If I was the 92 team, I'd throw it into Robinson and Ewing all night long.

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
How can they even be compared?
What has the '06 team done other than beat up my boys in a exhibition game?
I mean come on...Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
Interesting comparison. I think the elite players on this team will some day reach the status to be compared to players on this team, such as Lebron or Wade, but as a collective, especially at the PG and C positions the 1992 team would just roll the 2006 one by at least 20 points.Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
Once again this thread went down the toilet, before it even got started. If you read my original post, I said "Try to BE OPEN-MINDED" about this subject.
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE 92 TEAM WILL EASILY DOMINATE THE GAME. But what I'm trying to compare is, (And I thought it might become a good conversation) what would happen if this years team was in their prime. Basically maxing out their abilities, went up against the Dream Team of 92.
I'm not trying to say that 06, because of their dominance against Puerto Rico is the better team. I'm simply trying to, relatively speaking, compare the 2 teams but with a futuristic view on it. If Lebron, Melo, Wade, Paul and their crew was in their prime, would they put up a good matchup against the 92 team.
And yes you can argue that 2, maybe 3 of the greatest played on the 92 team (Bird, Jordan, Magic), but I remember when Lebron and Wade was coming out you guys were comparing them to Jordan, Magic.
This is the sole reason why I hate posting in here. You guys are so quick to judge someone before you actually even think about the actual topic your replying to. You want to be that first person to flame the topic creator with some funny one-liner. Well to me you are pretty ignorant for not actually reading and UNDERSTANDING (understanding is the key word here kids) the topic being discussed.
I guess what I read a long time ago was correct, there are no bright minds in the basketball forum.
What has this "2006" squad proved? That they can win an exhibition game on home soul? Yawn.I like the current team too but this is a joke.Last edited by shugknight; 08-04-2006, 10:03 AM.Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
A better question would be a "true" 2006 dream team vs. 1992.
Shaq
Duncan
LeBron
Kobe
Billups
Howard
Garnett
Allen
Wade
Paul
TMac
Reddick - (gotta have the overrated Duke player to matchup with Laettner)
those guys would have a great shot, esp. considering that the Dream Team had Larry and Magic at the end of their careers.Comment

Ok, this is a warning. One more insult to the posters calling them all ignorant and you will be celled.Comment

But who's to say what Wade, Bron and Melo will be like in their primes? We can't say for sure they'll be great. Many "can't miss" players have come in the NBA and turned out to be busts, even after they had good starts to their careers. Ralph Samson is a prime example (though his situation mostly came from injuries, but that's something that can happen to any player).
See, we know what MJ, Magic and Larry did in their primes. We can only speculate on what these young cats might do. But then, that gets us into the dreaded "potential" word, and I hate things based on potential. Give me production over potential any day.Comment

And that is the problem with his entire post. Then he proceeded to call people ignorant for not following through on his fantasy idea.
Im sorry but that makes zero sense.Comment
