There is no doubt in my mind...

that NBA 2K3 from Sega Sports is the sports game of the year. From the gameplay to the graphics, to the ball physics, and the sounds/commentary in the game. It's got the entire package.

I'm still puzzled on how good this game is. I'm also amazed how Sega Sports was able to pull it off!

Anyone agree?

Its up there with NFL 2k3,NHL 2k3 and NCAA 2003. Surprising how much people don't like the game.

It's clearly evident that these people dont know squat about basketball and video games in general. To say you dont like this game is insane IMO. If you have any slight interest in basketball you are going to fall in love with this game.

Skyboxer NCAA Football 2003 is a great game but NBA 2K3 has the entire package. Online play for example.

Did I also mention the vast array of gameplay sliders to customize? And they do work, not like some other game we know. **cough.. NHL 2K3.. cough**

lately, i've been toying with the sliders, and starting to get awesome resolutes. you really need to do your home work when it comes to knowing what they (sliders) do. soon, i'll post my results and see what ppl think...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

i disagree completely. First, obviously NCAA2003 was a million times better. And second, NBA2K3 is just not that good. period. Too sluggish and slow paced, in other words BORING....

"SKILLZ", i felt the same way but i'm actually getting some results outta these slider adjustment i've got going. it's still not as go as NBA2k2 for the DC but workable.

IMO, NCAA CB2k3, is not that much better than NBA2k3....

Re: There is no doubt in my mind...

Um, I think I DO know quite a bit about basketball, and NBA 2k3 is just not that good as far as I'm concerned. It has TERRIBLE ball physics. If you poke at a ball, it should roll realistically down the floor unless someone gets it, but that doesn't happen. It travels a very short distance before someone just happens to catch it in their hand. Most of the time, it just sticks to their hand in an unrealistic manner. I like the rim deflections though. They're the most realistic out of all three titles (ID 2003, NBA 2k3 and Live 2003). The AI in NBA 2k3 is awful since they don't double players who are hot, don't try to trap ballhandlers and don't play an aggressive style of defense basically. The only game that comes close to emulating how specific teams play defense is ID 2003, as far as I can tell. When I play the 76ers, I'll see a lot of traps against the ballhandler, and stuff like that. With NBA 2k3, it's just man to man defense, the most basic kind, and nothing else. And they don't even pressure the ball. There's an imbalance between the different kinds of steals. Reach-ins should happen way more often and playing the passing lanes should happen a bit less often. ID 2003 seems to have the best mix of this. Another problem I've got with NBA 2k3 is blocking fouls which shouldn't always result in free throw attempts. Hell, it should rarely ever result in free throw attempts unless you were fouled in the middle of a shot or the other team's in the penalty. You should be penalized for running into defenders, and stuff like that. NBA 2k3 doesn't do this. Live 2003 actually does this the best, but ID 2003 does this somewhat well.

Obviously, I've got the direct opposite point of view regarding which poses as the best on-court b-ball simulation. I used to like NBA 2k3 a lot, but aside from occasionally playing it on Xbox Live (where you can actually find decent competition unlike the game's AI), it doesn't have that much to offer me at least. Presentation is nice and all, but if the gameplay's mediocre, the game's mediocre, plain and simple. For my money, I would choose ID 2003 as the best b-ball sim so far. NBA 2k3 might be second, but only because Live 2003 has gotten so ridiculously arcadish now. Of course, that depends on if you have an Xbox, otherwise Nba 2k3 is the way to go.

i disagree also! i don't like the pace of the game. and one big thing for me is that it doesn't have multiplayer franchise! despite the slider adjusting, live is still better for me!

"NEO", believe it or not, NBA2k3 does double team. i've been working on some slider adjustment and with the settings i've got so far from the last game i played:

Blazers vs. Magic (me)

87-79, Magic
8 min qts. all-star
-fg: 53% Magic, 49% Blazers (high so you get good amonut of points in shorter quarters)
-fouls: Magic 17, Blazers 19 (wow)
-freethrows: 17-27, Blazers 13-19, T-Mac went to the line 16 times! and only hit 9-16 with auto free throw.
-steals: Magic 12, Blazers 9
-blocks: Magic 4, Blazers 7

T-Mac was on this game. he ended up with 37, 20 by half time. in the begining of the 3rd, the Blazers, get this started to dbl him! i was soooo shocked i had to save it on replay. as they dbled him, this gave Hill a chance to shine, he would hit for 20.

the fastbreak is no longer an issue now that i know how to get them to run. the team setting may not be the answer, but i'll look more into it before i let you all know.

the cool thing with these setting are the fouls that accured. if you keep swiping at the ball handler, a foul willl be called. that's how i racked up so many fouls in such little time. also, big men were affective when it came to interior defense. when my guys got to the hole, defenders were stepping up for the charge. which forced me to pass out. but when i beat the defense, i was getting fouled and going to the line.

the other teams are pushing the ball on me. Stodimiare & PiP went nuts pushing the ball up the setting up Wallace and Wells, for ally oops. sweet!

give me til Wednesday to see if there are any bugs in my setup...

I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Disagree. I've seen the computer double players down low against my big man. Maybe it's not that prevalent but this could be fixed by adjusting some of the sliders to compensate for the lack of.
