. Either way read it a few times if you have to, don't get all frustrated and blow up about bball IQ after reading one half of a sentence. And just so you know i do understand what your saying, it's great for building a teams confidence. This isn't a disney movie, heart doesn't win championships, experience does.

He'll have no choice to "take his time to read" your post because you write like a third grader. That was tough to get through, with the umpteen punctuation errors and no clear point being made.

How come everytime the subject is about the Lakers, we end up just making fun of each other's personally. As for the Lakers, I think my Knicks might even give them a run for their money!!!!

go troll somewhere else if you don't have anything to contribute. I could care less about proper grammar on the operation sports basketball forum, but thanks for the advice. here's some for you, you should spend a little less time trolling the forums with snappy comments and looking for a spot to take a shot at someone. But i guess it's true, those who talk the most have the least to say. Or in forum terms just for you cause you seem to understand them, thost who post the most have the least to post about.

This seems a little deep for you, so I'll just butt out now. Bye.

10-17 and it's not gonna get any easier tonight against AI and the 76ers. Not to mention the Kings on Christmas Day. They can be thankful they have got the Nuggets and two games against the Raptors to hopefully add to the W column. Although in the form they're in would you back them against the Raps or Nuggets?

I hate it when people keep saying...there is 82 games blah blah blah. Newsflash...their is now only 55 games remaining for the Lakers. And if they were to miraculously turn it around tonight against Philly and went, say, 40-15 through the final 55 games they would still have only 50 wins come the end of the season. Probably just sneaking them into the playoffs.

It is panic stations right now in LA. They need to start winning, and start winning now!

Im loving it though...I cant stand the Lakers

Can the Lakers win 6 championships in 8 years like ....
the team that dominated the 90's???
