Re: WHY are people comparing Lebron to MJ??
Originally posted by JisticPippen signed a long term deal like an idiot that the team told him NOT to sign. But we wanted the security of the long term deal. They told him the contract would be out of date quickly, but he still wanted to sign it. So when they made him honor it and wouldn't renegotiate it he was pissed. But he made his own bed with that deal. That wasn't management's fault.
Pippen was upset in the 1.8 game because Phil called the play for the final shot to go to Toni and Pippen said that he wouldn't even go in on the play because he wouldn't be a decoy. Cartwright about killed him. So they just sat him out...and Toni hit the shot.
Far off base? I don't think you quite understand what you're saying. In the last few years no doubt MJ and Pippen mellowed. But if you know anything about this team from 87-93 or the first Jordan & Pippen era, you'll know that everything I've said about this team, and their relationship is true. I think when Scottie retired, his first words out his mouth during his press conference were very telling, ""As I stand here and as I look back, I don't think Michael (Jordan) had any championship trophies without me,".
My issue with Pips gripes about the contract was moreso you trying to make it seem as if it was some aught against MJ although that wasnt the case at all.
I remember the waive off of the last play. I watched that game. Pip took major heat for it and deservedly so. I agree he handled that wrong.
I am asking you, do you deny Pip and MJ worked out every morning? Do you deny they hung out after hours? Did commercials for Nike together? As a fan of the team, you know its true, and its hard to do that without some type of bond.
As far as that quote, maybe he wanted more recognition, as he did contribute greatly. Im not sure of his thought process, but Krause really played a huge part in the teams problems as well. You never say (shaq/kobe) with MJ and Pip.Comment

Remember Pippen holding his foot up (wearing the AJ X) asking MJ to come back?
Thats when the hanging out stuff came about. Before then, Pip didnt like MJ but he saw what happened to Horace and decided to kiss a lil *** undercover. Pip KNEW he needed MJ and he decided to play the background, AGAIN.Comment

Scottie Pippen was a good player. He had a nice all-around game, but it an insult to 49 other players and dozens when were not listed amongst the 50 Greatest ever for Scottie Pippen to be included with that group.
Pippen won 6 Championships WITH and ONLY WITH Michael Jordan on his team. I would argue that there were 10-15 players you could have replaced Scottie Pippen with in those years and still won.
What did Scottie Pippen do without MJ?
NOTHING...
ZERO...
LAUGHABLE...
Top 50 Players Ever.... PLEASE...
Nice player... nice all-around game... not even Hall of Fame worthy if he doesn't play on MJ's team.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Re: WHY are people comparing Lebron to MJ??
This is my breakdown as to why you probably in your lifetime will never see another MJ.
The gap between MJ and the next best player in the league was HUGE when he was in the league. Actually there were two gaps. You had the group of players like Bird, Magic, Isah, etc who you could put on par with each other, but then the game from them to the rest of the league was pretty big. Then You had Jordan at the very top and the gap between MJ in his prime and those other players named was big itself, thus the gap between MJ and the rest of the league after Bird, Magic, etc was like the grand canyon. With that said, MJ stuck out and shined. While there was a spotlight in probably the next 5 best players in the leauge the spotlight was twice as big on him, but rightfully so. Also as David stern said the other night during the playoffs, you wont see another MJ because the leauge is no longer carried on the back of just one player. Also when Bird, Magic and Isah retired...gone where the closet thing you could get to MJ. So after them...the dropoff was as big as ever.
In today's league there are probaly 20 players in the NBA who on any given night you could call them the best player in the league. That wasnt the case with MJ. Tonight, you could make the case for Lebron being the best player, then tommorrow night you could make the case for AI, then the night after than Kobe, then Arenas, Dirk, TMac, etc. What Im getting at is there is no huge gap between whoever the best NBA player today migiht be and the next 5-10 players in the league, since the gap is very small, not one player sticks out like MJ did. Even if Lebron did everything and accomplished everything MJ did, all the MVPS, championsips, socring titles, etc there would be about 10 other players in the league that you could say are just a hair below them.
The league is bigger, faster, more athletic, etc. and the game has changed as well. the talent of the top 10 players in the league is VERY comparable to one another whereas in MJ's prime, you coudlnt compare anyone else in the league to him. On top of that, MJ could drop 40 on a team , have 4 spectacular dunks, and hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer and people were AMAZED by that. Today there are about10 players in the league who could have a game like that and you know what? we just arent AS impressed by it today...simply because there isnt just one person in the league doing it. There are quite a few.
Sadly, Lebron could play 15 years on the league, career average 35, 8, and 8, win MVP 6 times. Win 6 champtionships 10 scoring titles, and even defensive player of the year 3 or 4 times and in most peoples minds MJ would still be the best player because what MJ did when he did it..no one else was doing it. Unfortuanately for Lebron, he's not the only one having games and seasons like he had this year, thus the impact of what he's done..or Kobe's done, or whoever just isnt as impressive. They dont "stand out" like MJ did...and its not thier fault. Which is why David Stern said "there will not be another MJ because rather than on person carring the NBA on thier back like he did, there is a pool of young great players doing it"__________________________________________________ ____

There will never be another Mike, just like there will never be another LeBron. There is no comparison, IMHO. I hate when people compare other players, why not just admire the player for what he is.Comment

People (my own Brother included) have them rose-colored glasses about Pippen because of the 6 rings... kind of like Phil Jackson.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!
