I could see K going for Miller over Bowen, but he should have played Brad more. He kinda just stuck him on the bench like he did Chris Burgess a few years ago, and Casey Sanders. Only way those guys could have learned to play was to get some serious court action. I'm not going to second guess K on anything, because again had they hit their free throws....we would have won the Greece game, and more than likely the gold medal. Esp after the way we took it to Argentina in the bronze medal game.
I'm sorry, but you made it too easy to pick apart your post...
    1. Shane Battier is almost as good of a defender... almost is the key word... In fact, Bowen is a 3-time All-Defensive first team player, and has appeared on 6 All-Defensive teams. Battier has appeared on NONE.
    2. Way better offensive player??? He scored 45 points in 9 games for a grand total of 5.0 ppg. At least Bowen can hit the 3 ... (42.4% in 2006)
    3. Battier scored roughly 13.5% of his team's points while on the floor (the average is obviously 20%)
    4. In the playoffs (which this tourney kind of is) Bowen is at a career 41% shooting, and Battier at a 29% career for 3-pt shooting.
    5. Don't bring up hustle either... Since 2003, Bowen has missed ZERO games, and has averaged 32.2 Mpg... Battier has missed 10 games since 2003, and averaged 30.5 Mpg
Bowen is the clear winner here... except in the coaching politics... the thing that Bowen lost at was that he didn't go to Duke, and Coach K didn't want to recruit him even in college.

Or your biased views on being a Spurs fan is clouding your judgement. Battier in the FIBA tuneups was the better offensive player. HE ACTUALLY SCORED!!!!!!!! He showed up on both sides of the ball, and Bowen didn't. Take your ball and go home. This isn't about NBA accolades. It's results in the tuneups before the World Championships. Battier showed up, and Bowen didn't simple as that. Pick apart that post.

If it isn't about NBA Accolades, then why are there certain players that are asked to try out? Only certain players are invited based on abilities showcased in the NBA. The USA would have much rather had Tim Duncan, or KG, and if Amare wasn't injured... and he didn't do too well in the exhibition games, you better believe he'd be picked over Brad Miller, no question.
