Re: Looks like the posters at realgm.com have lost their minds

Magic made much more money than the sauce, and is still around because of his various businesses and charities.

Sorry, but their names wont just fade like you say it will.

Thats the thing, those guys are worldwide known names. They'll probably still be wearing Jordan's and going to Magic's starbucks drinking his coffee.

Funny thing is, the Euro players probably know more and respect more and model more after guys like Magic and Bird than they do any of todays players

It is the same way this generation didn't respect the players from the 60's and 70's these kids will not respect players from the 90's. Go ask a 10 yr old is the best player ever most likely they will say LeBron. Ballers are Ballers doesn't matter what era they play in.

Fools need to give respect Miken also but he played in the 50's but layed the foundation for the modern big man.

My generation did respect guys like Big O. To average a triple double for a season is a feat no matter what era you play in.

This generation is devoid of understanding, even with mountains of information at their hands.

You may have respected the Big O but others didn't. If so we would give those Celtic teams more props and the players from the 70's more love. Everyone always give MJ the greatest of all time, why? did he score the most points, did he win the most championships. No, but he was the best player in our era.

Now, in a few years we will hear how LeBron or Wade is the greatest of all time.

I have never seen people disrespect the Big O. They give him credit for averaging a triple double and I've seen him in plenty of top ten greatest players list. The reason he gets less attention than others is because he only has one championship ring.

I was talking about players that played in other eras in general.

No, I was just making a point about The Sauce . The game of NBA is gearing more towards showboating, poster dunks and individual show. As you can see, the rules have already change and whoever will become the next commissioner of the NBA most likely would build what Stern left behind rather than bringing back the rules of the golden era. We all know what that means, it will only be a matter of time before NBA will not be much different to AND1 combine with European rules. And when the rules of the NBA will favor the offense completely, it will be a haven for players like "The Proffessoooorrrrr". I have to admit though that AND1 moves are really slick and spectacular even, sometimes better than what you see in the NBA. But when a player like Pippen is guarding them using the old rules, they will turnover the ball like 20 times, even more.

Streetball gets boring after a while because you see the same kinds of move with a little twist.

Why don't we have classes to make sure we don't forget about Wilt, MJ, LeBron and those people? Why do we have classes to make sure we don't forget about William the Conqueror and those people.

Because basketball is not as important as world history.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Im not sure what you're talking about but I already said I lump them all in the same group. All Time Greats. There is a formula to it as well.

The Celtics get plenty of props and so does alot of other players. If you search down time of the NBA, and stack Mj up against the rest, He'll be in the same group as they are in what was accomplished.

I know the entire MJ vs Wilt thing, and I have no preference one way or the other, but I dont remember MJ being dominated by another player like Bill Russell did Wilt...lol

Get out of here. Give me the original Harlem Globetrotters anyday. Now that was entertainment

I remember that group too. I think they perform better than AND1 in terms of comedy.

Well they dont travel and carry the ball and all sorts of illegal things. They entertain while playing legally with cunning passes and fake outs.

They throw lobs and dunk, trick the defenders and confuse you with real fundamentals without doing it cheesy.
