Re: Ranke em.....TOP POINT GUARDS IN NBA

I stand by my placement of Mike Bibby not in the top 10. What has he done? He wasn't anything in special Vancouver, and look at what Bobby Jackson has done in his place. I don't care what Bibby did in one playoff series, anyone can get hot for 7 games, especially when all the focus by the defense is on other players. He got hot in the Western Conference, and everyone thinks hes one of the best.

And for whoever said Jason Williams shouldn't be on the list, the Kings made the playoffs with him at the point, while they didn't have as good of a team as they do now. By the way Jason Williams has had better years with the Grizzlies than with Sacromento. Take a look at his numbers sometime.

Bobby Jackson should of made this list, you are right. He should be up there with Van Excel, has all the talent, but is behind someone else on the depth chart.

This post hasnt all been about stats, i just use them to support my opinion. Some people near the bottom list, if this were by stats should be closer to the top.

"FIsher and Stoudamire could've been added."

Are you crazy? Ever since Stoudamire came to Portland in 98, he hasn't been the same player. He has to share time, and share pot. He doesn't play great defese, and hes having the worst year of his career.

With Fisher, what do you get? A 3-point threat, a guy who will take a charge and 3 assists a game. Hes a backup point guard on a good team, if the Lakers had a good PG, they wouldn't be struggling.

Have you ever watched him play? Probably not, considering those behind the back passes that go sailing into the third row don't make SportsCenter. Would I want Jason Williams running the point on my team? Absolutely not. Why? Because in his numerous years in the league, he has not only shown the inability to make the routine play, he has shown a straight up lack of want to make the routine play. That is NOT a point guard.

          1. Payon
          2. Bibby
          3. Nash
          4. Kidd
          5. Davis

i can't even count Francis as a pure point. he's only there because Mobley is a ball hog...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I would much rather have Fisher or Stoudamire over Jason Williams who is mediocore at best and Terrell Brandon who tears his ACL getting out of bed. Maybe if Brandon could stay healthy fo a full yr my opinion would be different but he can't.

The bigger question is this...has anybody here heard of Bobby Jackson? While Bibby does not belong in the top 5, I do believe he is top 10 material. Also, how many teams can say the arguably have 2 of the top 15 in the league. I would take Bibby over Marbury in a heart beat. Marbury had a good thing in Minnesota and his big fat head got in the way(and that guy really does have a big head, have you ever seen it?). Good PG make their team better, which Bibby did when he came to Sacramento. The guy is a solid go to player, which any team would love to have.

Re: Ranke em.....TOP POINT GUARDS IN NBA

I'm new here but I believe Gary Payton is the best PG in the NBA. And by the way, Jason Kidd is not as good as everyone makes him to be. He is #2 IMO but still overrated. People always say that Jason Kidd made the Nets 26 games better, and took them to the finals by himself when in reality, the team was completely different from the previous year. 2 years ago, Kerry Kittles missed the entire year, Keith Van Horn missed plenty of time, Kenyon Martin broke his leg later in the year and missed 20+ games and Stephon Marbury, the teams best player that year, missed around 20 games because of a broken wrist. Add the fact that Richard Jefferson, Todd McCulloch, and Jason Collins, who were three important role players last year were not on the team, that team was gonna fail. Payton on the other hand, continues to take a talentless Sonics team to the playoffs year in and year out. Without him the Sonics are nothing.

Is steve Francis a point guard? He averages double of what Jason Williams averages for TURNOVERS a game. So with only 2 a game, for Williams, I guess he doesn't throw into the crowd very often then? (Francis is WAY better, just bringing the stats up for comparison)

2ndly, he doesnt hurly up crap shots anymore. He takes 5 less shots a game then last year, and his FG/FT/3pt % have ALL gone up. I never said he was the best, whould i want him running my team? Probably not, but hes still better than a lot of guys out there.

Injuries are a problem? Fisher hasn't played a full season, since the LOCKOUT YEAR. And 2 years ago he only played 20 games.

But im sure you knew that.
