Re: Lebron and Wade in the 90's NBA

Oh yeah, AFTER the '89 season, I wasn't worried about Cleveland. But during that season, when they swept the Bulls all six games in the regular season, and had home court advantage in the playoff, I was sweatin' bullets, man.

But afterwards, when we started owning them (and they foolishly traded away Ron Harper), I knew they were no longer a real threat.

Yep, trading Harper I think killed any chance they had.

I know you remember the cream puff statement MJ made

IMO James and Wade would've been fine in the 90's. People seem to forget how tough Wade really is, he would've given the physical teams like the Knicks and Pistons fits with his toughness. And with Lebron, I don't think it mattered what era he came in, he would be a superstar.

So during the 90s, basketball was rigged, physical and slow paced, where slapping your hands on MJ's wrists while he's dribbling (hand checking) is legal right?

Both Wade and James will be forced to develop thier outside game because there is no way they can get out of the 1st round just by taking the ball to the basket and forcing fouls. The NY alone will make sure forcing foul is the last thing in thier minds. At least Wade only got a loving touch by Dirk in game 5. If that was NY, Oakley would have push him all the way to Ewing who will clobber him like no other. By the time Wade reach FT he will have double vision. Jordan became successful when he developed his shooting skills after coming from an injury. Must have knock some senses on him that he ain't gonna get the big one if he will continue to take the ball to the rim.

                More or less,

Funny thing is, the Western Conference has always as long as i've watched basketball been the more finesse conference. They weren't nearly as physical and depending on when in time it was they had more sucess with run and gun type offenses.

Everybody "oohs and aahs" over the Suns but really what they do is a modification of what the Nuggets and Lakers did in the 80s, cept LA actually could play defense when it was needed.

Nah, you gotta blame Shaq for that one. He made raised the bar so high for the center position that everybody were looking for Shaq clones.

Had nothing to do with Shaq. There is a reason Duncan is touted like he is. He plays like they did in the 80's and some in the 90's. He would fit in simply for his fundamental game, but most of these scrubs probably wouldnt even make a team.

Suns game today is totally different than what the Lakers did back then. The Suns run to hit the three, the Lakers ran to give it to Byron Scott and James Worthy for the strong finish on the break. Plus, the Lakers had Kareem to run the half-court offense if the Lakers were caught. The Suns break cant be stopped because they mostly take 3's.

I never got to see so I dont know how the 80's Nuggets were such a high scoring team, but I do know their top player was their small forward, so their offense couldn't be running the same way as the old Lakers or the new Suns.
