Lebron and Wade in the 90's NBA

    Interesting thread from basketballboards.net:

Where Amazing Happens. Discuss all things NBA here, including the history of the game, player comparisons, regular season games and much more.

I swear, some of these posts highlight why I'm not a Lebron fan. And as much as I like D-Wade (probably my favorite player in the league today), no way Wade puts up the numbers he is today in the 1990's.

And Lebron physically bigger than Oakley and Mason? Yeah, some of these kids didn't start watching NBA ball until 2003, it seems.

Some of them make some good points. But the one that made the best..

I believe the truly great players transcend era, so yes, they woud be as equally dominant in my opinion.
I like that. Leave it as is.

Personally I think if some of the stars of today (not necessarily Lebron and Wade) would be exposed as frauds if they played in the 90s. The game was VERY physical and I don't think many of today's stars have the temperment to play that kind of game.

Keep in mind that Lebron and Wade would have learned to play the basketball of the day. You wouldn't just be taking them from 2006 and putting that game into 1993, they would have grown up playing physical. Plus Lebron would probably have not jumped straight from HS.

My personal favorite basketball forums so far.

I didn't watch NBA ball til 1999, so I can't really have much of a say on how LeBron and Wade will do before that.

I feel sorry for you. The 80's and 90's NBA was a highlight reel. All players of today are trying thier best to be those players in the past 2 decades or better. Your CLE was close to becoming a championship team (lead by Mark Price and Brad Dauherty) until Brad Daugherty went down on a career ending injury (I think), and after that CLE was never the same again until LeBron came.

Didn't Mark Price have some injuries near the end of his career as well? He was on the same level as John Stockton in his prime years.

Of course Michael Jordan just loved making Craig Ehlo look like a total fool!

I was only like a baby when MJ made that shot (not even, possibly not even born yet). I started watching when I was 9 and that was in 1999.

And no, I wouldn't have been a fan of Cleveland back in the 90s because I don't live in Cleveland. I like Cleveland because I'm a fan of LeBron.

I think they both would do good, but let's be honest..their outside game is still lacking and everybody knows how hard was it to drive to the basket in the old days.

Cleveland was a beast back then. As a Bulls fan, I worried about us playing them, especially during the 1989 regular season when they swept the Bulls. If MJ didn't hit The Shot against them, the two teams could have easily switched places in NBA history.

Really? I didnt. I used to laugh at them because it got to the point where MJ started calling the coach and the players cream puffs, and they wouldnt defend themselves.

I remember him trash talking ehlo, and ehlo later did an interview scared asking "why is he trash talking me"?...lol

Lenny Wilkins though, there was nothing he could say about MJ calling them cream puffs, in an interview he did because he knew MJ would go off on them.

That shot, they had 3 guys on him and they still lost. It was just incredible.

CLE was a tough team back then though, but they didnt have the toughness to get by Chicago in the end. Tried to bring Gerald Wilkins in, the Jordan Stopper and he got toasted...lol he hit a shot on him too
