People also say that the Rockets team he was were "past their primes". Yes. However...that team still took Utah to the brink that first season. One bad call (moving screen that blocked Glyde from getting any D on Stockton) and the Rocks may have won.

The fact NONE of Houstons big three were close to "fit" that season...yet went within a few points of making The Finals...showed that maybe if Charles had of been a little bit fitter, things could have been different.

Dream and Clyde had their rings. Dreams knees were gone. Drex was in his last season.

Charles needed to take them to the ring that year. He came in, as Admiral said and grabbed 30 plus rebounds one night...and then really cruised.

He was pretty much badly out of shape come the WCF...while Malone and Stock were rock hard fit.

Maybe just a little bit more conditioning and Charles stops one or two of Malones buckets that series and scores a bit more himself.

There's a very...very...fine line between being a "champion" and not winning a ring. I just felt like Charles was never prepared to really bust his nuts and go over that 'line'.

Even Jordan, with Charles work ethic, would never have won a ring.

Jordan always said Charles wasn't prepared to "work" for it. Remember how MJ, even though he loved Charles like a brother, never pushed to get him as a team mate. Even towards the end when Charles was available. MJ never wanted him beside him.
Charles was a dominant undersize power forward. Charles took more hits and bangs on a road trip than Jordan did in a year. If Charles wanted to take the off season playing golf big deal. Charles always played hard. If you put Jordan on those mid 80's 76er's how many rings would he won?

      Ahh the good old days...

      Good stuff, Monk.

Remember when Pip joined up? Everybody had them penciled in as the shoo-in champs...but those "super sqauds" never work. Thats why I have doubts about A.I. and Melo co-existing, but thats another thread. It does make it even more impressive that Shaq's personality and presence led an unstable group to a chip down in South Beach.

haha man I loved those highlights. Charles was a beast and really played well for his size. WOW! And I loved all of his smack talk, hahahaha. I loved his actions whenever he would dunk over someone or block them. He handed the basketball back to the opponent after he dunked all over him lol.

            wooooow!...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I finally watched the video. Wow. Sometimes it is easy to forget. I am 36 and I can remember him in college and when he came in the league. He was a beast and he great to have youtube to refresh our memories.

The pass around 2:33 is amazing.

Agreed. Pip was badly advised when he joined the Rocks though IMO. Dreams knees were gone. I think he went there on Chucks advice...but Dream was gone by then.

Man I miss The Dream Shake...still the best post player I've ever seen. He had that many moves it was amazing. Those two championship seasons, he was the best player I've ever seen. Note : I don't put Dream in any best player lists as it was only those seasons where he was "out of this world" good. He was insanely good those few years.
